The Last Wine Bar & Restaurant
The food is modern, honest and largely locally-sourced, and you can choose from bar, set and a la carte menus, all of which are regularly updated.
There are around 60 carefully-chosen wines available, with more than two-thirds offered by the glass or carafe. Alongside the classics are the unusual and the esoteric; you are encouraged to Drink Different.
As well as the food and wine, the longevity of the Last is down to its unrivalled, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The relaxed ambience has inspired a loyal following across nearly three decades; Norwich without The Last is unthinkable.
First visit after seeing the owner interviewed on T.V. We wanted to support and we weren’t disappointed. Great food and great decor. We’ll be back soon.
Meal out for husband’s birthday. Menu delicious but also interesting. Not just weird combinations for the sake of it that look great but don’t taste good. Crab donut and Octopus KFC were real highlights. Husband not a dessert fan so ended up having another portion of the Octopus instead! Lovely friendly service and all covid safe whilst still feeling cosy (good lighting). Finally it’s amazing value for the quality of food served. We’re not local so can’t visit often but anyone who should make this a regular haunt I’d say.
Very nice meal and good service with a good atmosphere a little pricey but we both enjoyed the evening
Excellent food in a lovely setting & attentive staff
Excellent meal. So glad you’re back and in such good form!
Fabulous! I would highly recommend going. The staff are very welcoming and attentive.
As always, a perfect evening! Not often I have three courses but I just couldn’t resist the dessert menu!
Excellent service, superb food ... social distancing is well planned. All in all a thoroughly wonderful evening
Tried the famous Cromer Crab Donuts and the new Kentucky Fried Octopus both wonderful.
Really interesting and well prepared food in a cool dining room
We had a table booked for 6.30, felt slightly rushed when ordering our desserts and told we had to leave table by 8.20. dessert was rushed and staff seemed overwhelmed. Food was delicious and so was the wine.
The best food around! Always amazing. It never disappoints.
Great lunch food was amazing service could not have been better even as what music we would like the waiter and waitress could have not been more helpful and the kitchen made me a little birthday sweet can nor recommend it high enough
The food was good, but maybe a little overpriced. We were downstairs where it's a lot noisier, perhaps due to the number of hard furnishings in the small space, and we were by the kitchen. The service was very very good and the wine, exquisite.
Long term customers, but first time back after lockdown. We are aware that the Last has changed management in that time and we’re excited to eat there again. The food was very good as always, exceptional starters (crab donut and KFC style squid), husband was pleased with his steak, my venison burger was properly cook but a little bland. I had the dessert of chocolate pannacota but because of the serving dish it was difficult to get to the main event under all the topping. Whilst the food was very good the service let it down. It seemed like they were short staffed, or our waitress may have been new, however she was very forgetful. We had to ask twice for pre dinner drinks which finally arrived with our starter and then we had to ask twice for coffee at the end of the meal.
It was lovely to see it busy, The Last has a special place in lots of peoples hearts but the service has always been excellent and it would be a shame for that to change now.
We have always enjoyed the Last Bar and have been looking forward to it reopening since lockdown and now under new ownership, so we were really looking forward to our visit, but sadly it didn't measure up to it's usual standard.
We arrived for our 7PM Friday booking in the bar and were shown to our table, nicely spread out for distancing etc.
But sadly the waitress seemed overwhelmed with the section she was running and the service was poor to say the least, no offer of top up drinks all meal, no offer of extra bread, no checking on how the food was, no plates given for a shared cheese board and what felt like rushed service. I understand if staff might be new, but on a Friday night?
The food was tasty, but the portion size seemed small for the price- not a complaint until my wife had a Butternut squash dish, which at £17 seemed expensive for 1 slice of squash. We mentioned this to our waitress (not for a refund for the chef to know) who spoke to the manager, who never even came over to speak to us at all, in fact not at any point during the meal. We wish for the Last bar to flourish under its new owner, which is why these things need sorting ASAP to keep this wonderful restaurant wonderful.
Mouthwatering food! We've eaten better before-it's out go to special date night place. But this time the food was out of this world good! We even took pictures and we never do that. The filet steak was there best I've ever had and the octopus was sublime. We're already planning our next trip.
Fabulous as always! Creative, beautiful, and delicious!!
Family get-together. Pre, daughter returning to University.
First time at The Last Wine Bar. Good atmosphere and all the food we had was delicious - would be very happy to eat there again.
Felt the restaurant was looking after its customers and staff well regarding ‘Covid’ safety arrangements.
Staff very pleasant.
Food was fantastic and despite being away for some time The Last has come back really strong. Great seats and good service. Great value for money.
Had been waiting impatiently for The Last Wine bar to reopen and it did not disappoint. Pretty sure that the Crab Donut was even better than before.
Fantastic menu , beautifully prepared and presented food and great staff.
Our first time back since the Last reopened under new management. The atmosphere was reassuringly familiar and the food was top-notch.
It's slightly more expensive than it used to be but it's still reasonably priced.
All in all, it was a very nice meal.
A great meal with fab service and well organised SD arrangements - we'll be back!
The service was excellent as well as the food. The wine by the glass was limited for a wine bar, but the staff were very kind to accommodate my request by opening a bottle and selling by the glass. Thanks guys, that made my evening.
Also, the art work displayed was a pleasant bonus. I’ll return on my next visit it Norwich.
REALLY Great food. Desserts were super. Fantastic waiter
It is wonderful that The Last has re-opened again and we wish all the very best to the new owners Ian and Bonnie. We enjoyed a perfect meal with super friendly and warm service. The Plum Pavlova was the best dessert I have ever had at the Last and would definitely recommend you try this !! We are so looking forward to going for a roast dinner when The Last starts opening on Sundays.
Always a great experience dining at The Last the place is always buzzing.
Good selection of food, unhurried but friendly service and great wines.
Great food, excellent service if we lived nearer we’d be regulars
Really lovely food, friendly service, we love this place!
We always enjoy our evenings at Last. The staff are just so friendly, helpful and make an effort to remember you and what you like, which is lovely. Food is of a high standard too.
Fabulous service, especially by the northern girl! Food was outstanding too - great restaurant.. we will be back!
The restaurant was quite empty when we went for lunch. The service was good - our waitress was friendly and efficient and the food was really good so would definitely go again and recommend to others.
As usual checked the reviews and booked a table for Friday, based on the very good feedback. Who writes these reviews? This place is at best mediocre. Wine and service OK - the food uninspired, bland , small portions and not that cheap. Haunch of venison - tough and tasteless - all in all a real disappointment - if you want good food in Norwich go to the Cote Brasserie
Excellent service and food
Food very good as always, but service was incredibly slow
Bearing in mind the extractor fan wasn’t working and the smoke alarm went off, the staff offered us another table but we were content where we were sitting. The staff couldn’t do enough for us .
Always amazing food, great service and a lovely atmosphere! 😊
My favourite restaurant in Norwich
The staff set the tone as soon as you walk up to the bar. Their enthusiasm is infectious and our whole evening was just as we hoped it would be. This visit went a long way to making my birthday trip to Norwich a big success - thank you.
Lasts remains one of the best eateries in Norwich. Great ambience in the bar and the right balance between offering fine dining but with a more relaxed edge. Food was excellent with the doughnut stuffed with oxtails outstanding.
we were stuck behind a pillar across from the main bar which is not nice.
Whoever thought charcoal added to mayonnaise is edible needs to be shot ,just awful ,all the staff are nice.
