We were staying onsite at Retallack Resort and dined at The Lookout Restaurant on our first evening. We had booked the table well in advance but there was no problem with our reservation on arrival. A table had been reserved for us by the window overlooking the flowrider, which was fun to watch. The food was nice, reasonably priced and well presented. The only downside was that the menu was quite small and it would be nice if there had been a little more choice. The staff were very attentive. The reason for our visit was that we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and to our surprise at the end of our meal the waitress told us that the chef was aware it was our anniversary and would like to prepare us a special complimentary dessert. We were treated to a selection of mini desserts to share and a glass of prosecco each. This was a lovely sentiment and made our experience extra special. We would love to visit again.
booked for our anniversary so was looking for a quality time. the food was faultless and we managed all 3 courses as there were long gaps between them which helped. the décor is more cafeteria than restaurant and the view from our window table was less than attractive overlooking the water boarding ride with half its panels missing. the restaurant itself is part of a hotel/spa so there was a relaxed dress code. despite all this though we would go back just for the food.
We ate here on Friday 2 Feb (four of us) it was exceptional we had Sunday lunch (fourteen of us) on the 4th Feb and again it was exceptional however we were very disappointed with afternoon tea on the Saturday.
Booked for a special occasion meal. Although it was winter so very quiet the staff were really friendly and it still felt a nice atmosphere. Food was excellent.. steaks cooked to perfection. Husband had a dessert which was super - ginger and apple with shedloads of clotted cream. Very good all round.
Lovely food, brilliant service. Would come back again.
Had the steak deal and they were cooked to perfection, we eat here every time we stay at retallack x
Great choice and both our meals were absolutely delicious, good portions, wonderful flavours. My only small moan was the food took a long time to come, but as the atmosphere was good and relaxing this really wasn't a problem. Staff very friendly and polite
Our food was cold And inedible, didn’t arrive at the same time for everyone and no refund offered
Service was top notch and food was amazing, best I have had from a restaurant in a long time.
Lovely meal...very accommodating with special dietary needs...friendly helpful staff. Would happily recommend.
Excellent food, all freshly cooked & tasty. Staff very good, efficient & friendly.
Since the change from 'The Green Room' to 'The Lookout' the restaurant is nowhere near as good. Service was poor, soup was cold and ordering a side salad without rocket meant we got a side salad with rocket in it. The restaurant needs to listen to their customers. Previously stayed at Retallack twice and had fantastic meals at the Green Room. The only thing it has kept since the change of name is the high prices. Not worth it.
If you are staying at the resort or using the facilities then the Lookout Restaurant (as it is now called) is a great place to eat.
However it is not cheap, the food is good and I can't say I was unhappy with any of the meals I had there, but I can't help but feel that the prices are somewhat reflective of the fact and there is no local competition and that you are a captive audience.
I would certainly recommend going there for a couple of meals during a stay at the resort but the costs would prevent most people from having every meal there.
Dinner was lovely presented. Service was pleasant and polite but slow
As a family we have visited the green room when we have used the flow rider on several occasions and throughly enjoyed our experience. When we visited this time for a birthday meal two of the party ordered steak which had so much fat and gristle in we couldn't eat it and returned it to the kitchen. Very disappointing probably won't eat there again.
Main courses were nice. Service poor - took 25 minutes before we could order drinks even - having obtained menus ourselves. However once food was ordered it did arrive in good time. Some item prices a bit high (in relation to actual ingredients).
Like other reviews we waited and waited for everything. Food tasted nice but prices were a little high for what you actually got. No one was very interested in serving. Many drinks on menu were not available or not chilled.
In desperate need of a manager and supervisors. Waited to be greeted. Waited to be seated. Waited for the drinks order to be taken. Waited for everything..... dont bother.
The food was good as was the service. The menu a little limited though.
Very pricey food, £4.00 for a side of chips ridiculous!! Gin was £2.50 then the tonic was £2.95. You can buy for bottles for that in a supermarket! Not going to pay that kind of price for food & drink again
Food was good but pity about the waiting staff who were pretty inattentive and when asked questions didn't seem that bothered about the response they were giving, which is a shame because this is not the first time reviewers have said this about this restaurant. Why hasn't this improved?
The service was very poor as didn't get seen to until we craved for their attention. The food was small portions for the price which was asked and didn't live up to our expectations as well as not tasting very nice. Wouldn't come back to the green room for a meal as it was very expensive.
Another point would be that whilst we were dining, they were several other complaints regarding other diners.
When we arrived we were told your table is over there. When the waitress brought the menu she never asked if we would like some drinks. When I asked fire some the response was puff ok. Then when the food arrived it was ok but my wife asked if the crab was fresh oh yes was the reply well it smelled like at least 3,4 days old . No one came and asked if everything was ok with the food so 30 minutes and £40 later we left . So very disappointed... chips on the way home.
Friendly staff and great tasting food and well sized portions.
We wanted something half way between Tintagel and Camborne so The Green Room came up as a suggestion.
We were, however, delighted with the choice - both the food and the staff were excellent.
Our meal was absolutely delicious in fact I would say I haven't eaten something so nice in a very long time (Moroccan lamb) my partner who's birthday we were celebrating had a steak and praised it to the max. I would say food was very expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. The place it self, I was expecting it to be slightly more grand especially as the prices charged for food. Never the less we had a nice evening manager brought out a birthday cake for us which was a nice touch. My partner works In a restaurant himself and commented on the uniform which was slightly slack for waiteesss and waiters it seemed and there knowledge wasn't great especially on drinks which one of the waiteesss openly admitted to him. All in all we would visit again service was good nothing overall stood out to me though but the main thing was the food was gorgeous but at the price I paid I would expect it to be
Great lunch. Sorry my son knocked the lovely waiter who spilled the drinks.
Good for families with children, too noisy and brash for couples.
Really impressed with the green room, lovely food and surroundings. Would definitely recommend and will be going back soon
Another lovely meal at the Green Room prior to leaving . Great food, great staff, great place!
Lovely meal with family. Log burner and atmosphere lovely. Staff super friendly and food all delicious.
Staff were super friendly and cheerful. Food was absolutely excellent.. well presented, good choice and local produce- an all round excellent seasonal menu. Good value for money and a brilliant playlist in the background!
Found it to be family friendly but disappointing welcome and very smokey wood burner. We were a mostly vegetarian group and choice very limited and expensive considering meat not being consumed and options not that creative. Some friendly staff with a positive attitude which made up for the smokey atmosphere!
It was very nice, just annoyed that the menu prices were shown without VAT this is the only restaurant I have been to that has done this .
This added a further £9.00 onto the bill.
Great food in a clean and functional environment. The restaurant tends to be used as a corridor for this heading to the bar or picking up takeaways which spoils the restaurant ambiance. Service was good other than one of our party of 5 waited a further 5 minutes for their food as the pizza was delayed, presumably because of a takeaway order. Otherwise a great night.
The food was excellent, the service was a bit off-hand/disinterested.
Service outstanding and the staff were lovely. Great range of menu options to suit all tastes and food was very good. As a couple would recommend eating later as caters for families
Outstanding food, bit too noisy for a date night but great for families who want food with a bit more finesse.
Food did not come out at the same time. Rocket pizza had meat on it. Wine VERY over priced
Simple food which is well priced and served in a relaxed environment.
