The Mash Inn
Absolutely brilliant! Food, atmosphere and service were great. We had a long Friday lunch for my husband’s birthday.
Very friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. Food as delivered didn't match menu card, but if you fancy a "surprise" meal, this could be for you. The "amuse bouche" style offerings were unexceptional, mains poor, but the soup and coffee were good. Overall it's poor value for money.
Gets better and better.
Outstanding attention to flavour and innovation.
Size of portions for tasting menu remains perfect.
The food at the Mash Inn is absolutely delicious. Fresh, local products used to produce creative and comforting food. The service was great, they have created an intimate and local feeling which is reflected by the head chef talking you through the dishes and the owner serving you food and telling you about the pubs history. The menu was interesting, I loved the idea of snacks to start and it was an absolute treat waiting to see what came next. I think in total we had 8 courses...amazing value for money!
Fantastic meal . Had the tasting menu and every course was a delightful revelation. Loved the fact the chef came out and explained some of the dishes and gave us a quick tour of the kitchen at the end of our meal. Service excellent, great wines. Absolutely nothing to fault.
Lovely venue - very attentive service and truly delicious food
Absolutely outstanding and quite unique.
Unreserved praise. Can’t wait to go back
This is such a special place. The food is incredible and so inventive. Second visit and love it. Will be back!!
The best lunch I think I have ever experienced. The staff were fantastic, as was the whole experience. We will be definitely returning for another dinning extravaganza.
A superbly crafted restaurant set in the beautiful Chiltern countryside.
A really inclusive approach to the food you are being presented with and of course eating. The 'snacks' were superb particularly the leeks. Glad to see, finally, that bog butter gets its day in the sun... service was exemplary. Wine list goes hand in hand with everything else. Worth every penny. Pub? Restaurant? A restaurant in what was a pub... who cares!
Nowhere better! Awesome food, service, drinks, location. The best dining experience anyone could ever wish for. Just go! (Or maybe I should be saying don’t go - as then I stand a better chance of getting another reservation!) You guys are the best!
Excellent food, perfect service (attentive but not overly so), beautiful location. Will definitely visit again.
Wedding Anniversary Meal. Absolutely lovely ... we were lucky enough to have a particularly quiet Wednesday night and we were treated impeccably. We had the choice of tables, a fantastic tasting menu - with many additional nibbles (with the chefs talking through anything we wanted to know) and a wine selection that perfectly complimented the dishes (Hannah chose the perfect wine to accompany a couple of dishes at a time). A fabulous, memorable evening - many thanks!
This is just a fabulous find my husband & 1 had wonderful lunch on a beautiful sunny afternoon many thanks to all who where involved we will be back soon with family 🥂⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My new favourite restaurant . They can only be using witchcraft to conjure such flavour
The Mash Inn was fantastic. Nick was the ultimate host... offering suggestions and even changing the menu slightly so that we could have an even better sharing feast. All the staff were friendly and knowledgable, and it was sunny... so we got to have drinks in the garden, looking out at the incredible view.
We stayed all afternoon and were not rushed, it was a wonderful day.
Absolutely incredible food and service! Setting is gorgeous too, pub is so cute and cosy and the view from the dining area is lovely. All food was incredible and so fresh and delicious. Service was outstanding too! Will definitely be back
The service is amazing, the tasting menu was interesting and beautifully presented. Amazing scallops.
Loved the homegrown salad. This restaurant is where you come for a special treat.
My husband and I had an amazing evening! The staff were sincere and welcoming. We were shown the kitchen and introduced to the chef. We were very jealous of the magnificent grill! The food was out of this world and everything was so fresh and delicious! The bog butter stands out and we chose a Cornish blue lobster which was outstanding! The wine suggestions were spot on and we would highly recommend to anyone. It’s worth every penny for such a great dining experience. Can’t wait to go back!
Would I recommend? I can not stop talking about the outstanding food and experience we had on our anniversary at the Mash Inn. The daily menu was a culinary masterclass of ever changing ingredients.
Keep it going that way.
A beautifully served and imaginative menu, with lots of little surprises and culinary adventures. This is one of our favourite restaurants anywhere.
We came for my wife's birthday celebrations and the Mash Inn really made the evening special. We had the tasting menu and it was quite the experience. We were there for 4 hours, we both agreed that is was the most amazing food we have both ever eaten and we could have carried on eating all night! The staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the food. We will definitely be returning.
The most amazing lunch, as ever. Tasting menu over 3 1/2 hours and superbly executed hosting. Can’t wait to return.
Very unique and absolutely incredible food in a very cute old pub with a fantastic view over the rolling hills.
If you told me this place had a Michelin star, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. It's that good.
Yes I would recommend the Mash Inn to serious appreciators of fresh food who enjoy top quality ingredients prepared simply but still with panache.
Excellent if you love tasting menus in a quiet picturesque setting... highly recommend for the quality of the food, experience and attentive staff. Couldn't fault anything except would liked to have seen an alternative to English sparkling wine on the menu, although it's nice that they're trying to keep it local. The tasting menu felt healthy in a way as they use great quality ingredients and nothing is overly filling with some organic produce from the garden.
Excellent as ever, great service and food! Highly recommended
Very nice and genuine welcome by James, followed by an invitation to view the kitchen - where the chefs worked over the grill - We chose the set menu for our lunch - (I don't usually do that) and was glad that I did.. absolutely delicious.. A totally perfect lunchtime experience, we were last to leave but never felt hurried.
My new favourite restaurant - go there and try it !
British fine dining at its best. Choose between a tasting menu or a selection of dishes on a fixed price menu. We had the cote du boeuf for a main course, outstanding.
I took my Dad for his birthday for lunch, the food was great and we had a lovely view across the fields. I didn’t have a dessert so they very kindly didn’t charge us for our coffee’s, a very nice gesture. I will definitely be back with my husband.
From the welcome upon our arrival, to the farewell at our departure we were individually looked after by the team in a way that made us feel very special... thank you.
After a drink in the bar, we were shown through to the dining room... Talking to the Chef and discussing the Kitchen prior to being seated was great ‘food for thought’.
The Tasting Menu and Wine Pairing were excellent. We loved all of the dishes, especially those that came between the ones on the menu and the wines were all ones we don’t think that we’d ever have chosen ourselves had we been left to our own devices and were fab when paired, great points for discussion around the table, much enjoyed by us all.
Thank you for making our evening such a memorable one, especially as we were celebrating our sons 30th birthday along with his Fiancé.
We are already recommending The Mash Inn to anyone prepared to listen and will be back in the future.
Keep up the standards and never be complacent... well done to you all!!
The £25 lunch menu is great value. The food was really tasty, the service friendly and all set in a very special and beautiful location. I look forward to going back sometime.
From the moment we walked in we were treated to a warm welcome by every member of staff. It is clearly run by people that love what they do, as it was our first time we were taken into the kitchen to meet the chef. This was then followed by the most incredible food! Our experience was faultless and I cannot wait to visit again.
Excellent foody experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a top quality meal. Will come back in the summer when fresh produce from the Garden is available.
Second time here and once again the best food I’ve had in 20 years.
The Mash Inn is a wonderful venue set in lovely countryside; a true hidden gem.
Hannah (front of house) provided a warm welcome, in fact by the time I finished my drink at the bar I felt like I had reacquainted with a long lost friend.
The staff are incredibly attentive and responsive. This is a beautiful restaurant in all respects (food exceptionally good and full of flavours) - feels a little bit pricey for the location!
A must visit venue and worth the drive particularly in the summer months I would imagine.
A well executed idea born in Queens Park!
Wonderful staff and wonderful food. Being shown the kitchen before the meal was a lovely touch.
Hands down the best meal I've ever eaten, brilliantly complemented by friendly, laid back staff and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. It is expensive, but for the for the quantity and quality of food provided, I actually believe that it's great value. We were made to feel very at home and would be sure to return at some point in the not too distant future (once funds have recovered).
We had the set lunch menu which was ideal.
No wine as we were both driving.
It was lovely to be shown the kitchen space before sitting down
Food was an explosion of taste.
Delightful table overlooking the garden. We ate watching the wildlife.
Attentive and informative service.
