Serving seasonal and locally sourced fresh food with a twist on classic dishes. Not forgetting its British roots, the menu has lovingly been created by our Head Chef. To accompany our fantastic new menu, we also have a brand new wood fire pizza oven in an open kitchen, cooking fresh Napolese style pizzas.
The Maltstone also has a great selection of drinks, including Cocktails and Wines.
We where there today tor father's day. Food was good, service was slow but friendly. Overall a good 4 stars
We were a midweek lunch party of 4 retirerees. Usually lunch at Crown and Sandys or Kings Arms Ombersley but fancied a change. Very disappointed indeed. Basically poor choice, small portions, long wait and no atmosphere. This huge place is beautifully appointed but there was absolutely no atmosphere on arrival and only 2 other diners on this occasion. No welcome whatsoever from the staff. We chose our table and eventually our food from the limited menu. I was told my choice which was a risotto was not available so went for next best choice which was lamb. In fact 3 of us went for the lamb and one had cod and chips. The food took an hour to appear at the table!! It was nice but nothing special. The lamb was nicely cooked but the vegetables were a joke! 4 tiny cubes of potato. 3 chunks of carrot and a tablespoon of beetroot purée plus another desert spoon of gravy jus. To make a meal you will need to order vegetables and potatoes as a side too making it a fairly expensive meal. We couldn't get out of there fast enough and decided to move on to Lord Mortons for coffee and desert. What a good choice. And what a lovely welcome from the man himself. We're going there for lunch too next time.
Had a lovely Saturday lunch here from the prix fixe menu. The food was great, especially the confit duck leg.
A good evening with friends. Starters were very good- the parfait very much so.
The lamb was excellent and the sea bass very good.
The service and atmosphere was first-rate.
Great food and great service. Just a shame that the restaurant was so quiet as this really detracted from the ambience. No reason why this really good restaurant should be so quiet on a Saturday night.
The food was excellently cooked but very small portions. There were two other couples and by 8pm only two people left eating. I think the size of portions and price would put people off. The 50% off pitzas by 6pm would not be a draw for working people.
Staff welcoming, not much atmosphere, food good (burgers and piazza) but the food took way too long to come out of the kitchen. Disappointing.
The food was amazing, and the service was unbelievable
First visit, combined with a Birthday Sunday lunch. Good first impression with excellent roast chicken meal and tasty side of cauliflower cheese. Intend to return to sample the evening menu and atmosphere.
Very friendly staff! Lovely ambiance! Nice food!
Excellent mid week meal. Exceptional service by the staff who were the perfect yet difficult to obtain balance of attentive yet not too overbearing. Food and wine were very lovely and an extremely broad choice on the menus.
Really slow service and food not worth the price ridiculous charges for mediocre food and small portions...we were not once asked if our meal was ok.
Our first and last visit!!
Lovely setting upon arrival and good freindly professional service. Ordered drinks including the special gin and was optimistic for a great meal...however we were very let down and it could have been great.
They had a very large table in which really messed up the night, understandably so but we were not informed and apologised to until the very end when we mentioned how disappointed we were.
The food took nearly an hour to arrive when it did arrive it was poorly sized and my a la Carte main was nice but simply stir fry veg and meat, no noodles or anything to complete the meal, I was not informed that I would need to order sides and I really don’t think that sides of chips or mash would really go with this dish! My husbands special burger meal was small and so simple really nothing special or enjoyable complete disappointment, my children’s meals were of good quality and fine but arrived as dry undressed baps with the plain meat.
All of this cost rather a lot for what it was but the 2hr meal for one course and kids ice cream (which also took over 20 mins to arrive) was a complete let down and spoilt our family meal out.
We received an apology at the end with a slight discount but when you charge £8 for a gin and tonic you expect more!
Lovely setting such a shame :(
It was very pleasant
Chilly in room temperature & ambience. Food portions small and food flavours nothing special. Avoid Beer -a- misu, its basically a lump of cream with a sickly syrup.
Lovely evening thank you. I was bemused that head waiter wore jeans for such a more up market restaurant. Congrats to the chef, very good meal, but a shame your drinks are so expensive.
As a frequent commuter past The Maltstone, I've often thought the pub was closed.
Sometimes unlit, the sign outside not lit etc.
So when it came to booking my Anniversary meal, I wanted somewhere nice, homely, quiet and away from Kidderminster.
As my visit before my anniversary, the pub looked open, I decided to book here.
The service was great, very professional, the pub was busy, but quiet (considering there was a football game on).
While I was expecting traditional pub food, this was not the case. Mostly pizza and burgers being offered, I chose to go for a more traditional sausage, mash and gravy.
We were served this on an oversized bowl, two sausages and little mash.
Followed up by a dessert which wasn't hearty or filling.
Unfortunately, for the money spent, I wouldn't return.
While the atmosphere is excellent, I wouldn't spend that money there again, and I have enjoyed cheaper and filling meals in other public houses (including one Steak and Ale pie, which kept me full for 2 days).
Excellent food and service
The booking was for Sunday lunch. Price was high relative to other local pubs. Vegetables were poor and lacking imagination, portion size was small for two people. Meat, pork, was well cooked and portion size OK. Very large Yorkshire pudding.
The staff and service was wonderful and the food was outstanding, will definitely be back
Great, thank you! Booked last minute for an evening meal and wasn't disappointed.
Very quiet for the Saturday before Christmas but lovely - service is always good, staff lovely - perhaps more vegetarian options would be welcome. Back again soon, thank you!
The staff were very friendly without being too intrusive. They made a mistake with my main and offered to recook which I declined and they brought out a complimentary dessert with an apology written in chocolate. Thought it was a great touch and nothing was too much for them. Would highly recommend and worth the drive. Will definitely be returning.
As always a great meal even though they gave a new head chef that has been promoted from within ,good call as he is a knowledgeable willing individual who is not afraid putting in the hours to get his just rewards but at the same time creating the right environment to encourage team spirit
Food was good but not enough of it we all left still feeling hungry. This was our second visit and on both occasion we left feeling the same
Really nice place and excellent service. The bread board was surprising: gorgeous fresh foccacia but small and tough 'corn ear shaped' pieces.
My friend ordered the halloumi and cous cous, I had king prawn tagliatelle. Both were lovely but mine was easily double the quantity of hers. Excellent Frangiapane and Brownie desserts . Would go again.
WE WENT THEIR FOR A BIRTHDAY MEAL ON A FRIDAY EVENING, THE PLACE WAS DEAD, NO ATMOSPHERE. THE CHOICE (IF ONE CAN BE A CHOICE) OF BEER WAS POOR, DOOMBAR WHY NO BOTTLED ALES NOT ALL OF US DRINK LAGER. ALSO NO ENERGY DRINKS, GOOD JOB THEY HAD TAPWATER. IF SOMEONE HAS A SIZZLING STEAK THE ROOM FILLS WITH SMOKE NOT VERY PLEASANT FOR ANYONE BUT ESPECIALLY FOR THE VEGETARIANS IN OUR PARTY. THE MENU IS LIMITED AND EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET. STAFF WERE VERY PLEASANT AND ATTENTIVE AND COULDN'T BE FAULTED.
Great Sunday lunch had by all. Really lovely food and excellent service. Highly recommend.
Good friendly service.
Shirt waiting time, attention to detail and nice atmosphere.
Shame it was so quiet! Hardly any other diners
Unfortunately booked here after a good experience for my 50th birthday celebrations but lots of the menu was not available, wrong wine bought, drinks forgotten and candles around the room being blown out - time to leave
Quiet on Tuesday evening but the food was delicious! Staff were happy to adjust means to suit fussy diners and service was swift and polite. Loved it
First time we have visited. Excellent meal with first class service. We really liked the place and plan to re-visit in the not too distant future.
I visited the Maltstone with friends for Sunday lunch and we were impressed with the service and the pizzas were delicious
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Greeted by welcoming staff member - never rushed, very helpful. Lovely modern chic surroundings great for private conversation - tables well spaced. Food & drink reasonably priced. We had the mini meals and it was beautifully presented. One small complaint is that the halloumi mini meal was a little sparse. Will definitely return. Also extremely clean and tidy. Recommended!
Simply a little gem in a small town in Worcestershire. Food is fantastic and the service was outstanding
It was the first time we visited The Maltstone and it certainly won't be the last. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. The ambience of the restaurant was just perfect.
Very nice pub with friendly and welcoming staff. Decor is pleasant with high quality fittings. Good range of drinks and food choice is excellent, especially having a Gluten Free Alternative for most items on the menu - much appreciated when one of the party requires this option.
The only criticism is the size of some of the portions for the cost; the menu is not cheap and would expect a bit more on the plate for the amount charged.
We visited early evening. There was beer on draught (although only a choice of one). The meal was very good. Not massive portions but very tasty. Expensive but we didn't feel excessively so.
Great venu lovely bar and seating
Food disappointing very small portions. Asked about puddings and was told a basil scone with afternoon tea so ordered and served with 1/8 of a scone. Hardley a cream tea
Great food, fast service
