The Lytton Arms
With stunning views across the countryside from the front and rear of the pub, you are in for a treat following the pubs stunning restoration.
Our fresh food menu is traditional pub fare with modern twists as well as an exciting daily chaining specials menu prepared by our head chef, Zee.
Our Mushroom & Cauliflower Biryani is fast gaining legendary status, as well as tried and tested classics such as beer-battered cod with hand cut chips.
The conservatory to the rear of the pub is a stunning setting and the garden is arguably the best in the area.
Lovely veggie roast, makes a nice change from an ordinary nutroast
Have been to the Lytton Arms many times. It is always good. Went on Sunday and had a Sunday roast. Perfect, apart from not enough vegetables. What's the issue with the cost of vegetables? Would have scored it five if it wasn't for this.
It is a lovely place to spend and evening with friends or family.
Lovely food and great space and ambience but very confusing service. We had booked a table which was great for confidence of meeting friends. Waiter asked for drinks order at table but then no further service, other tables around us were asked for orders by waiters but not us. Sign on wall said order food at bar, so we did. Ended up feeling very disjointed and confusing and would rather have clarity on approach - rather than feeling forgotten about
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review, we apologise for the lack of clarity with regards to ordering, and will pass your feedback onto the team to ensure the quality of service provided is clear and consistent with every customer. We hope we can welcome you back again soon.
I would recommend as it’s a lovely pub in a lovely area and the food is generally good. However, booked through ‘open table’ on a Sunday for 17:45, our friends hadn’t arrived and we were asked to order as the kitchen was going to close. Obviously very disappointed and went elsewhere.
Lovely food, good company and overall a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon :-)
Light and pleasant surroundings, friendly staff, better than average pub grub. Went on a Friday evening which was music night which we didn't know about as we wanted to speak with friends but there are other rooms and tables outside. Would go again.
Very impressed. Good choice of food friendly service and pleasant surroundings. Dogs allowed in all areas
The new Lytton just gets better and better. Really superb Father's Day lunch. We had lamb, beef and an amazing turbot among our choices and all were of really top quality. Great service too, in a lovely conservatory with great country views. We love the Lytton!
Friendly and efficient service. The food was a bit slow to arrive but it was the busiest time, we weren't in a hurry and it was worth the wait. Their hand-cut chips are the best (we walked 2 miles just for those), the burger was very good, the salad a bit dull but perfectly acceptable. The range of beers is excellent and the lager/pale cross, Abbeydale's Heretic No. 3, was very good. We moved from the noisy conservatory to sit in the quieter window of the pub, watching the rabbits and deer in the parkland opposite as the sun set - bliss!
Great choice of beers. Food was good, but one starter had to be returned (limp lettuce - 1st world problems I know).
We were in the conservatory - so sharing with families. It's a dog-friendly pub, so there were dogs in that area of the pub as well. This meant it was very noisy. But we knew that when booking, so not complaining.
The conservatory adjoins the outside garden area. this meant cigarette smoke from outside was drifting into the conservatory and was unpleasant at times. Maybe the outside smoking area needs to be relocated further away from the conservatory entrance.
Very nice meal & service in nice surroundings
Staff attentative. The round metal table nit particularly comfortable tho7gh
Lovely food and great choice of beers and cider. Booked again ! 😊
great tasting food, friendly staff, lovely location, just a little expensive.
We had lunch with old friends. Service and food were very good. Lovely calm, laid back atmosphere. Might need a few fans in the conservatory if we get Summer! We were rather warm but not a real problem. The food was very good with quality ingredients especially the sausages. Our waitress was very obliging nothing was a problem for her. We find this is almost always the case in hospitality with staff from Europe. They are happy and proud to serve as is the case in the far east. So glad you picked up this business and have made a success of it like all your other ventures.
I must admit our lunch was made by having great company! Good food attentive waiting staff, what wasnt to like!
Good meal at the Lytton Arms. Fish and chips were excellent. Waited a very long time for the food, especially as the restaurant was empty.
Everything was good but not excellent. Had to keep looking for staff to get a drink, order and pay for food.
We popped in on good Friday. Although quite busy we were served quickly. A great selection of beers, ales and cider's. A good menu reasonably priced. We had sandwiches which were lovely and the most amazing scotch egg. I will be coming back 👍
Best roast dinner I have had in a pub/restaurant for many a year.
Lovely food- very high standard. Good Service but not much atmosphere. Surrounded by empty tables which was very annoying as we had asked earlier in the week whether we could add an unexpected guest to our booking.
It was great. We went for an early Mother’s Day lunch so we ranged in age from 4 to 78 but there really was something for everyone. Menu was great and so was the service. Highly recommend - the garden will be great in the summer. All that it needs now is a bit for kids to play and we’d stay even longer!
I am gluten free vegetarian and whilst there isn’t an option on the menu I’ve spoken to the waiting staff and the chef has prepared me a meal. This has happened each time I’ve eaten at the Lytton Arms.
Staff are very friendly and efficient, toilets are clean which is important to me.
Great for families too.
We enjoyed a fantastic Sunday lunch, which had used fresh ingredients, in the pub's conservatory. Not only was the food excellent we were able to look out over the rolling countryside while eating and received great service from the team.
We had our Sunday lunch here with the family. The service was great and the atmosphere very relaxed- the children were made to feel very welcome!
Delicious meal and lovely friendly service. Good to see things seem sorted after a rather hectic and chaotic reopening last year. Shall be back for sure.
Was a nice meal but they have a limited menu and the furnishings are very uncomfortable. It may be my personal preference but I hate sitting at patio furniture when in a restaurant. Great atmosphere in the pub but less so in the small restaurant.
Lovely Sunday lunch - roasts and trimmings very near perfect...with fabulous (non gloopy) gravy. Only issue was first table assigned was near doorway between pub and conservatory...not a good spot...especially when that coffee machine starts up...so noisy and busy....but no trouble being reseated. Also, the piped music was right in in our ear in (our new!) seat near window....was pretty annoying....but food and service great!
A family birthday treat for our son-in-law and daughter. Great food, lovely dining area in the large conservatory and a dream for a lover of ales !! Excellent service too and we left very happy and will return with a smile :)
Food is outstanding value.
The meal that we had was fantastic, the service was great, nice ambience for a winter's evening. The pub was not busy at all.
fantastic Sunday lunch, great food, great service lovely atmosphere.
Had sunday lunch and the food was excellent, especially the roast potatoes. Will be returning soon.
I’m gluten free and vegetarian the chef made me a gf pasta dish. Nothing was too much trouble.
Bathrooms were very clean.
Any noise could have come from us as we had 3 babies with us.
The only issue was gaining access with a double width pushchair.
Overall a very pleasant experience
To say it’s the best Sunday lunch around doesn’t really do it justice for how much better it is than the rest.
I urge you to try it out for yourselves
Delicious Sunday roast, both pork and beef were really good, we were allowed to order a child’s size portion for my friend as she wasn’t very hungry, overall a very enjoyable meal, our table was right by the door so it was a bit cold, but that was the only negative
We really enjoyed our meal and thought the staff were excellent. Nina was fabulous.
Nice pub great selection of beers, we were seated in the rear conservatory which was fine until a group of 18 people decended on the room from the bar so not actually eating but very noisy, food was slow to arrive 45 minutes, but when it arrived was very good, waitress did apologize for delays.
Really good evening at the Lytton. Really good food, service fast, friendly staff and a really great singer (Toni Lee) providing the entertainment. Fab way to start Christmas.
Excellent service and surroundings top quality food reasonably priced
