The March Hare
Very helpful and nice staff, food was reasonable. Good atmosphere and a pleasant evening, but the food could have been slightly better quality. Nice setting though, we had a good time and it was very busy!
Very nice place. Good for elderly people too as car park close to pub. Service a little slow but they were very busy
Meet and greet was very good, asked if we would like a drink while looking at the menu. Drinks ordered & delivered fairly quickly. Food ordered, but one choice was not available. Food was very good and hot when delivered. But our evening was spoilt buy a noisy disruptive child, who was being ignored most of the time. Obviously not much discipline at home.
We would be happy to return to the restaurant, but perhaps pick our time more carefully,it was 6pm on a Sunday evening !
The restraunt was extremely busy, even though we booked they weren't ready for us. The service was so poor had to wait an hour for food, nobody came to offer us any drinks or the bill. Had to stand at the till for 10 minutes for someone to let us pay the bill. Usually a good place to eat, but really unimpressed this time. Doubt we will return. The food was also cold.
Took my relatives visiting from Australia here Sunday 30th Sept 6:30pm 2018. As expected it was very busy so service was slow but didn't matter as we chatted and enjoyed the surroundings. My cousin had a Caesar salad with a very generous piece of salmon, her husband had the steak and ale pie that was so big he couldn't finish it and I had a delicious hunters chicken, excellent meals and thoroughly enjoyed our evening, many thanks to the staff!
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch, of quality food excellent and staff happy and friendly, would recommend it very much, slightly more expensive than the average Sunday lunch but world of difference in quality
I had an excellent meal to celebrate my birthday with friends. The food was delicouis and well presented , the service was slow. The pub was busy, however it gave us more time to chat . I was presented with a bottle of prosecco on leaving because of the occasion and an apology for the initial slow service. Our waiter was very pleasant. My main course salmon was the best meal I have had in a long time, no dissapointments in the food, this was expressed by all 6 of us.
Was very busy hence rather slow service, but quite acceptable in the circumstances. Able to take our time and relax, no hurry.
Great food and helpful and cheerful staff, would always be happy to recommend this lovely restaurant.
The March Hare is a lovely pub with good service and lovely food. I would advise booking directly with them, not via Open Table. We booked a table for mothers day via Open Table and the pub didn't have our booking on the system. The staff did their best to accommodate us - we squeezed around a bar table and they knocked the first round of drinks off the bill.
I have been several times before. This time I was disappointed with my choice of food. The calamari was delicious. However the sandwich I had was far too much bread and not enough filling I had a ham melt the cheese was hard to find and the ham just bearly there. Also the triple cooked chips were not to the usual standard. I will not be put off going again as previously everything had been marvellous, maybe the usual chef was missing and the stand-in was not to par.
The only criticism I have is that we found the table we sat at was in a cold spot, so had to wear our outdoor clothes. Apart from that it is a great place. Wrap up warm if you are visiting in the wintertime.
It was a busy evening but we were looked after well.
The food and staff were 1st class but the evening was spoiled by 2 children constantly running around the restaurant.
I mentioned this to a member of staff who stated she was not allowed to say anything until someone complained.
It was obvious to anyone they were a hazard and a nuisance.
It will not deter me from returning though.
Been many times to March Hare, and is first choice when in the area to visit family
It has a great atmosphere, food is good and staff are always friendly.
Nice place, done up recently very nice ambiance. Food very good & tasty
Out for family meal, kids really enjoyed the evening and staff were very polite and helpful
This was our first time visit to the March Hare and we were pleasantly surprised. Our lunch was well cooked and we enjoyed it from a very variable menu. The service was a bit slow. We will come again.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, definitely return after rerfurbishment !
we had a lovely Valentine lunch . The food was more than acceptable , the service was very good and it wasn't over priced for an occasion like Valentine's day . I was given a lovely red rose and it's still looking good . We both decided that it was a lovely afternoon and we will be returning to the March Hare .
Excellent food in a very nice setting with open fire.
Staff good, and didn't rush us which was appreciated.
Only slight gripe was the menu presented suggested 3 courses for £20, and this wasn't the case - didn't mention at time but could be a little clearer.
Very happy with the food and service. would definately come again especially if we had any discount coupons.
Staff overworked, vegetables way over cooked, not enough staff. We have been here before and enjoyed it but this time very poor.
Waited one hour and 45 mins for main meal. Service was friendly, when you manage to get it as they were very understaffed. Food was good when it came. Long wait for menus, for drinks etc. We last came here six months ago, and experienced the same issue so sadly won't be returning as they haven't improved things, which is a shame as it's a lovely picturesque pub.
Service very very slow If you had to get back to work would be very difficult. Waited 40 minutes to order then around 45 mins for food to arrive , starved when it eventually arrived
