Concerned that we were the only people in the restaurant. Good food and great location near to canal basin. Merits more customers.
Great food as always, surprisingly quiet for a Sunday lunchtime but made talking easier
Good location near town, but still with a country feel. Nice rooms, nice restaurant and bar and fine beer and tasty food.
Very nice food, however we were the only ones there so not much of an atmosphere.
Regardless we enjoyed ourselves with my partner, it be nice to see tea jugs cleaned however as the one we were given wasn't washed properly. We will however definitely go back because everything else was great! Would love to see this place busy, COVID please leave already!
Food was lovely but restaurant was a bit cold.
Decent Sunday lunch; we were surprised that the tables were as close to each other as they were, and there were no screens in place. Not sure about that aspect with regard to Coronavirus
Fabulous food and great atmosphere. Staff were working hard to keep standards high during covid times. Clean and great atmosphere. Sunday lunch was perfection. Desserts were heavenly!!
Amazing find! Such a lovely place, great Sunday roast with 2 course/3 course menu option. Service was great, friendly and attentive staff. Nice outdoor area too.
Great food, good service, felt safe as covid procedure in place, well observed, will definitely go back
The food and staff were excellent would definitely. The only downside was there seem to be a function in the marquee and very often they the people inside were walking back into the pub drunk with no masks on which personally with the current pandemic showed little respect to others who was in the pub at the time.
Although social distancing was in place, the staff took everything in their stride, making us feel very welcome, and also very much at ease. The confit of duck was one of the most exquisite offerings that I've ever eaten. Breakfasts were top-hole, but beware that they're not available every morning (if you're staying in The Moorings).
Excellent service and very tasty food. All social distancing guidelines maintained and upheld by friendly staff who deserve a medal for having to wear those masks for so long!
As a regular visitor to the Lock Keepers a refresh of the menu is needed. Food is good but needs to rotate dishes periodically.
A delicious brunch, great atmosphere & service. Look forward to returning
Excellent food and good value. Only negative was the track and trace QR was only noticed on way out. Staff should of checked.
We visited with two friends for my hubby’s birthday enjoyed. We thought the menu was very limited but we all enjoyed what we had.
Small menu selection. Could be a lot cosier with dimmed lighting, candles lit. But the food was presented very nicely and piping hot. The staff were attentive and very good value house wine.
Simple menu and efficient service. Felt safe. Will go again
Excellent service Food was very good Cleanliness was outstanding especially in the bathrooms
Lovely location with plenty of parking to the side. It has a great outside seating on the river side with a large pergola over the tables and chairs which are well spaced. Brunch was fine - but it was just the little things that could be improved - ie Service was on the slow side, hot cappuccino's rather than luke-warm, have the cutlery on the table before hot food is served - by the time we had cutlery, our food had got quite cold as we were outside. There is a lovely short walk along the canal, which is worth exploring afterwards.
A gem of a place near to the City of Gloucester. Lovely views across the river. Good food and friendly staff. Well worth visiting. Will come again.
This is our new 'local', it is such a lovely place to meet up with friends. Food is fabulous and the service efficient and friendly. I don't want to 'big it up' too much because then it will become too popular! However, I recommend it to everyone I know!
Decor is modern and layout is good, didn’t feel too close to any other tables. Food was nice, would be good to see a bit more choice on the menu other than burgers/salads. Kids portions were great. Staff were all lovely however we had to flag someone down to get a drink top up and we never got a desert menu until after we asked for the bill.....after waiting quite a while, felt a bit forgotten about. Would return though to try the roast on a Sunday. Nice little spot by the basin for a short walk after your meal.
We had a quick dinner on the way back from the Forest of Dean. We booked an hour in advance, it was not busy around 6 pm and we had a quick service. Nice garden and view on the old lock and some longboats around the back. Quiet location away from the busy road.
Apleasant place, near Gloucester, for a relaxed outdoor lunch
Lovely lamb burger with rustic chips and coleslaw.
Good service. Lukewarm cider. Tasty meals served hot. Eton mess disappointing! More like angel delight with strawberries and sparsely crumbled meringue on top. Not overly chilled. No hand sanitiser on entry and no one way system. Would go again but after Covid but not No 1 on our return list
The service was quite slow and social distancing doesn’t seem to be a priority with tables very close. The food was nice but not exceptional and the “large” glass of wine was debatable! Overall I have had better meals there. Every beer we tried to order they didnt have, the atmosphere was lacking and the waitress that was dealing with our order was inexperienced. I was disappointed, but would return for another try.
Lovely staff and the food was so delicious. Will definitely visit again.
We enjoyed a lovely anniversary meal in the sunshine. Food was delicious and we were well looked after. We will definitely be backx
So nice to get out and feel normal again. Lovely meal and no washing up a bonus
Unusual times due to covid 19. The menu was very, very reduced due to our global circumstances. Staff were helpful and efficient. The food was very good too.
No beer on tap (probably due to legislation). it felt safe and clean. Tables a little closer than I expected, but two doors wide open meant it was very well ventilated. Sadly, and no fault of the restaurant, the smell of muck spreading from the local farm was rather invasive.
I would recommend this restaurant and would go there again when muck spreading is over!
Enjoyed our lunch, partly at government expense but would go back again when the scheme stops. Nicely served, friendly staff but service just a bit slow.
Great, friendly service and an excellent breakfast.
We came here for our anniversary, and I was a little nervous it would be heaving and horrible, but there was enough distance between all the tables, so I was at ease instantly. We had an amazing meal, the burgers were great, (my only criticism would be that they could've been a bit more pink), the drinks lovely and the desserts amazing! Thank you!
Great food, lovely location, currently on a special diet and they accommodated that. Clean and loads of alcohol gel amaing to see
We had an excellent time at the Lock Keepers to celebrate my mother’s birthday. It was definitely our best post-lockdown dining experience, feeling relaxed and yet safe and appropriate, with good tasty food in pleasant surroundings. We will definitely be back.
Lovely setting with outside tables on a warm evening, service was excellent although only about a quarter full. A limited menu but interesting choices. And value for money. Desserts probably a little less choice.
Overall definitely worth a visit.
Stayed in the local area for the weekend and looked for somewhere to eat before we left. Noticed that ‘The Lockkeepers’ had good reviews so booked it up. It didn’t disappoint, the food was lovely and the service was great, also a great location. Would definitely recommend!
Lovely breakfast - beautifully cooked. Great coffee! Lovely friendly service. Highly recommend.
