The Locksbrook Inn
We pride ourselves on our fresh, locally sourced ingredients, creating some of the best modern British pub dining in Bath
We are open every day for drinks, brunch, coffee, lunch, evening meals and grazing in between
We had lovely sharer starters but the meals were diabolical. My husband's roast was stone cold. He sent it back and they microwaved it! As if that wasn't bad enough it still wasn't hot and he sent it back as wouldn't eat it. My mum's bread sauce was still cold out of the fridge and a solid lump. The cauliflower cheeses were cold, stodgy and lacked sauce. She left over half of her meal. The veggie and normal burger were ok but the chips has clearly been refried as they were hollow filled with grease. My husband went to talk to the manager and he took 1 roast and 1 cauliflower cheese off and offered desserts. As over half of the food ordered on the night was awful we declined dessert and went off in search of a kebab van. It ended up being an expensive evening for everyone to still be hungry.
Great for a group or party lunch. Lovely space and decor. V good food. No complaints apart from noisy party beside us but I guess it’s that time of year.
On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile and shown to our table. The booking service is great.
Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. The menu was varied and the food excellent. We will visit again when in the area.
Good quick service, food was to a good standard and the right amount for a Sunday lunch. Will definitely go again.. Thanks
I love the Locksbrooke Inn in Bath. My Daughter lives here so in the Summer it’s the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by on the canal and eat and drink. This visit was for breakfast with 6 of us. The pub is wonderfully decorated, spacious, friendly and the food is lovely. We’ll be back soon. Thank you.
This is the fourth time we have been to lunch at The Locksbrook and have always very much enjoyed it. However four of us went for lunch on Saturday, first of all we were sat for quite some time before a menu was provided. We ordered our drinks and food and then proceeded to wait, our starter came out, not particularly quickly but before our drinks did. We mentioned it to the waiting staff that we didn't have a drink and were told they would get on to it straight away but it was still a good ten minutes before the drinks appeared by which time we had all finished our starter. We decided to preempt another long wait so ordered drinks before we had finished the first round, just as well we did as it was probably at least another 15-20 minutes before the next drink appeared. I would be reluctant to now recommend to a friend in case they had the same extremely poor service.
Great tucked away location, good atmosphere in the dining room for special occasions, food was good but a bit expensive compared to the competition for what was served. Service was improved on last time, but mainly because of one thoughtful and speedy waiter - they could have done with a little extra help at times. Menu choices for lunch felt like they needed a refresh - but we had a fish dish and meat platter which we both good.
Cold squid, was rectified however poor value for money
The bar area was extremely busy (3pm on a Sunday - yes the tail end of Sunday Lunch which I fully accept) but it took some time to be acknowledged and some time longer to be served with drinks. Bar staff initially appeared to be more interested in texting/messaging and conversing with locals/friends - not a great start!
However, once we were guided to our table in the restaurant area the ambience changed completely... and all for the better. The restaurant was calm and quiet with polite and very attentive staff.
Service was very good with our food arriving within a relatively short time after placing our order.
Lovely staff, quick service and very good food - great for Sunday lunch!
Good food and in brilliant time. Lovely staff, all welcoming and overall fantastic lunch - thanks!
Lovely food. Seemed a little under staffed.
Booked a table for 9 and felt very rushed, felt like we were irritating them, usually have really good service and visit regularly but this was poor in comparison. Previously worked in restaurants and on a Saturday night a booking for 9 is not unusual
Excellent food, excellent service and lovely environment. Would not hesitate in visiting again next time we visit Bath. So refreshing to visit such a first rate establishment which clearly values its customers
Delicious Sunday Roast with all the trimmings in a lovely environment with attentive staff
We have been here to dine on several occasions whenever we are at the Baltic Marina caravan site just up the road. The food is always excellent and plenty of it! ( I hate it when gastro pubs give you small portions!) We went here for lunch on Sunday with several members of the family and everyone commented on how good the food was. You do pay a bit more for a Sunday lunch but it is worth it! Generous portions of meat, at least 4 vegetables, plus roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding- yummy! I would recommend, however you will probably need to book a table at it’s very popular, particularly on a Sunday.
Food was good but service was quite slow, possibly due to a large hen party in another part of the restaurant. We were given a reduction in the bill due to the wait which was appreciated.
Could have been so much better. We sat in the dining room for an evening meal, but a couple of young families were getting drunk not in the dining room, but they were allowing their children to run riot using scooters in the bars and the dining room and most frustratingly they kept on opening the doors in the dining room onto the garden and leaving them open instead of using the side door from the bar and every time the dining room got close to room temperature it was quickly dropping to 12/13 degrees. Fine if you like eating in an overcoat and eating your food as quickly as possible before it gets cold. Recommend for the summer, but unless the dining room doors can be kept shut in the winter I would go elsewhere.
Lovely Sunday lunch with the family & the dogs
We visit this place quite often, love it. And it's dog's friendly!
The only disappointment for our daughter this time was disappearing of her favourite chocolate brownie with ice cream from the menu. She loves it, please, could the brownie come back?
Good food in a nice atmosphere with friendly efficient staff. What more could you ask for from your local pub!
Lively crowd fun place
A lovely evening with friends, fantastic food and great service.
Comfortable, pretty lit dining area, attractive outside seating overlooking the Bath canal. The staff were welcoming & friendly. We did not have to wait long for our starter or main and we were not rushed to pay and go even though it was busy. The food was delicious and fairly priced and the wine good too. Would definitely recommend this pub to others. A pity they don’t have rooms in which you could stay.
We enjoy visiting here especially when the weather is good and sitting out on the terrace. However this particular time we were disappointed by the service. We came in earlier in the day to enquire about Vegan options, the member of bar staff we spoke to said to ask whoever served us on our arrival and when I asked to double check that they did indeed serve Vegan food she said ‘yes’ they did.
But when we arrived and ordered there were no options what so ever for our guest. No effort was given to offer an alternative. it was such a shame for the member of our party to sit there with a portion of chips!
We also had to wait a long time for our food and it came out to us at different times. One meal was eaten before two more arrived half an hour later!
I appreciate it was a hot day and very busy and as I said we usually enjoy this pub but will be very to book for food again in future.
Beautiful décor and setting (surprising considering the surroundings but felt like it was in the middle of the countryside). food very good and staff great. We would come again but would be concerned about the lack of parking.
Good evening meal although had to send one pizza back to be cooked! Service excellent and good atmosphere worth a visit!
We had a great time. The food was delicious with a good choice of dishes for every taste. The weather was beautiful so we could enjoy the garden while sitting inside and benefiting from the great service. A fabulous experience
We walked from the city centre to the Locksbrook Inn for Sunday lunch and we feel like we found a hidden gem.
Everything about this waterside Inn is surprisingly good and even that is eclipsed by a level of service and customer care that is a credit to the whole team at the Locksbrook Inn.
Congratulations to all and thank you for a great lunch!!
Nice atmosphere and good food, but expensive for what it is, and service although polite was very slow. Has been much better in the past - but more expensive than the nearby competition. On the plus side you can usually get a table - Sunday's can be busier than other times.
Very enjoyable Sunday roast, service could have been a bit quicker, but young man attentive.
A great pub !! We have been to the Locksbrook a number of times . Sometimes just for a drink , the food is very good and the pub has a lovely feel to it . Dogs very welcome and it has a great garden.
I really like the locksbrook inn. Me and my partner have been there a few times now. This time was the first for a roast and it did let me down. This was the only place I found in Bath to do chicken on roast. Got there and they ran out. (I only eat chicken) the cabbage was strong and not nice I prefer green cabbage not purple. There were no carrots broccoli or parsnips! Which I have with every roast. And my Yorkshire puddings were burnt to crisp.
The only good thing about that meal was the dessert and that was the sticky toffee pudding. One of the best desserts I have ever had. It was lovely. I would recommend the locksbrook inn only for normal meals not roast. Need to up their game a bit on that one.
Nice setting, food not as nice as last time we went
This is a nice pub to eat in. The restaurant is nice and roomy. The staff were friendly. Starters and main courses were well presented and tasty. Bit of a problem with the desserts. They couldn't provide the cheese board due to a lack of cheese, they had run out of my 1st choice of dessert, they had run out of my 2nd choice of dessert. 3rd choice lucky they had a dessert.
Food was great, but a little disappointed that we had pre booked a table but was still told there was a 40 minute wait for food, they did seem understaffed & the outside bar was closed even thou the sign behind the front bar stated “outside bar open” but it is a lovely pub & I can’t fault the food,we sat out the back by the wall watching the boats go by which is very relaxing, first time we’d been to the locksbrook Inn & won’t be our last & hope the outside bar is open on busy sunny weekends
The food was lacking in taste, not worth the money.
Nice pub to have a drink in all with a bit of food. The decor is very nice and the staff were friendly. A little dissapointed they ran out of dough for pizza but I managed to find something else on the menu that didnthe trick. Very local to us so will be popping back soon.
Beautiful setting. We took a boat trip that stopped here for lunch. The food was good, but not outstanding, and on the pricey side, but the staff were efficient and friendly, and the setting is lovely. I would definitely go back.
Sloppy service at the bar on more than one occasion. Poorly cooked fish.
