The Locksbrook Inn
We pride ourselves on our fresh, locally sourced ingredients, creating some of the best modern British pub dining in Bath
We are open every day for drinks, brunch, coffee, lunch, evening meals and grazing in between
We enjoy visiting here especially when the weather is good and sitting out on the terrace. However this particular time we were disappointed by the service. We came in earlier in the day to enquire about Vegan options, the member of bar staff we spoke to said to ask whoever served us on our arrival and when I asked to double check that they did indeed serve Vegan food she said ‘yes’ they did.
But when we arrived and ordered there were no options what so ever for our guest. No effort was given to offer an alternative. it was such a shame for the member of our party to sit there with a portion of chips!
We also had to wait a long time for our food and it came out to us at different times. One meal was eaten before two more arrived half an hour later!
I appreciate it was a hot day and very busy and as I said we usually enjoy this pub but will be very to book for food again in future.
Beautiful décor and setting (surprising considering the surroundings but felt like it was in the middle of the countryside). food very good and staff great. We would come again but would be concerned about the lack of parking.
Good evening meal although had to send one pizza back to be cooked! Service excellent and good atmosphere worth a visit!
We had a great time. The food was delicious with a good choice of dishes for every taste. The weather was beautiful so we could enjoy the garden while sitting inside and benefiting from the great service. A fabulous experience
We walked from the city centre to the Locksbrook Inn for Sunday lunch and we feel like we found a hidden gem.
Everything about this waterside Inn is surprisingly good and even that is eclipsed by a level of service and customer care that is a credit to the whole team at the Locksbrook Inn.
Congratulations to all and thank you for a great lunch!!
Nice atmosphere and good food, but expensive for what it is, and service although polite was very slow. Has been much better in the past - but more expensive than the nearby competition. On the plus side you can usually get a table - Sunday's can be busier than other times.
Very enjoyable Sunday roast, service could have been a bit quicker, but young man attentive.
A great pub !! We have been to the Locksbrook a number of times . Sometimes just for a drink , the food is very good and the pub has a lovely feel to it . Dogs very welcome and it has a great garden.
I really like the locksbrook inn. Me and my partner have been there a few times now. This time was the first for a roast and it did let me down. This was the only place I found in Bath to do chicken on roast. Got there and they ran out. (I only eat chicken) the cabbage was strong and not nice I prefer green cabbage not purple. There were no carrots broccoli or parsnips! Which I have with every roast. And my Yorkshire puddings were burnt to crisp.
The only good thing about that meal was the dessert and that was the sticky toffee pudding. One of the best desserts I have ever had. It was lovely. I would recommend the locksbrook inn only for normal meals not roast. Need to up their game a bit on that one.
Nice setting, food not as nice as last time we went
This is a nice pub to eat in. The restaurant is nice and roomy. The staff were friendly. Starters and main courses were well presented and tasty. Bit of a problem with the desserts. They couldn't provide the cheese board due to a lack of cheese, they had run out of my 1st choice of dessert, they had run out of my 2nd choice of dessert. 3rd choice lucky they had a dessert.
Food was great, but a little disappointed that we had pre booked a table but was still told there was a 40 minute wait for food, they did seem understaffed & the outside bar was closed even thou the sign behind the front bar stated “outside bar open” but it is a lovely pub & I can’t fault the food,we sat out the back by the wall watching the boats go by which is very relaxing, first time we’d been to the locksbrook Inn & won’t be our last & hope the outside bar is open on busy sunny weekends
The food was lacking in taste, not worth the money.
Nice pub to have a drink in all with a bit of food. The decor is very nice and the staff were friendly. A little dissapointed they ran out of dough for pizza but I managed to find something else on the menu that didnthe trick. Very local to us so will be popping back soon.
Beautiful setting. We took a boat trip that stopped here for lunch. The food was good, but not outstanding, and on the pricey side, but the staff were efficient and friendly, and the setting is lovely. I would definitely go back.
Sloppy service at the bar on more than one occasion. Poorly cooked fish.
Service was slow, menu very standard. I was expecting a lot better
Went to this pub for the first time with friends. The food we ordered hot roast beef sandwich with relish was cold there was more fat on the beef than actual meat chips all bits, can’t say anything good about it, over priced, worst meal we have had in a long time. Very poor.
Service was awful, was left for 30 mins after eating with no sign of asking for bill. We had to go up and pay... waitress seen in toilet just standing on mobile phone.
Nice pub near the canal with good quality food and outside cocktail garden, perhaps a bit too expensive but the food was good.
The toughest steak I have eaten. £68 for 4 meals including a child’s menu and 1 round of drinks (all soft). No table service outside. Excruciating long wait for service.
not nearly enough staff working! You knew this was going to be the hottest day of the year and you would be busy but the poor bar staff were completely overwhelmed. Ordering time took ages - it wasn't their fault and they were friendly and polite.
The outside bar had one person! Piles of dirty glasses with no one to gather and wash them.
This is not a staff problem but a management problem.
Service was slow and we had to call people Over to take our order. ‘Bits’ came with the mains instead of as a starter. Had to ask for the bill several times but the waiter was nice and food good, perhaps just a little pricey for what it was. Very noisy at times.
This restaurant needs to decide whether it's a family pub, with prices to reflect this, or a fine dining restaurant.
I found some of the staff helpful, especially one young man, who almost redeemed the whole poor experience of dining at this restaurant. Others were most unhelpful. The food was poor and very expensive for pub grub. The burger arrived with cheese, when I expressly asked for it to be plain and even stressed just the burger and bun. The replacement was about 25 minutes coming. The helpful waiter was very apologetic and refunded the cost of the burger, which was very unexpected. He should get a job in a better establishment!
Have been many times before and will be back - it's our local! Good food in sensible portions. Just one quibble: the roast potatoes were clearly finished in the deep fryer, why??!
Took my dad for Father's day. It was a lovely time had by all. We had the pork, can I suggest a marinade might be nice, on the pork, it might help keep it moist! As slightly dry, but myittle boy loved the kids meal and my mother had chichen she said she recommends it!
Very pricey not much choice on the menu would not recommend as I did not feel it was good value for money and what food we did have was not that exceptional. I do not mind paying for good food but this meal was very average.
The food was lovely, the staff were friendly and attentive, the environment relaxing. Will visit again.
Thank you for a fantastic evening! The food was great!
Good place for a business meeting and I have visited here before whilst cycling from Bristol to Bath along the canal and sat outside for a beer and food which was lovely.
My food yesterday was OK and great trouble was taken to cater for the eating requirements of my colleagues.
I had the mushroom risotto which was dry
Food very good although vegetables were cold the fish was excellent and the waiter attentive. Only minus was the barman on arrival who wasnt particularly welcoming or friendly, such a key point with initial impressions.
Order took ages to arrive - a few tables arrived after us and got served before us
Had run out of BBQ sauce for burger but didn't advise us until asked
Chorizo in the chicken salad was not chorizo was actually a sausage and not very nice (and dressing looked squirted on, was too much of it too, took over the taste). Not convinced that the menu said the salad was purely rocket either...
The special had run out of mash and was a ragu instead, quite different
Menu was not that extensive - didn't feel that there was much choice
Police in restaurant when we got there ...
Lovely decor and outdoor area looked very nice
This is our local and it filled a big gap in the local market. It is great in many respects for its excellent canalside garden and its all day menu and flexibility about just drinking or eating and drinking. I would recommend it with a bit of caution - the service is usually terrible. It always has been. Really slow. Food comes before drinks when you sit in the restaurant. They don't have enough staff there at busy times. Staff always seem stressed. Most of these busy times are when they know that it is going to be busy -e.g. weather forecast predicts a really sunny warm bank holiday Monday. But even when it's quiet the service is often pretty bad. I think the owners concentrate on their other pubs and don't seem to visit there, have little to do with it. So standards are often anything but high. Recently when we asked for clean as opposed to dirty wine glasses, they did swap them reluctantly but for more dirty ones. When asking again for a clean one the barman said 'You order house wine and you expect a clean glass?
A great Sunday roast, lovely wine and good service!
Food was great but there was a mix-up with our order and half of the people had already finished eating by the time the other people's food arrived.
The pub has a lovely beer garden for sunny days by the river and I would recommend a visit for a drink but may not eat there again.
The food was incredible. We did want to eat outside but due to a technical error we couldn't. The staff were not the politest in communicating this when I asked for clarification of why we couldn't sit outside.
Great food, great staff, would recommend highly, well done guys
Food was good. There needs to be a bit more of a variety of choice on lunch menus.
I needed to postpone the booking for half an hour which was no problem. So we booked for 7pm. There was only 1 beef left and they very kindly split that with roast chicken between us. However the food was lukewarm and we didn't get a lot! When we paid the bill it was lucky for us that we checked it. We were charged for 2 bottles of wine. I wouldn't say we won't go back but there are many other restaurants in Bath that we would choose to go to first.
A really lovely riverside pub with fantastic atmosphere and really good food.
