It would have been nice to have a vegetarian alternative to the traditional Christmas dinner, but my meal was nice, just not very Christmassy!
It’s nice. The dessert menu was not to our taste. Otherwise very good
Lovely setting. Sauce on the eggs benedict was extremely thick and too rich for the amount on the plate.
Lovely afternoon tea which was for a voucher I had won. We had our two children with us and staff were very accommodating making up little things for them to have too!
This is the second time that I have had lunch in the Kitchen as well as having breakfast a couple of times. I have always found the staff and service very good and the food excellent. It is a beautiful location with super views from the light and airy restaurant.
I think the lighter option meals for lunch are just ideal for many people. A lot os good options to suit most people?
Thank you again.
Great restaurant with lovely view and nice food. Friendly staff who know the food.
Fabulous as always. Love it there! Perfect place for breakfast or lunch.
Restoration Yard yet again proved that they are getting it right. The ambience, service, efficient and very friendly staff and not forgetting the superb food.
Lovely food, I can recommend the sweet potato & chickpea curry. The others had the chicken burger they said it was yummy - would definitely order this again. Clean and lovely decor.
I would definitely recommend The Kitchen as I've been there for lunch several times and it's been lovely.
I was therefore a little disappointed with the afternoon tea as there were hardly any sandwiches, the fillings were poor and the scones were far too big and too crumbly to cut.
I would not recommend afternoon tea at The Kitchen
Beautiful place to eat - scorching day but still not too hot inside. Food really good, ambiance amazing and although it feels smart it is still child-friendly. Kids especially loved the tables with their trinkets inside! Staff were very efficient. Slightly on the pricey side for lunch but really enjoyable so worth it for a treat!
Food was fairly good and fresh. Baking was the best part. Coffee was a bit flavourless but I do like strong coffee to be fair. On the whole a positive experience.
Lovely food in a nice environment. Good service too. We have been several times... Today was for brunch. The eggs florentine was delicious.
We had a lovely afternoon tea, food was delicious and filling.
I eat here regularly. My visit recently was not up to the usual standard. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, say 50% full, yet the service was slow. My friends enjoyed their lunch but my sandwich had very little filling in it and I left the dry bread. Disappointing. My friends had apple tart for dessert - they were given a spoon which didn’t cut through the pastry at all so they tore it with their fingers! All in all, not the usual excellent experience.
I was a bit disappointed with my lunch choice. I ordered brie and roasted red pepper relish on toasted
sourdough. The sourdough wasn't that great and was missing that lovely tang. It bread portion was absolutely enormous with very little brie and relish inside ,mostly bread really. It was served with a rocket salad and a creamy bland dressing, a punchy vinaigrette would have been better.
The place was lovely, beautiful surroundings. The meat dishes were good but the vegetarian main course was not as described on the menu and a bit bland. Service was very good.
I visited with a friend - my treat - on a Saturday morning to find the place pretty empty. I'd booked for 1100 hrs thinking it would be busy. I'd the smooshed avocado but sourdough bread had such a tough crust it was a challenge to cut through. Sharper knife needed? The full restoration breakfast was a disappointment apart from poached eggs. Cheap white toast, no butter. Cheap Lorne sausage and quite greasy overall. Fresh orange juice was pretty OK but too much ice. Overall a disappointment. With so many places doing breakfast/brunch these days I can see why this place was empty.
Delicious eggs benedict, delicious coffee. Lovely staff and surroundings- looking forward to another visit
4 of us had a lovely lunch here. They accommodated my daughters baby and pram thoughtfully. The staff were friendly and efficient. It was great to see the chef pick fresh herbs from the herb garden for the meals. It is a bright and sunny venue. Highly recommend this venue
We had a very enjoyable lunch. Lovely place bright and airy love the decor.Would def. return.
The Kitchen at the Restoration Yard in Dalkeith Country Park is a great find for meeting with friends. There is a great atmosphere in the chic surroundings of the yard, a former stables mews. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent, we both had the Eggs Royal. I would definitely recommend a visit, but book in advance as it is always pretty busy.
Have already told our friends about this wonderful place. The food was superb and the waiting staff were on point. We will be back soon to try more delightful dishes.
Lovely evening. Maybe the service was a little hurried.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our lunch taking friends with us who had never been before and they too were impressed
We took a friend to The Kitchen on her birthday and we were not disappointed- lovely setting, excellent service and very tasty food.
Beautifully set up, lovely airy space, excellent food and service.
Good location, service and quality food!
Lovely relaxed lunch - loved the ambiance and the food was delicious.
The location, staff and ambiance are all fantastic. The food is delicious but the menu for lunch is quite limited. Two of our group had fish and chips but the chips were actually potato wedges in huge chunks so should have been described as such on the menu
Lovely venue with lots of character. Food was excellent. Service was very slow.Waited nearly 25 minutes after ordering for food to arrive.Ordered a coffee which after 15 minutes hadn't arrived and had to ask the waitress again. Would still return again
I ordered the £15 chicken burger and although it looked nice the chicken was rubbery & the first meal I haven’t been able to finish at a restaurant in a long time. When a burger is costing that much you expect to get a fresh piece of chicken. However, other people in the party said their meal was nice but it has put me off going again!
Excellent breakfast - staff and food were fabulous
Went for afternoon tea. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Lovely food although the sandwiches were a bit uninspiring.
Had a lovely meal. Good food. Friendly staff. Good overall.
Good food and pleasant service. Mistake to serve Eggs Benedict on Tattie scone - hard and chewy.
great location, service good, beware large portion caesar salad it big!!
Lovely food in a beautiful setting. The steaks were phenomenal and the service very attentive.
Yummy ... food is excellent nice atmosphere perfect for date night
Love this café. Beautiful setting and lovely ambience. Food is terrific although a wee bit pricey - worth paying it to enjoy eating here though. I would thoroughly recommend.
