Great Sunday Brunch!
Great art deco atmosphere for Sunday brunch. Food was very good but not spectacular. Pastrami Hash sounded good but tasted more like BBQ pulled pork. Service was friendly but lacked. We sat with two rounds of dirty cocktail glasses at our table throughout the entire meal...and were never offered coffee refills (brunch time). Would I go back.... probably. The overall experience was good, and the ambiance was definitely "New York".
What a find! Located inside the Chatwal Hotel, we were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated promptly upon our arrival for our 8:30pm dinner reservation. The room is fantastic with red leather seating, a large fireplace and photos of Lambs Club members on the walls. We started with the curried crab and spaghetti squash crusted shrimp appetizers. For our main course, my wife had the petite filet and I had the dry aged Delmonico cut steak. Both were prepared perfectly. Make sure you get the fries with pastrami spices. The wine list is excellent. The sommelier assisted us with selecting a Brunello di Montalcino to pair with our steaks. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding with a glass of port. It was fantastic! The service at the Lambs Club is excellent. The hostess, wait staff and sommelier were all spot on.
If you are staying in the midtown area or seeing a broadway show, I highly recommend the Lambs Club.
Not a cheap place to eat, so you expect great food but it was only ok. My steak was cooked correctly and had good flavor but the accompanying things with it had not flavor and I’m not sure the purpose they served. My wife got the duck breast and they did not render the fat well. It was rubbery and a big disappointment. It was also very, very sweet. So she ordered the charred broccoli to try to offset all of the sweetness and it was not just charred, it was scorched. It was inedible. We raised that issue to two different people including our waiter and yet they still put it on the bill. After we told the waiter again it was a bad side and we were surprised they left it on the bill. It was up to them if they wanted to leave it on the bill. We would pay it but we’re surprised to see it there. Then the waiter went and finally took it off. We we’re happy to pay well for a great meal and unfortunately we just got to pay an expensive dinner.
Everything’s was fantastic!
Excellent butter squash soup and poached lobster on pasta , salads are exceptional, as well as the sticky toffee bread pudding
Very good service and excellent food. Thanks
We come here several times per year, and always once during the holiday season. The food is always very good. The menu varies periodically. Today was my son’s 27th birthday. The service was great —as always. We appreciate seeing familiar faces. It says something about a NY restaurant that they keep their people. We are not tourists and have expectations for places we like to go to more than once. This is a refined, classy, reliable, comfortable establishment.
Amazing place to have Brunch or Lunch or dinner.. Love the ambiance .. Great menu.. great service..
Love the music and singing on Sundays..
Fabulous evening in every way!
The ambiance was elegant, the service impeccable and the food superb. We could not have had a better dining experience on a busy December night in NYC!
I have done a few reviews for this restaurant...
Excellent food and service - a very enjoyable dinner!
We went there because I like GZ and when I found out this was his restaurant I wanted to go. The food was great, the decor, the service from our waiter but the issue was with the desert. My girlfriend and I decided to share the chocolate cake that was $15 on the menu and a after dinner drink, it was fantastic. When we got the check the desert said $30, I tried to get the waiter but he was not around and I guess it was the manager that came over and explained that when you split a desert it cost double. $30 for a piece of cake. His response is that the waiter should have told you that and grabbed a menu to show me the small print. When I started to raise my voice he kept interrupting me saying Sir,Sir,Sir. I said are you going to keep interrupting me or are you going to let me F....... talk. He finally decided to take it off the bill. I wasn’t looking for a free desert but to pay $15 dollars as advertised without the small print. Maybe he should have led with that. The check was $200 and I left a $40 tip because the waiter was fantastic and wasn’t going to let this jerk screw up his tip. A policy that charges you $15 for an extra fork is unheard of. I would have given a 5 star review except for this. He came back over to try to explain again and I had to tell him twice to get away from me. Good thing he didn’t try a third time for his sake. Thank you for ruining a great experience. This guy needs to learn some people skills before trying to manage a lemonade stand instead of this nice restaurant
The food was delicious. The wait staff could have been a little more attentive. Drinks were gone and we had to flag down our wait staff for additional drinks. The ambiance was very elegant with the Christmas decor.
Food excellent. Service OK
We wanted to love the Lamb's Club however we were pretty disappointed. The service was not good at all and we were told that our server had only been there for 3 days, but it didn't excuse the service we received. We went in for a pre-broadway pre-fixe menu seating. We ordered a bottle of wine and a few drinks as well and the service was slow. We sat for nearly 30 minutes before asked to order and our menus sat in front of us until the appetizers showed up. A drink we had brought down from the bar was finished before appetizers and remained on the table the entire time. Two in our party ordered the steak as medium-rare and they were cooked to medium-well but because it took so long to get our entree we didn't send them back as we needed to make it to a show that night. The food was very flavorful, but not cooked very well considering we paid an additional cost for them. One girl said her chicken was the best she ever had. We had to continue to remind the server we were seeing a show and needed to leave quickly but he still waited a while before bringing out dessert. Unfortunately, while the cake was beautiful it did not taste very fresh. I wanted to love this place but was pretty disappointed given the reputation and cost of the meal and restaurant. We loved the ambiance itself and all the appetizers were very good.
The Lambs Club is my favorite Midtown go to fine dining venue - fantastic ambience, great food, fine wine and warm, professional service. I indulged and selected the house smoked pastrami - which I think is perhaps the most delicious dish on the menu.
This has been one of our favorite spots before the theatre and my husband has hosted dinners in the private room. I was excited to share The Lambs Club with my friends and I ended up being embarrassed by my suggestion. The service was HORRIBLE. I think our waiter got assigned to another area and we were totally forgotten. I had to track down servers for every step of our meal from drink orders, to meal orders, to refills, to asking about dessert (included in our pre-theatre menu) to the bill. We ended up running to the theatre when we told our first waiter at 5pm that we had a 7pm reservation. We were just totally forgotten. That being said, the food was yummy, I love the ambience and we had a lovely corner table. I know this is not reflective of the Lambs Club but I was really disappointed for our ladies holiday outing.
One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The oatmeal was delicious, served with warm cream, honey and a nut mixture. Crispy potatoes were just that and the perfect fluffy texture inside. Creamy scrambled eggs and a flavorful breakfast bowl. Yummy pastries. Coffee is served with warm frothed milk. Everything from service to atmosphere was well done. Can't wait to go back!
Food was well prepared. Service was awful. Took 15 minutes for head waiter to come over. My wife then got her wine 10 minutes before my drink came. Head waiter never came back after taking drinks order. Bus girl took dinner order. No one checked in to make sure dinner was satisfactory.
Our food was just room temperature, as if it had been repaired and left to sit for a long time.
Excellent service from start to finish. We had a wonderful table by the fire place and tried the pre-matinee pre fixe. How delicious! The wines are very pricey but such is life so close to Times Square.
Excellent food and service. All four of us loved what we ordered. Bra Zibi, spaghetti with lobster sauce, salmon. Highly recommend.
The food is always good here, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They are often inadequately staffed. The waitstaff is very good, but stretched way too thin. Food sits on the table long after everyone is done eating. Getting a check or some attention is an endeavor. Have been eating here for years and it seems to be getting worse in this regard. Too bad.
We were celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday. She is a bit of a “foodie” so I surprised her with a special treat and made reservations at this restaurant. She loved the entire experience and so did I.
The food is delicious and the atmosphere beautiful and intimate. We did ask for well done fries and they did not come out that way. But they quickly brought them back to the kitchen and prepared them properly. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion
This restaurant never disappoints. The food is very good, it’s beautiful and the service is terrific and professional. Interesting menu that takes advantage of seasonal offerings.
Always find this a class act in the scrum of the theater district ...feel like I’m transported to a more genteel era. Food and service are excellent and the decor and ambiance fits the bill. Tables are spaced enough to have a private conversation and they always honor my request for a banquette at the end to ensure even more discretion !
The house baked bread is addictive, requiring will power not to order more. The Amish kitchen is a must order, crisp skin with moist meat and wonderful juice to pour over. Order the roasted, rainbow carrots as a side. The appetizer spaghetti squash wrapped crisp shrimp are different and worth ordering.
The food is always incredible but the service was unbelievably slow.
Perfect fir Sunday dinner. Quiet compared to most theater district restaurants. Food was great. Had the agnolotti which was outstanding. The sauce was heavenly. My friend had the lobster spaghetti which she loved. Look forward to a return visit
Loved our experience having a pre-theatre brunch at the Lambs Club! Like a step back in time with the decor and accompanying music. Had an excellent waiter who didn't rush us at all and was very attentive to our needs. Delicious menu options and excellent cappuccino. Bloody Mary wasn't bad either -- the tomato ice cubes were a nice touch! Def recommend.
The Lambs Club never disappoints!! The food is the star for sure, but the ambience and service is right there with it. We go to the Lambs Club every time we visit New York. It’s always the highlight.
Wonderful date night before a show food was delicious
Ultimate New York dining experience!
Fabulous breakfast in a swish, oak-panelled room with an open fire. Lovely
I did not have a good impression of my dirty Tito vodka martini with two tiny olives when reviews raved about your cocktails!! However our dishes of ora king salmon and lamb chops were both delicious. The romantic table by the fireplace would have been perfect if not for the very loud male guest next to us "bragging & cursing" about his business ventures to two male associates. I finally had enough and told them it was a our anniversary. A non truth... but it quieted their bad behaviour!
Fantastic food in a beautiful setting. Everything is delicious - the duck knocked our socks off. Great pre-theater dining.
Fab food & sensitive to our Theater schedule! We will come as often as we can when in town again!
