Wonderful roast duck in a unique environment and great service. A real treat!
Memorable experience and beautiful meal will come again
Excellent return to eating out, highly recommended.
Fabulous place to eat, and the lunch menu is fantastic with some lovely choices. I have no fault to make at all.
This is a traditional restaurant with a long history. It specializes in roast Aylesbury duck and the Tarte Tatum with calvados was lovely.
Delicious food, the right size portions, and excellent service
All very nice food was good wasn’t expecting to listen to a baby crying all through lunch when l mentioned it to the lady on paying the bill she said it was a on line booking for three and didn’t no a child was coming maybe they should say adults .only as it’s not nice for everyone else we go out to get away from young children things aren’t as good as they were hopefully they will get better as I’ve going to the kings head for the last 35 years and will hopefully come for another 35 years
We enjoyed dining here from the moment we were safely welcomed to when we left. Staff were attentive, friendly and professional. There was great attention to detail including the safety aspects in the present climate. It was pleasant to be able to have a drink in the designated bat whilst browsing the menus. There was ample choice on their Christmas menu as well as the a la carte options on another ( most of which carried a supplement) Tables in the dining room were well spaced.
Fresh warm bread was excellent and when dishes appeared they were served on hot plates, well presented and very tasty. Staff ensured we were happy and wanted for nothing. Time between courses was well judged. All in all a very good experience and we would highly recommend a visit.
Excellent service and fantastic food. Our first visit to The Kings Head, but we will certainly return.
Excellent food as always. A real dining experience. Fantastic service makes you feel really special.
We had the most wonderful evening. It must be such a difficult time for all there but they were so welcoming and friendly. The food was super- especially the fabulous Aylesbury duck. As soon as they are open again we’ll most definitely try to be there.
An excellent lunch, as always. Friendly, good food and drink. A favourite restaurant that doesn’t let us down,
Excellent restaurant for a special occasion! We'll return.
Excellent meal, great to see George at the helm.
Food up to their high standards, my kids loved the roast beef.

Reserve the duck!! Great restaurant, can’t recommend it enough.
Absolutely delicious. The staff were fantastic and we had a wonderful time.
It is so good that we went to dine there twice last week! There is nothing to fault about this restaurant, it is perfect and so glad we did go last week because it is going to be a while before we are allowed to go again but we will be one of the first people to book when it re-opens.
Great food - and very nice to have managed to go before lockdown comes back!
It’s nice food, but not for young people. It’s dated decor. But glad we went
Wife’s 40ty birthday
Wonderful service, well balanced between attentive and discrete, making you feel well looked after. Food is excellent and extremely good quality, from the bread to the desserts, all with a fine attention to detail and just the right portion size. So delicious, all our plates were completely cleaned. Compliments to the Chef indeed, but all staff helped to create a great service all round. Highly recommended.
An absolutely lovely meal, food experience and ambience.
Customer service amazing.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyable.
Will definitely visit again for a special celebration meal.
This restaurant is a must for a special occasion, as it offers a superb dining experience.
From drinks in the bar to being shown to your table the service is excellent, and the food does not disappoint.
I would thoroughly recommend it.
I'm afraid that we had some awful service issues that are echoed by the other poor reviews of this restaurant, often from people who have been visiting for many years.
This experience was our first and I can honestly say that I have never been treated so badly as a customer, in any establishment, anywhere. To be made to feel like an inconvenience, for arriving at 11:45 for our booked table at 12:00, just seemed strange. Combined with us being rushed through our meal and then again reminded of our early arrival, was totally at odds with what we were hoping for and expecting. I suspect, given the other poor reviews, that this restaurant somehow feels exempt from poor service and that they are "above" all of that. But unfortunately, or fortunately, there are many other nice reastaurants for us to attend where we are both welcome, and welcomed.
Another faultless lunch in a covid safe environment, nice to see the staff wearing just face masks and not the cumbersome visors. A limited menu but interesting and perfectly presented by attentive staff.
It's a while since we ate at the Kings Head, we definitely won't leave it so long before we go back. Fabulous food - delicious and beautifully plated. Warm hospitality, lovely atmosphere (only the soft sound of conversations here and there. No noise, no music (or muzak!). We had the lunch menu, which, in addition to being divine, was really good value. We've already booked to go back in a couple of weeks time...
Have been here numerous times and it never disappoints. Delicious meal along with excellent service at a reasonable price.
The Kings Head always sets an amazingly high standard of service and cuisine served in a wonderful atmosphere
Really enjoyed Saturday lunch here. They have a two tier menu in terms of cost (but not at the expense of quality) which is helpful and although it’s a pub it’s not really! The atmosphere is formal in an good way - old school and they have preserved many of the great touches of what it was like to dine back in the day (dress smart, have drinks first in a separate room, attention to detail service, etc). Would definitely go back again and locally it has a top reputation.
Excellent service and food. Scallops particularly.
It’s perfect , my wife and will definitely visit again 😍
Our second visit to this delightful restaurant in the country that has great atmosphere and superb food that doesn't disappoint, all at reasonable prices. Well worth the trip there.
An average experience compared to what we have experienced over the years.
Good food, good service, good value equals, good times!
Been going to KH for over 40 years and it quality in all aspects has never wavered. It is exceptional in every way
Loverly meal and service in nice restaurant settings
Traditional silver service restaurant.
Very attentive staff. Excellent Aylesbury duck. It was a special evening before my partner had to fly back to the States.
