The Little Owl
A regular family meeting and always meet here for a meal as the atmosphere is always great, handy location, lovely front endless service with good food at a great price. Ticks all the boxes 😊
Excellent food, surroundings and service. Would certainly go again.
Food was dried out, main meal was served too quickly after starter and looked as if it had sitting under heat. Presentation was disgusting no finesse whatsoever. Incorrect bill was given. We visited this establishment some time ago and vowed we would never return but did so knowing that it was under new management thinking it would have improved, but it is was extremely disappointing.
Had a lovely seat by the fire. Burger and Pizza were both excellent and the bread stick starter was superb. Coffee was weak though.
Drove from Manchester to Birmingham in horrendous traffic and had booked a table for Friday night meal before NEC show on Sat - food was really really good [ although there was a slight mix-up with the soup ] , the price for a three course meal for two was on par and the staff assistance was exceptional [ they couldnt do enough for the patrons ].My special thanks goes to the lady from Dublin who looked after our table - an accent to melt any heart XxX
Dining at the Little Owl is such a joyful experience and the staff are very friendly. The food is top notch and I recommend this restaurant pub to anyone for that is either staying at the hotel next door or are just passing through the area.
Brilliant staff very helpful on a very busy weekend for them, due to a local convention. Food lovely, all 9 in our party of friends were very pleased with quality of food
We were pleasantly surprised this time to find that what we ordered was still available, but it was very early in the evening. We were very disappointed in the dessert, 'Eton Mess, which consisted of whipped cream with a total of three blueberries - no strawberries or raspberries. If there are no berries available it would be more honest to take this dish off the menu.
Shirt staffed and had run out of many of the dishes on the main menu
We arrived 10 minutes early for out 8.30pm booking. I got some drinks for me and my wife and then we were seated by a server. We were handed some menus as soon as we sat at the table. After one hour, we had not been approached by anyone so we got up and left. The place was virtually empty so there is no excuse, they obviously don't need the business
Freezing cold pub had to move numerous times, food was awful had to send numerous things back an service was poor!
A lovely meal to finish a hectic day at BrickLive. Waitress was great with the children and they are keen to go back. Service was prompt which suited a very hungry 13 yr old and permanently hungry 9 year old.
Bit of a wait to be seated but the service was quite good. Food was OK, my starter was supposed to come with apricot chutney but had raspberry jam instead as they had no chutney. Didn't really go with the deep fried brie. Mains were quite good though.
Went for Sunday lunch. No gas for lemonade or tonic water. No lamb shank. No YORKSHIRE puddings. Food arrived before drinks. My friends Beef was rare in the middle so she only ate one slice. Parsnip was hard and crispy. My Turkey dinner was nice but not a big portion. Went there a couple of months back and size of the meal was definitely bigger. The Apple pie was a very small portion and I did mention this to the waitress who said that was the right size at £4.90 I did expect bigger. Unfortunately it will be quite awhile before I return.
The waitress said she was trying to produce the food more quickly. There was presumably a problem in the kitchen. We arrived at 6.20 and having two courses only, we left at gone 8 pm
The waitress clearly was under some pressure, the perspiration was easy to see on her forehead.
Members of my family said that there were 5 waitresses in the restaurant, so staff numbers seemed visable.
She got the brunt of our complaints, having stopped her twice and asked where our mains were.
The food when it arrived was of poor quality. My steak had more than the usual amount of fat, and gristle was evident too. It probably was the right size of steak, but was a thin cut so had my doubts.
We were attending a convention at the Genting Arena for three days and sadly had booked into Little Owl for three evenings, being close to the Holiday Inn.
nice evening friendly staff excellent meal value for money
Once again somewhat under-whelmed by this particular Vintage Inn. For my main I ordered the duo of lamb and whilst the rump was fine the mini-shepherd's pie was poor. The vegetables were also over-cooked and spartan. My colleague opted for a burger meal that he did not rate above 4/10. However, the biggest issue was the incredibly slow service when the restaurant was perhaps only one-third full and the unapologetic manner of the staff as if it were the norm!
Having tried the Litlle Owl three times now, we have concluded it is one to give a miss and we will not be returning.
Fabulous place with a relaxed warm atmosphere and great food
To be fair, and after a poor experience at this particular Vintage Inn before, we thought we would give it another try while in the area. It still left us under-whelmed and not with the same good feeling we have enjoyed previously in the Vintage Inn chain of pub/restaurants. We still do not feel we could recommend this one even though a significant improvement on our previous visit.
I think we will just have to put this one down to a "Bad Day at the Office" for the Little Owl. I would estimate the restaurant had some 60+ diners and appeared completely over-whelmed? We placed an order for starters and main courses. Well over an hour later (and after two gentle reminders) my starter, expected to be served in a sizzling garlic juice, arrived and was lukewarm and under-cooked. My wife's starter was badly prepared and tasted strange. We were offered a drink while they rectified our first course issues but a further 45 minutes later and still no new starters we finally gave up and went to the hotel micro-wave option next door.
