Tried this place for the first time this week after reading good reviews of the food. I was slightly hesitant as some reviews had said the service wasn't good.
My friend & I had booked a table for 12 o'clock but arrived a few minutes early. Door was locked so we had to stand outside until waitress opened the door. She did not acknowledge us & when we entered we were kept waiting a few minutes to be seated. We were the only customers but service was quite slow. We were told the menu was very limited due to the oven being broken. 2 members of staff appeared to be on duty but they were sat at a table most of the time chatting with some friends. The waitress was very pleasant & the food was ok. The decor was very nice but the restaurant was cold.
Maybe try it one more time because I feel the restaurant could be good if they sort out their staffing issues.
Lovely staff and good variety on menu.
Food very good. But the restaurant could do with a refurb, a bit scruffy
The food was good, but the service was terrible took us 45 minute's to get our starters and another hour before we got our main course.
The ambience and surroundings are wonderful but service and quality of food still not the best, which is such a shame as we like to visit a local restaurant. We were greeted by smiley faces and our order taken in time. However the mushroom brie and cranberry wellington with dressed salad turned out to be mushroom and brie pie with cranberry on the side and the dressed salad was wet shredded iceberg, no other salad ingredients or dressing in sight. I was advised that my choice of wine was not available, which was fine, but the waitress disappeared and after quite a while we had to enquire if we were actually getting any drinks. We were served by 5 different people and I think that this is where the problem lies... there is no continuity to the service. However... it was not awful and we will persevere and try again.
Good hot food with not too long to wait before being served. Excellent quality and good price with desserts at a reasonable price to. Good value for money but need to be aware of noise level of music.
Excellent service can’t fault it and food lovely A+
First time in a long time but was so worth it will be back very soon
The food was excellent service was very very good enjoyable back ground music. Will definitely book again.
Very welcoming, really good menu, delicious food and value for money
Food was lovely and think price is great for what you are getting. Had the Beef dinner which was lovely and we thought the puddings were a great price . We did wait quite a while to be asked about puddings and found waiters/waitresses standing there but not actually coming to ask if wanted a pudding etc . Very busy atmosphere but was nice to see . Would defiantly recommend and come back to eat there again .
Food was good. Service was good, drinks served quickly. When food was served had to ask for sauces. Noise level very high due to several large parties
At last my wife and son have found New Zealand butter chicken, they are chuffed to bits and its local. Will be back again and again. Kiwi Curry Munchers :-)
Fabulous Indian food. Service a little slow, but it was very busy and they did the best they could.
We had an enjoyable evening at The Malt House. The service was great and thought the food was delicious. There is lots of variety on the menu. We are looking forward to returning in the near future.
Lovely food and served in a very timely manner. Staff were friendly and attentive even though it was clearly very busy. Will definitely visit again.
Lovely service will be coming again soon 10 out of 10 thanks for a nice meal with our friends
Excellent meal at Malthouse.....rump steak was cooked to perfection and si was the rib eye steak my husband had.
Will definitely return soon
went there for a family meal and ordered the roast dinner, ‘roast’ is a very strong word!
the mash was so gloopy you literally could swollow it, it had also formed a skin on top by the time it got bought out, the roast potatoes and parsnips were absolutely shocking they were literally white, not roasted at all I wouldn’t even say they were boiled properly, the Yorkshire pudding just tasted like a ball of greese, the only thing that was edible was literally the peas. No one came over to ask if the food was ok, we were just shoved at the back of the restaurant and forgotten about, when the lady came to get the plates I then told her how awful the food was, to which she said that was very unusual for a roast dinner?
We was given 20% off the bill and free deserts to compensate.
I won’t be returning and definitely won’t be recommending anyone to go either
You never have the same person serving you....
So nobody knows where you are in your meal...
Which is such a shame as the food and value is amazing
The music could do with a look at aswell... bit to hard core for sunday lunch
I'm only saying this as I think it was our fault going later ... but the meat was a bit scarce... wasnt last time
I also heard someone else saying ... crist wheres the meat on this sunday lunch .... to which the waiter came running out with a plate that would feed a starving dog
Which I was very jealous of
Very disappointed with our meal overall we ordered off the sizzling menus both meals arrived with no sizzle in site the waitress said the sizzle had stopped on her way from the kitchen! My order had raw onions and overcooked steak as for the jack daniels sauce that was completely missing! My wife had the chicken this consisted of undercooked onion and peppers in a chilli sauce with four slices of chicken! And no real taste!
The starters we ordered were none descript , we didn’t stop to order a desert !!
Nice meal served quickly error with order sorted but on the bill quickly removed and sorted music a little loud
Great Sunday roast!! Generous portions and plenty of fresh vegetables .
Good Sunday Menu . Liked the look of Evening Menu too and Indian Meal Options.Warm and welcoming atmostphere.
Bit slow in service thou. Got busier & staff then seemed to forget pudding order then 10 minutes after advise our choices have ran out
Came here for a low-key birthday meal for 6. Service was good - a little bit slow at times but they were starting to get busy. Good, tasty food at a reasonable price. Background music a bit irritating for a Sunday lunch time but overall a pleasant lunch with friendly staff.
Very enjoyable good food and drink good service my only gripe it took ages to pay the bill
Food was awful. We sent it back and ate elsewhere.
Terrible. We waited 20 minutes for the pre-booked table, then gave up waiting for service after 50 minutes and walked out. Never again!
Food quality not good. Slow drinks service but staff were friendly.
Comprehensive menu; reasonably priced; great service; friendly staff
Great food , very generous portions staff vey friendly and helpfull
Awful service and food. We had to wait almost half an hour for drinks and in the end had to go and get them from the bar ourself as it had taken so long for them to be brought to us and our food was coming.
We were also given the wrong drinks.
We asked for a glass that took 10/15 minutes to arrive.
We wasn’t given any cutlery and had to go and get our own as no staff were around.
The food did not taste good and was not worth our money.
Wow what a menu !!!
All the food ordered for 5 ladies last night was beautiful. Took us a while to decide because of the large menu choices .
Everyone was very happy with their meal . My Chicken Pathia was so tasty !
Lovely warm welcome, attentive staff.
Can’t wait to return!!!
Keep up the great service 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Only criticism was the music was a bit loud whilst we were trying to chat after our meal .
Service was very quick and polite didnt wait long for starter and dinner then was greedy and had a pudding food was fantastic and hot would highly recommend
We all had a lovely meal &. A pleasant drink outside in the garden
Our waitress seemed to forget us . Had to ask for our starter & main course.
Lovely food had sweet chilli chicken was lovely not had a bad meal at the malt
This is the second time that my husband and I have eaten at the Malt House and we are both happy to eat there again. The food and drink was served quickly and politely and we're asked twice if everything was ok and it was; we both enjoyed our food - my husband had a curry and I had their beef sizzle.
My only criticism , and it is small, is that our plates were not cleared away when we had finished.
This was my first visit and it was lovely. The place had character with great decor and the staff were very friendly with great service. Food was great too. Will definately go back again.
Had to wait 40 minutes for food. They did apologise, and gave us 1 drink, and one pudding for free.
Super excellent food
Service needs attention...all the safe are super busy.. you never get served by the same person
So nobody knows what's what and where you are in your meal
