The team behind Serge et le Phoque, Hong Kong's Michelin-starred restaurant headed up by duo Charles Pelletier and Frédéric Peneau, will open a London outpost within The Mandrake. The menu at Serge et le Phoque will not only be daily changing but may change from table to table due to the team's savior faire philosophy. The à la carte and chef's tasting menu guides diners so that the meal ebbs and flows with dishes that surprise and challenge as much as delight. Example dishes will include: Octopus with century egg, aji Armaillo, tobico & ginger. Scallop with anchovy, fried leek root, dried shitake & matcha tea. Dacquoise with almond biscuit, vanilla cream & nougatine. The wine list will feature selection of organic, biodynamic and natural old and new world wines and will be overseen by Bert Blaize. The Serge et le Phowue team heads up the 80-cover restaurant with a 16-person private dining room, and will be providing home-cooked treats in the minibar.

Very low quality fish, was served the thinner part of a turbot filet.
Very low quality freshness, frozen turbot.
Very low quality cooking, overcooked turbot.
You could eat better on a motorway station.

Shame as the place looks nice, but clearly they don't have the mean or access to the right food quality that their menu prices suggest.

The food at Serge et le Phoc is highly sophisticated but not over-complicated. The value offered by the set lunch is outstanding. On the day we went the Evening Standard Magazine published a pretty unflattering review (2 stars out of 5) and I couldn't agree with their critic at all. Mind you she spent a fortune on the a la carte menu and I didn't!

The slightly bizarre feature is that there doesn't seem to be any way of knowing that you have arrived at the Mandrake, apart from a man stationed outside who tells you to proceed through an unlit entrance-way. Inside the décor is tasteful and in places very innovative.

Excellent flavour combinations from an intriguing menu. The service was a bit awkward but well-meaning and very friendly. Good set menu options and a nice ambience. Not as busy as we'd expected considering it is newly opened. Definitely worth a visit...

We arrived at the Mandrake late on a dark evening and the entrance was very dark.
I thought it was for Halloween but the doorman said it was always like that.
The Bar area and the whole feel of the hotel is very original but the choices of gins and drinks in general was exceptional.
The food and service is of a very high quality, although my wife did not enjoy her fish very much (foam all around it), my Pidgeon was lovely and the cabbage and broccoli superb.

A very different vibe to this restaurant but a very enjoyable evening.

I wasn't sure what to expect as hadn't read many reviews, but absolutely loved it. I could eat the dacquoise every day although I wound probably die from obesity. The staff were also so lovely. It was a shame the main bar was closed for a private party but would definitely come again.

The hotel looks like a very high class setting for an affair, but the restaurant within is discreet and producing very classy modern European cooking. Excellent value lunch menu - two courses £22, three for £27 - and some seriously impressive dishes. Well worth a visit, one of the best value five star meals I have had in London.

Very nice hotel especially the main bar & downstairs bathroom area. The restaurant was busy. Food was nice especially the octopus starter, pigeon main & chocolate dessert. Service needs improving although staff were very friendly. Long waits for orders to be taken, dessert menu to be offered & bill payment. Cocktails were forgotten & brought after starters. Hopefully teething problems that will be ironed out. Will be back.

It was Sunday lunch and the restaurant was a little quiet, but the food, decor and service were excellent. All staff members were very polite and friendly and happy to show off their beautiful hotel. We will definitely be back and hopefully next time it will be a little busier!
