The Kingslodge Inn
Lovely B&B with excellent food choices from the restaurant with different specials each day. Room was quiet and clean.
Fantastic 50th birthday meal for my husband with the family and the dog! Perfect choice!
A group of six went to Kingslodge. We all thought our meals were well presented and very tasty. The prices were reasonable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We would and will go again.
Very attentive staff and the food was served very quickly. It was tasty and filling. No complaints whatsoever and would definitely recommend.
Eight of us had a pleasant b’day celebration. Food was nice but the chicken meal wasn’t very big and the cous cous served with veg dish was a bit dry and lacking some taste and risotto too was lacking taste and could have had more mushrooms. Potatoes served with the sea bass were not cooked well and a bit raw. So just a few issues which detracted from the experience for the price too compared with a previous visit which seemed better.
Excellent evening. Lovely staff.
Lovely place and friendly staff food great And Reasonably priced
Couldn’t fault it. Went for Sunday lunch with parents who are both used to good food and quite critical. No negative comments from either of them and empty plates. Result!
The food was amazing. Great value for money. If there was one in Lowestoft where I live I wouldn't cook. The staff are top notch. Very friendly and accommodating. It is nice to see that dogs are welcome in the bar area. Very relaxed atmosphere. Food presented like a 5 star restaurant.
Everything was ready when we arrived, all the staff were really friendly. The pub area is very smart and comfortable, and a good range of food and beer at very reasonable prices. Plenty of free parking on site.
We needed a place to stay overnight with a dog, and they have 2 rooms downstairs for dog owners, plus they give you a key so you can get in and out during the night, and it was all very easy.
We will use the Kingslodge Inn again when we visit Durham.
Lovely food, friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon.
We booked for my father’s birthday, there was 12 of us we had a great time, food was nice some of the menu was small Portions for the price but overall couldn’t fault the food. Staff were lovely and pleasant, I have emailed since due to me loosing a item out my bag awaiting a response still. See how communication is after the event .
Food is the standard I would expect in Weatherspoon's at the prices I would expect in a Marco Pierre White restaurant! The portions were small and the food fairly tasteless. The only decent thing to say about this place is that the staff were pleasant. Don’t waste your money, there are much better places to eat in and around Durham.
Absolutely lovely place. Best pizza I’ve ever had!! And our puppy loved making new doggo friends. Will defo be back on the regular
The food was really really average, I ordered a burger that you could tell it was pre-prepared as it was like bitting into rubber. My husband ordered a black pudding starter that came out as a dish full of mushrooms with some bits of black pudding, I found the title of the starter a bit misleading. The waitress was constantly wiping her nose with her tissue and then handling glasses etc which I didn’t find very hygienic. Polite staff overall.
On a very damp and cold Saturday the Kingslodge was warm and welcoming , staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic, 4 starters, parfait, french onion soup, a black pudding and mushrooms in a cream sauce and a special, Thai fish goujons were a great success. Main courses, steak pie, sea bass, pulled pork and chicken jalfrezi were exceptional, would highly recommend.
Had booked for 7 people turned up with 8 & it was no problem for the staff. Also brought a dog & we were reseated off a carpeted section onto a solid floor area, which was no problem for us. Staff very friendly throughout the evening. The food was good & the portions hearty. There were three vegetarians in the party & all felt they had a decent choice. We also had a Sticky Toffee Pudding connoisseur & despite the unusual addition of banana on top they rated it highly.
Very enjoyable evening with good friends in comfortable surroundings, we didn't feel pressured to leave as soon as we finished our food/drinks and were happy to stay for a while & continue to chat.
Sunday lunch was good value and good portions with variety of veg included. Relaxing atmosphere and bar and waiting staff helpful and friendly. Definitely return, hidden gem in heart of Durham.
Very friendly efficient staff, willing to please. Very comfortable, clean and well presented
We , had our dog with us, so we used the bar area, which was great.
Service was good, food was good so in general a good experience.
The pub is ideally located to walk into the town, and would consider staying there next time we are in Durham.
Really good pub food. Can’t fault it overall. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere and decor were perfect.
Nice place, service average, food was cool and carrots were raw. Otherwise good
Nice and clean . Food good though a little expensive . Staff friendly ,service quick . Almost empty when we went .would return after I’d saved up a bit !
Lukewarm food and disappointing vegetables with Sunday dinner. Turkey was presented in slices on a par with supermarket slices. Gravy absolutely awful reminded me of school dinners. Ambience great however.
Great food and drink, lovely surroundings and friendly staff who can’t do enough to help - what more could you want?
Very nice family meal good service and atmosphere music was just in background so not intrusive
We went on Halloween afternoon
No one was in and I felt if we haven’t turned up Chef and staff would have called it a day. Food was ok but straight away one thing “wasn’t on the menu” when we came to ordered. Not v attentive considering place was empty. Dads gammon was thin and unappealing. Ours was ok. Have been for Christmas Day lunch when it was packed, hiccup on orders then I recall.
The main course Sunday lunch was superb
The chocolate Brownie Sundae was poor especially at £8.95
Really friendly. Was told this was a dog friendly pub but apparently no bedrooms available, and not clear about where they could be with us in the pub...
First time here and
The food was great
The place is great
The staff were lovely
will definitely come back
And highly recommend this place to family and friends
It was ok...just pub grub.
Not gastro pub and certainly nothing like the photos on their website
Don't be mis-led
Staff friendly and helpful.Food good pub grub and reasonably priced
Food was barely warm and had to wait ages for it to be served.
Good food, service not bad but have stopped table service but didnt tell us so we waited a while before realising. Puddings are great 😊
Incredibly attentive staff but not intrusive.
Very helpful. Good options for vegetarians (there were 4 veggies). They had gnocchi which they loved. I had the burger which was nice but if for top stars bit more seasoning - bit bland but I ate the lot.
The bread platter had plenty bread - perhaps larger amount of oils and dips as these were insufficient for the amount of bread. It was tasty though.
Staff and service excellent, meal was quite good but would have been more enjoyable if vegetables were served separately as leeks were unusual with Sunday roast. I would not have added them, spoilt the meal actually
No Specific gluten free menu. Main meals were fine lamb cutlets and grilled fish for my gluten free other half. Promised gluten free sticky toffee pudding but my husband had bad reaction when he came home. I had Mocha Panna Cotta but a panna cotta it was not.........tasted lovely though.
The waitress was lovely and bar staff were great. Overall we did have a nice meal but it was a shame about the reaction.
Nice food, great service, restaurant was fairly quiet when we visited for Sunday lunch. Only minor gripe is that we asked for "no yorkshire pudding" on two of the meals as two of the party didn't want them. The girl at the bar who took our order said she was typing that request into the till. Of course all the meals had a yorkshire pudding on them when they came! So that was two left and therefore wasted. I hope more notice would have been taken if we had said it was due to an egg allergy.
Lovely interior and friendly staff who provided excellent service.Food was good pub grub however puddings were expensive and not good value for what we got.
Lovely food in wonderful setting with great service . Would def eat here again
