The Lady Ottoline
On the ground floor of the Dickensian style building, drinks are available from the dark wood bar and food from the banquette-lined tables, perfect for quick business lunches and home-comfort cosy dinners next to the open fire.
Upstairs, guests are treated to an elegant, more formal atmosphere in the dining room, ideal for romantic, candle-lit dinners and social suppers. Tucked away across the hall is a snug private dining room, The Morrell Room, which caters to special occasions, family get-togethers and intimate gatherings alike, seating up to 14 people round a large wooden table.
Open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday and serving roasts for Sunday lunch.
Very noisy down in the bar but reasonable selection of beers and a huge gin list. The restaurant was nice and the menu good. Staff were attentive. Would go there again.
The upstairs dining room is quaint and charming. Christmas decorations are great. Server was excellent and attentive, kitchen was a bit slow. Food was tasty and well presented.
Very disappointed. Have been in past and was very good. Food uninspiring as was service.
Incredibly slow service, so much that we had to leave before dessert was served. No smiles included.
Very good food
Overall really nice. Lovely room and polite service. A couple of
One of the best pub food in London !! Great service and cool atmosphere. The steak is incredibly good...
The best fish and chips I have ever had. The Lady Ottoline is probably the best pub for this part of town, by a long way.
Went for Friday lunch with colleagues - food was excellent and the upstairs dinning room is bright and cosy which was a perfect escape from the cold!
excellent, especially good service and gin menu. as always just a lovely pub to be in.
Service was a little slow considering it wasn’t busy. Food great value but drinks expensive.
Food was very good in general, sadly our roasts were missing some of the vegetables (parsnips). Also when asking for some gravy, we were given some water-diluted gravy which was quite disappointing.
A great, cosy place in the centre of town. A relaxed atmosphere and fine food in a comfortable, local environment.
Great room, lovely service and smashing food
Overall very good. Did think initially that the staff were unaware of our booking, despite me re-confirming it the previous day. They also seemed a bit unfamiliar with the menu choice. However overall the service was good.
I hosted a client to lunch at the Lady Ottoline, and was delightfully surprised by the experience. I expected it to be rather like going to a gentleman's club offering mainly traditional roast dinners or fish and chips, but it wasn't! Friendly, welcoming staff; contemporary menu with delicious vegetarian/vegan options; a table by the window and a lovely ambience. My client works locally but hadn't visited before....we're looking forward to our next meeting!
I would recommend the Lady Ottoline to a friend who is finding it difficult to find an alternative! The Lady is a pretty place and the food is not bad. But neither is the menu exciting or the food outstanding...It's OK but could do a lot better. Incidentally, you probably do not need to book: we went on a Friday evening and only one other table was occupied.
Nice ambiance, good food excellent atmosphere, recommended
Lovely environment, good service, extremely tasty food and good choice of wines. Also good value for money. Great place for a business lunch but I suspect equally as good for lunch/dinner with friends.
I've been to the Lady Otteline for a few different events. I have been for work lunches and Christmas parties and for all of them the staff have been fantastic. The food has been delicious, and I will definitely go again!
It was all fine when we got there, but I'd asked for a quiet table and got a call 2 hours before the time we'd booked saying that they were fully booked and there wouldn't be a quiet table. When we got there it was quiet - only a quarter of the tables were occupied. I have the impression that they were trying to put me off going ....
Excellent Gastro pub - good bar downstairs and fab food and service upstairs at a reasonable price.
Great place, fab food and not over expensive. Friendly staff and the little touches (birthday) made the experience even better.
Excellent service and well-cooked food. Would revisit when I'm next in the area and would certainly recommend.
I had a business lunch with three other people at the Lady Ottoline. The staff were friendly and helpful, the menu was appealing, and the food was delicious. I will be coming back!
I had a nice chilled solitary Sunday lunch here during a rare child-free weekend. It's a nice gastro pub on a quiet side street in between Clerkenwell/Farringdon. The decor is very understated classic pub and comfortable: wooden floors, white walls etc. The service was efficient but not too quick and I was left in peace most of the time. I had roast beef which was cooked medium - perfect. The seasonal vegetables were all cooked well and the large yorkshire was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My only complaint is that the gravy, whilst very tasty was a really thin consistency. I'd highly recommend this pub and am looking forward to my next visit.
Our first night in London after a long day of travel, we just wanted easy pub sustenance. Our son did some research and found this treasure. Unexpectedly wonderful, carefully prepared, delightful food delivered with grace.
A small menu of genuinely interesting and well cooked food. I ate in the downstairs pub which was quiet on a Saturday night but probably would have been noisy on a Friday. The upstairs dining room probably addresses that.
we ate upstairs in the restaurant - the bar is loud but upstairs was quiet - very few tables on the night we were there. Food was beautiful - well cooked and simple but great ingredients and lovely presentation. The chef was not happy with the fondant so re did it before it got to us - it was delicious and we were happy to wait. The desserts were comp'd which was an unlooked for gesture but much appreciated. Standouts - steak, pork chop, salmon scotch egg (and the truffle chips!) . Service friendly and attentive without being 'in your face'.
A great neighborhood restaurant with an interesting menu and lovely service.
My wife and I had a wonderful meal in the dining room.
Delicious food and wine, great service and a generally lovely time all round. Would heartily recommend.
The lady Ottoline is a lovely pub, especially for a Sunday Roast! However, the roast beef was very fatty which was disappointing for the money it cost.
A great spot. Always ask about the pie of the day. They also make a *great* burger but be ready for a messy meal! The fish and chips are great too.
Food is good and staff is kind and professional. Very appreciated the complimentary ice cream to close the dinner.
Came for the fish and chips as were good last time, I having booked with no real research. The mains were absolutely dismal, sent it back and had it taken off the bill. Save your money and time, don't eat here unless the fish and chips are available....
The menu is well judged, interesting and reasonably priced. The food was delicious, and the setting is lovely. We had a very enjoyable evening. Thank you!
Waiter was friendly and professional. Food is great from starter to dessert
Quirky gastropub with charming staff and good food.
Beautiful old Bloomsbury pub, great food and friendly staff.
