The Litchfield Saltwater Grille
Join us in front of the fire in the lounge, in one of our four quiet dining rooms, or out on the patio (weather permitting!).
This was awful. Service was horrible. Took her for ever to take an order for dinner and when dinner finally came out one was missing
There are much better options in town. Avoid!!
Our server was very inattentive. We had to ask for water multiple times and she did not check on our food once delivered until we had completed our meal. Atmosphere is very nice. My salad was just ok. I would not rush back to the restsurant.
Wonderful experience as usual with my husband at our favorite restaurant. Customer service is always excellent both with the wait staff and hosts who greet you.
In fact when we arrived the host was on the phone with a customer but rather then us waiting he asked a colleague to seat us! Its always like that there and the food is excellent
Try the seafood tower and if you like spicy their Hot and Spicy Dirty Harry Martini is literally the best drink ever!
Disappointing to say the least. After a wonderful plate of oysters, the rest of the meal was pretty poor. My fish was badly undercooked on one side and properly cooked on the side that showed. It was fluke "stuffed with lobster"-stuffed with one piece of the end of a claw which I usually throw out as it's rubbery and not worth eating. My three dining companions weren't exactly raving either. Only the oysters (which are pretty tough to ruin since they're raw) were a standout. Service was slow although the waitress was nice enough. I'm guessing I won't be returning. There are better choices in the neighborhood.
The last couple of times the noise level was much too high. This time, it was just right. If you want to be able to hear yourself, go early and leave the later dinners to the noisy.
Service and food were excellent
Everything we were served was great. Best fish and chips I ever had
The food was great. Service was great. Love the rustic ambience. The only downside was, they offer a 7:45 PM and an 8 PM reservation. We took the 7:45 PM and by 8 o’clock we were the last ones in the place so we felt like we had to rush. They didn’t necessarily give the impression that we had to but once they started counting the cash in the register and it looked like they were cleaning up we felt we had to get moving. The server asked us if we wanted dessert and we probably would have had dessert and a cup of coffee but we didn’t want to keep them any longer than they had to be there so we said no and left. I would go back but I wouldn’t take one of the last reservations again. There is a bar so we figured OK maybe the kitchen just closes at 8 PM and people will still be having drinks at the bar but that was not the case.
The food is excellent and service has been good in the past. I hope the my last visit is the exception and not the norm.
Had a longish wait for service. Once served the experience was pleasant. The food was satisfactory yet unremarkable. The sweet potato crab cake was basically a sweet potato cake. Chicken quinoa soup was adequate yet lacking in flavor. Wine choices were good. Background music was pleasant.
Always great local favorite
Spice challenged food. Very fresh, very bland. Seated and then forgotten for 20 minutes. Service when it began was fine.
The Saltwater Grill is in beautiful Litchfield, a town in NW Connecticut. My husband and I live in Arizona and travel to Connecticut about twice a year. This was our second time at the Saltwater Grille and it did not disappoint. The fresh oysters were so juicy and delicious I couldn't believe we were not actually sitting by the sea. Our main course, fish of course, was also delicious and was accompanied by wild rice and fresh vegetables. Our server was attentive and made us feel very welcome and at ease. We started outside, until the mosquitoes came, and then we were easily shifted in to a booth by a window. If you want good seafood without the crowds and the long drive to the coast, this is a great alternative.
Great experience! The food was great and the service was very good.
Exactly what we were hoping for. Our waitress, Marie, was great, friendly, carried on good conversation, no rush whatsoever. Everything we had, from drinks, appetizers, main meal and dessert was delicious. All within a more casual environment. Sitting on the deck under the roofline, was great. Definitely recommend
Went with a Groupon and had a wonderful experience. Would return. Food and service were great
Our service was exceptional (Courtney Quinn), and we had a wonderful time. Thanks!
Maybe, but very pricey for what
you get. Sat in bar, way too noisy. Erik read tarot cards and he was awesome.
Very very good would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes great seafood or steak
We tried the restaurant for the first time with a groupon we were given. It was a delight! Oysters were fresh and briny, steak and lobster were delicious, raw pepper encrusted tuna was perfect. The only complaint was the mustard and parm encrusted cod was not encrusted at all-it’s absolutely delicious but there is no crust. Service was lovely!
Terrific service by Courtney! Very pleasant and a delightful person. Food was great. Scott the chef customized a menu item to my wife’s choice which was very accommodating. Had a very pleasant conversation with Andy the owner at the end of the evening.
One of our favorite places to have a good meal! Wait staff courteous and efficient...never disappointed.
Loved this place. We had a reservation for 6:30 and got there an hour early. We had a drink at the bar and had our cards read. Everyone was super friendly and the food and service was superb
Great food! And that can be hard to accomplish with seafood! Our server Kat was terrific! Would recommend to our friends and family! A little pricey but worth it.
Excellent food and service!
Bread was excellent. Food was kind of rich and not too well flavored.
The crab cake poached eggs and sauce was outstanding.
There were 4 in our party, not one had a complaint.
We will definitely be back.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner from the rolls, all the way to dessert! Everything was good to perfection. No complaints here!
Our waitress was awesome. She always came to check to ensure we were happy with everything. She was so nice. Even helped my husband select a drink that he said was amazing .
Looking forward to coming again!
Extremely good food. Good seafood. Great waitstaff / hostess / staff in general. Everyone is super nice. Totally worth the price. I got the sweet potato crab cakes, the cheese plate, and the bread pudding and everything was delicious. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely go back again. Thank you !
SWG is a lot better than It once was. The overall experience was pleasant and the menu had something for each of us.
Sunday brunch using lunch menu. Very good food and service, will definitely return in future.
Came with a party of 6 and everyone just loved the food , coffee and cocktails. Our server was delightful as well.
We had a very good waitress and the service was excellent.
The food was much better than the last time we dined here so perhaps
there is a new talent in the kitchen.
Overall we were very satisfied and will definitely return.
Absolutely fabulous, particularly appreciated the attention of the manager who greeted us and sent us off, great waitress.
We had dinner there on July 4th. 1st time. Everything was great. The drinks, food, specials and service were excellent. To top it off, I had mentioned briefly to the server that it was our anniversary and she automatically told us that we'd get a split of prosecco on the house. Will definitely be back. The clams on the half shell were fresh and delicious.
Enjoyed it very much. We have eaten here twice and it’s been excellent every time.
Sat outside- our server was exceptional. The special was duck which was delicious. Our table also had the swordfish which they enjoyed. We all look forward to going back again.
The food was good. The service was very slow. The host seemed upset that we asked for an outside table, saying he had to make sure there were no other reservations for it. The place was about 60% empty and remained that way during our meal so I don't see what the fuss was about.
I was looking for a good seafood restaurant. We went and ordered the calamari which was under cooked, the small amount of marinara sauce was good.(ask for extra if you go)
The clam chowder lacked taste and clams.
The broiled salmon was excellent , the rice was cold and the vegetable added color not much volume.
The sweet potato crab cakes were sweet potato’s! No real crab flavor or content very disappointing. I did not eat them took them home for a vegetable side dish($24.00).
The table bread service as advertised was non existent until we asked for bread during the main coarse and no butter offered.
I left a review for the owner but was disappointed he did not reach out to me. If he had I probably would not have taken the time to reply to this survey.
Outdoor area was wonderful. Waitstaff was very friendly and helpful
