Great decor, food was faultless and wait staff were efficient and very friendly. My mother loved it which was the point, so it was a winner!
Fabulous experience would highly recommend staff very helpful and attentive the bonus of the piano player was wonderful will definitely return.
The Afternoon Tea is a bit expensive, but it's worth every cent. The Mayor Lounge is classy and the piano music absolutely lovely, the staff's service is outstanding, and the food delicious (you won't leave hungry, that's for sure). Every time I bring there friends or relatives who visit me here in Dublin, the Afternoon Tea at the Shelbourne is the perfect place to finish a holiday. Highly recommended, you won't regret it and sipping great tea or a cup of coffee watching the park outside the windows will let you feel as if you're an elegant lady or gentleman straight from 1800.
Had a lovely afternoon tea experience with my mum . Or server vanina was very friendly and accommodating and took lovely photos for us. Will definitely return!
In general - beautiful place. Food was so so. Too flate tast, desserts did not look impressive for the price we paid. Service just horrible. Our teapots were placed on the windowsill, near neighbour table. Most of the time I was seating with empty cup and were waiting for a waiter to add new tea. (What was the issue to place teapots on our table? It was enough room for this. People at the neighbour table had 2 coffee pots at their table.) Extra sandviches were offered only once. Scones were also avarage, perhaps they were baked yesterday.
I had an afternoon tea experice in several places in London. One of them - Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London. In Mandarine, they undestand how to treat customers (I did not have an issue to seat with an empty cup for 20 minutes, waitors always kindly offer us new sandviches, deserts, scones).
€ 62 per person for avarage food, poor service - a way too much. The manager of Lord Mayor's Lounge should better visit afternoon tea at Mandarin Oriental in London to see how looks like a good service.
(Afternoon tea was 31 of December at 16:30)
Extremely luxurious and well worth the money spent the atmosphere and ambiance was delightful
Christmas afternoon tea at the Shelbourne is both elegant and relaxing....also surprisingly filling! The festive teas are comforting and the Irish whiskey tea is a fav to finish, throughly enjoy our traditional family visit
High tea at a very special place. It was more than enough but perfectly served. Nice waiter, it was really wonderful to experience this !
I went to the festive afternoon tea with my family and it was lovely.
great food and atmosphere and there was a live pianist
service was fantastic and there were many teas on offer to try
I brought my grandmother and godmother for afternooon tea as a special treat, and it did not disappoint. We all had an amazing time. The staff were so lovely and the food was amazing. Thank you to everyone at the Shelbourne for creating a special memory for me and my grandmother and godmother.
Excellent customer service from entering, very helpful with my husband who is 85 years old and has dementia, staff made our afternoon a very special experience. Selection of food was excellent and what we could not finish was boxed for us to take home. Setting was amazing so relaxing with an an excellent pianist entertaining us. Beautiful experience to start festive season. Would highly recommend
Fantastic! What a treat. Gorgeous food, lovely selection of teas, and great service.
As a coeliac, afternoon tea at the Shelbourne is such a treat! The whole thing can be made gluten free and its almost the exact same as the normal version.
Afternoon tea is elegant and despite the food looking petite it is surprisingly filling! Don’t ask for seconds on the savoury! You won’t be able to eat any of the petite deserts!
Shelbourne a national treasure, wonderful evening excellent quality afternoon tea
Perfect Christmas experience! A lovely retreat from the craziness of Christmas shopping
A lovely way to spend an afternoon. Lovely food, staff and atmosphere.
Excellent service, brilliant staff
A magical experience, we would highly recommend it. Going to make it an annual Christmas event.
All ways great place to go too afternoon Tea was superb ,I can highly recommend Aftenoon Tea ,go and treat yourself
I had been looking forward to this experience for some time but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations and I was left disappointed.
There was an additional cost as it was the Festive season, but the food did not have any Festive flavors, with the exception of a Turkey and stuffing paste roll which I did not like.
The smoked salmon was tasteless and stringy.
We had previously advised the hotel that we would not eat Egg sandwiches and were not offered any alternatives , but rather more of the same of what was on offer.
Everything was served together including the scones which were cold by the time we got around to eating them. In my experience scones would normally come from the oven to the table.
A very good selection of teas were on offer.
Too many heavy chocolate deserts.
I have had many afternoon tea experiences and I am sad to say that the Shelbourne would not be on my favorite list.
Afternoon tea was a present and Worth every penny. Definitely recommend to anyone as a special treat
A lovely afternoon with lovely food and marvellous staff
Great venue. Super buzz and ambience. Issues with the online booking system meant our table wasn’t on the list despite the hotel calling to confirm with me the previous day and c10 automatically generates email confirmations! Very odd and not a good start. Thankfully they found a table and my friends hadn’t arrived for this part so it didn’t spoil the experience.
Service was patchy. Our server told us she was so hungry that she went for her break (halfway through our sitting) and the other servers seemed begrudging to cover our table, it was a challenge calling them over. Food was good, though if you don’t like chocolate desserts (I don’t) you’re in trouble - mostly dark chocolate cakes. Visually, they look great though. Sandwiches and scones were excellent and there is a great selection of teas and you can have as many as you like. Champagne lovely.
So, overall a mixed bag. I wouldn’t rush back as have had a lot better elsewhere, but would recommend it for the setting and experience.
Absolutely amazing experience at the Shelbourne. The service and food was of the highest quality. The building and interior decor is beautiful and staff are so knowledgable and friendly. The afternoon teas was delicious and my coeliac was catered for with gluten free afternoon tea that was as good as any afternoon tea I have had. It has a lovely atmosphere and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A very special day and treat.
Such a fabulous experience - Service was great, food was divine, atmosphere was sumptuous and iconic. Personally we'd have preferred a little more of the savoury and a little less of the sweet but it was all wonderfully delicious. Will definitely be back again for the luxury and fun of it.
Brought my mam for a birthday treat. We had Morgane as our hostess and she was excellent. We were never waiting for service as she was so pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere and food was lovely. We will definitely be back :)
Only thing I would critise is that the server told us the price of the tea when detailing the menu I was bringing my sister out for a gift and would have preferred her not to know the price . When I booked I checked the price so there should be no reason to mention it . I get that you detail the price of the champagne but not the actual tea
I'm very disappointed with the customer's policy. I got a voucher afternoon tea for 2 with champagne. It was valid for 12 months. I called the hotel to book the day and mentioned that it was a voucher. nobody said any restrictions or supplements. when I got there the manager said the price increases for the Christmas, so to have the champagne we should pay more. it is ridiculous because the voucher was for a tea afternoon with champagne no a value voucher. I complained saying that it wasn't any mention about that on the rules and the manager found in the very small letters at the end something about public holidays or special events, something totally generic that I never could imagine that was including the month of December. it was a special evening to celebrate and I was frustrated with the situation. this doesn't match with a fancy hotel. at least, the waiter was amazing and the food was really good.
A brilliant afternoon from the surroundings to the staff to the pianist and not forgetting the fabulous food I would totally recommend afternoon tea at the Shelbourne it’s a very special experience and sense of being made feel welcome and being treated so well. Thank you to everyone who made it a rememberable afternoon and definitely one to put in my diary to do again.
Really lovely experience. Everyone was really nice and the food was lovely. Thanks for the birthday platter too. Highly recommend afternoon tea here.
Always the best! Amazing ambiance and such great tasting desserts. Can’t go wrong and well worth the splurge.
Lovely experience lovely food , bit on the expensive side
Our server was impeccable, I think her name was Chiara? She was a lovely young lady very good at her job!
I am visiting Ireland as a Birthday gift from my son.
My son in law, who lives in Newport, RI, USA is from Dublin.
I met his mother for Champagne Afternoon Tea.
The “Moms” had a lovey time together over an elegant tea.
Amazing experience excellent customer service
Just perfect (but sometimes a bit loud when you’re sitting next to the entrance)!
Excellent service, a beautiful room and great food.
My daughter and myself had a lovely afternoon There was a really nice Christmas atmosphere. The food was very well presented and plenty of choices.
However l was very disappointed that the hotel tried to charge me the higher rate for the afternoon tea despite the fact l told them when they phoned the day before when l made the booking it was advertised at the standard rate and that’s what I would be paying. I had to remind them again at the till. They said it was a mistake on the web page but l was very disappointed that they expected me to take the hit for their mistake .
Kick off your Christmas season with a visit to Lord Mayor's Lounge! A bit on the pricy side, but with unlimited coffee and tea and a delightful selection of Christmas-themed cupcakes and pastries you'll get what you pay for.
