My daughter & I chose the Lampery for lunch as we were celebrating her birthday with a visit first to the Sky Garden. The food was exceptional & I would definitely recommend to others. The service was friendly & helpful.
Nice restaurant, good choice of food and spacious for a group dinner. Staff were service focus and friendly, food was tasty and portion sizes were ok. One observation to the management is to slow down the refill of glasses, it doesn't make sense to refill glasses that just have been refilled and not even touched. This made is feel that there was too much focus on drinks volume instead of customer needs.
Very disappointing experience
As a regular Open table user I find reviews an accurate indicator of the venue
Unfortunately my experience did not validate the previous ratings
Staff that ignored requests happened on three occasions by 3 separate staff
Descriptors of food was not accurate
Old produce was prevalent
Overall I would not choose to frequent this venue again
We went to the Lampery for set menu and free flowing prosecco at £42 for my friends birthday. There were 6 of us. The burger was delicious and desert was nice also. The ambience is chilled and romantic, right next to the four seasons hotel in Tower Hill so beautiful location. However, there was no free flowing prosecco. For what we spent all 6 of us, we probably ended up having 3 glasses of wine each in 90 minutes which was not as good as other places I have been to. The place was not busy so it was a bit of a shock to us as to why we had very limited prosecco.
A very good menu which suits a wide range of tastes and excellent service. A great place for a business lunch.
Excellent food - nice atmosphere, especially in the window area. Service is pretty average.
Food was superb. I had the lunch time steak and eggs and it was one of the best I’ve had.
Wine list isn’t hugely exciting.
My first time and very good for a business lunch and would recommend.
This was the best meal we had in London. Food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We will absolutely be returning on our next trip!
Nice surroundings and nice waiters.
The food was ok.
The music for the breakfast was loud and stressful so it wasn't cozy to be. We would have preferred something more relaxing.
Excellent food and service. Portions on the small side but all very tasty.
Food was bad, dry and highly over priced. Too loud music and chaotically moving waiters. They aren't serving and listening customers. The bill and drinks need to be ordered twice and there was too much charged things, extra water and kids menu included desserts but not on our bill. Not recommending to anyone. I don't understand any other people recommends. It is crappy place.
Dear JarkkoJ, Thank you dining and for your review as well as your two reviews on TripAdvisor. We are sorry you left disappointed and this is not what we are all about at The Lampery. Our Food and Drink Manager will be in touch with you soon for more details. We hope that we can restore your faith in The Lampery. Warm regards, Brian Tapson General Manager
We were in London on holiday over Christmas day and decided to book a table for our family of 5. We were promptly seated and the restaurant was very nice and festive looking. They had Christmas poppers for us which was a nice, fun touch. While the food was good, I felt it was a bit overpriced (55 euro for an appetizer, main dish (with plenty of shared sides) and dessert. The biggest issues were 1) the service was awful. We were one of the first tables for dinner, so it was not due to being overcrowded. We ordered a glass of wine with our foie gras and were almost done eating before the wine arrived. We then ordered a second glass of wine to go with our main meal, and again, were done eating before the wine arrived. Our food would have gone cold had we waited. 2) It was unbearably hot. All 5 of us literally had sweat dripping down our backs, and we were definitely NOT overdressed for the time of year. In fact, two of my kids just had a single layer dress shirt on.
Es un buen restaurante y el sitio es muy acogedor.
La comida exquisita de muy buena calidad.
Disappointing visit, having seen the festive menu on offer with "free flowing" Prosecco it was disappointing to be told on arrival that this had to be pre-booked as it had certainly not been mentioned on opentable at the point of booking. I was advised I should have added it to the special requirements field or additional comments. As a result for our Christmas lunch there was not turkey available or one of the starters. We were offered an alternative set menu but by this time the whole experience had put us of. We had a starter and main. To be fair we were brought some aranci balls as a gesture of goodwill, however it was too little too late and we left rather underwhelmed and disappointed that a festive lunch was not forthcoming.
Shame as actually it seemed like a nice place and food we had was tasty. The service at times was also quite slow.
Hi CherylIS Thank you for choosing The Lampery and for your review. We appreciate all our guest comments and I have reached out to your privately for more details. I do hope that we can restore your faith in The Lampery and welcome you back soon. Warm regards, Brian Tapson General Manager
It was absolutely freezing, with aircon on and even when we requested they turn up the heat nothing happened. We had to wear overcoats throughout.
It was a disaster.
Dear DavidB, Thank you for dining and for your review. I am sorry to hear that your experience was marred by the heating issue. Please be assured that we have briefed the team as this would have been any easy fix for our Maintenance team or Duty Manager to adjust the room temperature. I have been in touch with your privately and we hope that we can restore your faith in The Lampery. Warm regards, Brian Tapson General Manager
Food was ok, over priced for what it was though. Service was shocking though, not enough waiting staff. Took ages to place an order and then took ages to get the bill. Not good.
Came here for a business meal with a table of 6 - requested a quiet table to enable chatting and were placed at the very end of the restaurant where table was spacious and quiet, much appreciated. It was very warm there so asked for temperature to be adjusted which was done - very nice. The drinks area was busy and noisy, but the restaurant area only had a few diners - this did not really bother us. Service was attentive, staff had smiles on, and it was an overall pleasant experience. Food was pretty good, but not amazing. Would come back for similar occasions.
Really lovely relaxed lunch time spot in the City. The wild boar pasta was to die for!!
The restaurant appears to be attached to The Apex hotel. It is however pretty empty. On recollection there were only 1 or 2 other parties dining. There was a lack of atmosphere but that allowed us to talk easily.
Service was good without being over attentive but was rather dispassionate - perhaps a sign that the waiting staff were bored at the lack of covers.
Food was okay but could have been eaten at any other establishment.
I don’t think it will be High on our list of places to come back to. Not because it was bad but that there was nothing to make us go back.
Thank you for choosing The Lampery. Being half term, the area and the Hotel and Restaurant is quieter than usual. However, we are very sorry to hear that our team did not appear engaged and that the food was not to a high standard. Please be assured that this is not our usual standard. I have personally addressed your comments with the team. We do hope that we can change your mind and invite you back soon. Warm regards, Brian Tapson General Manager
I cannot remember the last time I had such diabolical service and not even an apology. The food was average, but I give a poor rating as my steak, which I ordered medium rare, came well done, but because it had taken an hour to bring after the starters I didn't have time to send it back. Very disappointed.
Thank you for choosing The Lampery. We are very disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience and offer our sincerest apologies. Please be assured that we have addressed your comments with our Head Chef and the team. We have been in touch with you personally and hope that we can restore your faith in The Lampery. Warm regards, Brian Tapson General Manager
It was so cold that both I and my business companion were uncomfortable which really affected our enjoyment of the lunch. The food was excellent. The staff a bit over -attentive but the over the top aircon is a put off
Hi Monica, Thank you for choosing The Lampery. We are delighted that you enjoyed the food and that the team looked after you. We are sorry that your experience was marred by the air conditioning and assure you that this issue has been resolved. We do hope that we can welcome you back soon. Warmest regards, Brian Tapson General Manager
An elegant restaurant, boasting delicious, lovingly-prepared food and attentive, considerate service. It is a sizeable place so could probably cater for large or small groups. Given the quality of the food and the overall feel of class, the prices are thoroughly reasonable.
Competent service for a hotel restaurant. Interesting menu. Surprised that we were not offered any side dishes as the mains certainly would have benefitted from some veg.
Enjoyed good food (salad and fish and chips), nice wine with attentive service. Nicely decorated, would return and recommend.
This was a really great find just behind the Tower of London. Excellent restaurant, great service and the food was wonderful. There aren't many restaurants in that area, so really pleased to find this; will definitely go back when next in the area.
Booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner. Food was okay; nothing special. The atmosphere was pleasant with excellent service, however, we were unfortunate enough to be joined by a furry friend! Management tried to make up for the appearance of the mouse by deducting the service charge from our bill and providing us with a complimentary drink and dessert. Appreciated their effort to rectify the situation but this was definitely a memorable experience for the wrong reasons.
Really nice place. Can't fault it. I had an espresso martini in a pretty big glass so I was happy with that! Value is on the better end of average I'd say.
Food very good and choice on menu varied. Great location and music spot on.
we had a late lunch so it was a quiet time of day but unlike web picture there is no outside seating in a grassy area, the tables are on the pavement overlooking the back of the Fourseasons so not particularly scenic at all. The food was good but portions small for the £22 charge for a main so not good value.
A great find down a side street. Off the beaten track so not noisy with little road noise. Service was great and food was good. Delicious cocktails. Only let down by the waiter taking ages to collect the bill and take payment.
From then website this restaurant looked really nice.
However on arrival we found the music to be too loud.
The wait staff where rude, lent over us, touched food and made mistakes.
The food was nice, but not for the price. It was a best pub food.
Great food and wonderful service but the meal was marred by the rubbish truck directly outside the restaurant, making quite some noise for about 10-15 minutes. It was a warmish day so the doors were pushed open to allow the air to flow through, which was lovely for the most part but unfortunate for the restaurant when the truck came along.
Overall the restaurant was not bad but there were a few issues. A booking amendment from 8 people to 10 people was not correctly processed so we had to move another table to our main table ourselves. The food was very slow, and an extra request of fries was not brought, despite having been asked for more than once. The food itself was excellent though, so it is a shame that the service let the experience down.
Booked here for my girlfriend’s birthday, and couldn’t have been more disappointed; pulldown projector is too close to the restaurant, and due to the late running Wimbledon semi-final, that was still going on until late into the night (it ruined the whole atmosphere) - sports bar or posh restaurant, decide?!
In terms of food, ridiculously overpriced for the quality and extremely disappointing - too salty, too average and too bland.
The location is nice and airey and very pleasant on a sunny day. Food was good but the service was very slow, considering the restaurant was not full.
Food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. No personal connection - might have well have been in McDonalds.
When we arrived, the football was being shown on a giant screen. I hadn't been advised that the restaurant would be showing sport when I'd booked, and the table that we had reserved was right next to the screen, where we could barely hear ourselves. We asked to be moved, which we were, but had to sit inside which was a shame as the outdoor seating would have been very pleasant if it hadn't been for the very loud football. Service was a bit slow but otherwise good, food was nice.
I booked due to the offer with Open Table 2 courses for £25 etc, however when I asked about the offer, the waiter appeared to have no idea what I was talking about and I was advised that there was no such offer. However, when I showed him the offer on my phone, he immediately recalled the offer but said he had to check with his colleague which took a good 15 minutes. Thereafter, we asked to order and then had to wait another 15 minutes before they were taken, and this was only because we called them over again to explain we were on our lunch hour. At no point we're we asked for our drinks orders (although we were given tap water). It was difficult to understand the excessive delays. The restaurant was not busy and there appeared to be surplus staff!
When we received our orders - I have to day the food was really nice. Were it not for the inadequate service, I would have been happy to return.
The waiter was also very unimpressed when we asked the descrectionary tip from the receipt.
Midweek business lunch with an old colleague. In brief, a mixed bag overall.
Liked the bright, airy room, with views of Savage Gardens and Ten Trinity Square. Tables not too close together, which is a pleasant change for Central London. Food was good: particularly recommend the steak tartare, and my friend's steak and eggs looked most impressive.
Pricing is about average for the type and location of (City/West End) venue.
Service was friendly, BUT painfully slow: bordering on unacceptably slow. Also, we were given the bill for another table; then it took in excess of 15-20 minutes for the correct one to be delivered - and only after a reminder.
The Lampery has the makings of an excellent venue, but a lot of work still needs to be done in terms of customer service.
