The Madison Bar and Grill is a great place for families, professionals, romantic dinners or anyone who likes to unwind and enjoy great food, drinks and service in a sophisticated, comfortable eatery.
The Madison is usually great, really good food and service. We had made a reservation for Valentine’s Day because we had gone there last year and had a great time. Unfortunately this year the menu was prix fixe and we weren’t able to order off of the regular menu, and we weren’t made aware of this when making the reservation. There were no veggie options for the main course for my wife and the limited choice just weren’t anything we were interested in so we ended up deciding the leave. As I said, the food here is usually great and we plan to return,
Nice Valentine's dinner. Price Fixe menu. Good service, nice drinks. Food was good but not exceptional.
Sat us in the bar area where it was too loud to have a conversation. The food was way too expensive given the quality. Poor experience all around.
Terrible food. Will not go back again.
Went to MBG for a 3 generation family dinner. Server was friendly but the service was a disaster. Entrees forgotten or confused ...table too small for our party. Food mediocre at best. The service was so bad they unsolicited removed 3 entrees from our bill. Disappointing and won’t return...too many other great options in the Hobo area to choose from.
Always a good night out here.
We went on a Monday and there’s a pretty cool pre fixe menu with a great price. Overall, solid experience and worth stopping by for dinner with a friend or date.
NIce atmosphere with the sports bar separate from the dining room. Service was good, not great and the food was good, not great. I'd go there again.
Very bad service. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone even came to the table to greet us & order coffee or drinks. We went for the buffet brunch which is shown on open table only to find out that there is no more brunch buffet for over a year now. We would not havechosen this place for brunch if we had known. We had to ask for bread because there was none being offered or placed on the table. No butter came with the toasted bread which was for my 2 year old granddaughter. Very poor service & the food was regular, nothing spectacular. Very disappointed especially because it was my son-in-law’s birthday. Will not go back
Horrible experience for NYE. We sat down at the 9pm pre fix dinner and I was specifically told we could stay there until the ball drops. At 11pm, we were told table service stopped. So instead of just sitting there for an hour, or paying an additional $100 to go the bar after spending $550 on a dinner of 4, we took our business elsewhere. Madison lost our business because we would’ve at least spent another 2 hours at the table drinking; disappointing after I called specifically and was told we could stay at the table all night.

I love Madison's! Our server, Evie, and the Manager, Anthony, were extremely nice to us. Especially Anthony, he went above and beyond and accommodated our party. We also were excited about the M-F dinner special served 5p-7p which is during their first seating, it's a 3 course meal for $20. You can't get better than that! They also have wine specials that are $18! A whole bottle for $18! I would definitely go back to Madison's. The food was great, the service was great, and the decor was very pretty for the holidays. I would just note it can get pretty loud there.
Foods always decent
The service is lacking. But other than that enjoyed the food!
Ask to be seated with Joe - you won't get better service from anyone else!
Great food with great service.
Food is very good - service is attentive but slow.
We have been going to Madison’s for years! The food is always delicious and the service is always great!
Great service, beautiful patio, and good food. This is a great place to come for a variety of food because there is something for everyone! Only downside is the inside smells like a frat basement, but sitting outside solves that problem
Order was incorrect and they charged $5 for a side salaa
I always look forward to their brunch on Sundays. Best brunch in the tri-state area. Their buffet spread is second to none. I highly recommend it.
Always delicious. Your dinner special was amazing.
Very disappointed. Drinks were completely watered down. Food quality has dropped dramatically from prior visits. Severely understaffed. Waiter did the best he could, but had to cover far too many tables to provide any level of quality service and attention to the diners.
This was a fabulous restaurant. Great service and the burgers are amazing!
Strictly do drinks, apps, and a burger here. I wouldn’t even reco all apps just your typical bar app. Everything else is luke warm and tasteless. Also make sure your waiters are fast moving and can handle a small crowd or put more than on person on at a time. I’m not the person to get and ask my waiter for something or my check, but we were barely attended to and had to ask the bus boy for things.
Waitress forgot to put a dinner order for 1 guest. The manager (know where to be seen) finally came out and was less than apologetic and offered no remorse, just a direct answer that they will take it off the hill (after they had put it on)! A lot better places in hoboken to try
Service and food were very good!
Great buffet spread for Sunday brunch! From scrambled eggs, to burritos, frittatas, pizza, shrimp cocktail, oysters, salmon, bagels and lox, different salads, and the list goes on and on. My favorite dish were the creams brûlée’ French toast!!!! A MUST!!!! You get one mimosa included with the buffet and unlimited coffee. The only downside is the noise level. The music is way way too loud but the food is delicious, the service was great, and there are TVs all around where you can catch games and/or highlights from previous sporting events.
The food exceeded expectations and the servers were so friendly! I loved the options the restaurant provides as well- front bar for a more casual evening or the back restaurant for a slightly more intimate night.
Food was good, service was terrible , server never came back to the table after good was brought by someone else,
Had to chase someone to get check, never offered desert or coffee. Noise level in restaurant prevents conversation , very noisy place even though we were in back room not near the bar
Unfortunately Madison has dropped in food quality and service over the years. Used to be a much place
Hostess was not very nice or helpful.
YUM! We had dinner at The Madison after weeks of drooling over their menu and lusting over previous reviews. Everything was delicious (especially the lobster mac & cheese!) We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Only complaint would have been we could have used a few extra minutes between courses being served, but that is a good problem to have, i suppose. Service was wonderful as well.
I am a big fan of Madison Bar and Grill and go there quite often with friends. I was disappointed in the noise level at the bar tables for a 6:15pm dinner reservation. It was a little too loud, too early to be able to properly enjoy a meal and conversation with friends.
Had a very very small table for 2 against the wall adjacent to the bar room. It felt like a grade school seat up against the blackboard. Decor was lacking and faded and not the 1940s nostalgia as advertised. Food liked flair although the chocolate waffle dessert was a winner. Noise levels could break any decibel meter.
We went on a Tuesday night this week and there were only two other tables occupied. Our waitress was nice but very slow. Our appetizers took 45 min. to come out and our dinners were very slow to come out as well. I think they only had one waitress for the whole restaurant which wasn't busy but still understaffed. We like this restaurant but this wasn't a good night. Food is pretty good though.
The wait staff wasn't consistent and they seem to rush you out of the dining room quickly
Always a good meal!
Love the salads and crab meat cocktail
Simple warm, cozy local feeling. The raw bar was excellent. The drinks were very well made and we all had a different burger. I highly reccomend it if your in Hoboken.
