Open from 12.30 pm -9: 30 pm and serving an eclectic range of dishes inspired from cuisine around the world, it's the ideal place to dine. Sunday Lunch served all day from 12.30pm - 9.30pm.

Considering the restaurant was only 1/3 full we waited 45 minutes for our main course. My wife's meal was fine and I had a vegetarian dish, which if I am honest was no better than what I would normally cook at home. However, there was a nice ambience and the waiting staff were very attentive and helpful.

Fabulous Sunday lunch in lovely surroundings. The roast beef was slightly pink and beautifully tender.

Nice hotel , great location but unfortunately, the Maven is far from reaching its full potential. Decor is reasonable (if not a little old fashioned) however, the ambience is non existent - very few people in giving the Maven less atmosphere than the moon. Service was reasonable, but a lack of bread was disappointing - at £50 for two for Sunday lunch , one would expect bread as a given. The food choice was good and the meal itself was fine - unfortunately the experience was let down by the complete lack of ambience. Cafe 21 and Dobson & Parnell offer similar price menus, serve better food, offer better service and are invariably full ....enough said !

The Maven is beautifully decorated and has a cosy but elegant feel. The menu isn’t huge but there’s still plenty of choice, and it’s very unpretentious. The portions are generous, I was very full after a starter and main. All in all a good dining experience with a view of the Tyne Bridge to complete it!

Fantastic food that caterers for a variety of palettes and dietary requirements, but quite a formal setting that seemed to necessitate a quiet atmosphere, a little like a library. That said, the staff were friendly and the wine was good.
I would definitely come here again.

Food was delicious with excellent presentation. Very enjoyable meal, restaurant wasn't very busy but hotel was hosting wedding and drink service was slow because of this. However really didn't detract from lovely late afternoon/evening meal.

The food was excellent. This is fairly standard though as it is also excellent. On this visit I'd made just a simple request that we have a window seat with a nice view and noted it was a special occasion. When we arrived we were shown to our table which had an amazing view of the Tyne Bridge and the table was decorated nicely. Small touch but it meant a lot to my guests who were visiting Newcastle for the first time in 50 years!
Our waitress was also excellent and was able to make recommendations and was knowledgeable about the menu. Young Polish girl who's name I didn't catch.

I booked this for a family event to celebrate my 80th birthday. Had a lovely meal then coffee in the lounge. It was my first visit and will not be the last.

Lovely food service good although a little too long a wait between courses. Not a huge problem but should either advise if food delayed or ask if happy to wait.

Booked for our daughters Graduation meal. Lovely restaurant and all our meals were very tasty, drink choices good although no Wylam Beers which I’ve seen highlighted previously but not a problem but maybe take off menu if a regular thing?

Great vegan menu which we tried too 👍

Service very good but it was empty when we visited, concierge guy was lovely.

Would definitely go again 😊

The food at the Maven was very good- well cooked and presented. The sharing starters were excellent and good value for money. The waiting staff were good but service was a bit slow. We were the only ones left in the restaurant at the end but it took a while for desserts to arrive.
One thing I would say is that the restaurant was very dark . All of the curtains were closed and as it was very warm outside this made the room hot and oppressive .

We dined here for our anniversary the service was impeccable - staff were very accommodating and very good at their jobs - nothing was a problem a credit to the restaurant. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Would definitely dine here again.

The food was beautiful and the service was second to none. The setting of the restaurant was lovely with low lighting however this made the room a bit too dark especially as all of the blinds were closed too. Overall though it great and we would definitely go back.

Would recommend for food but ambiance wasn’t great (curtains should have either been all shut or all open - but it was half & half which gave a weird lighting). Felt like we had to whisper as there was a very ‘serious’ atmosphere (our waitress was also a bit stern). Food was spot on though & the other issues are easily worked on!

Reception good and a pleasant room. Service attentive at the start and our food and wine was fine. Sea bream and curry both tasty, hot and enjoyable dishes - the starter too was a lovely mezzo sharing platter. Waiter was pleasant and engaged easily with us but then we saw little more of him after the meal.
However, during the meal the restaurant manger ( we presumed since he was suited) spent all evening clearing unused tables and resetting for breakfast - disrespectful to diners - this was a dinner restaurant and such disruption is a distraction and undervalues the occasion. The bill was then difficult to obtain and even longer to pay - waiters seemed more distracted by other jobs - it was difficult to get attention - nobody seemed bothered to attend to this part of the evening - even the manager on our departure seemed dismissive of our concerns.

A superb evening. A table close by were a little intrusive with their YouTube videos being watched, at full volume, but they were sorted out. All in all a fantastic eating experience.

Bread was dry, scones burnt, cakes weren’t great but acceptable, had to ask for butter for scones, weren’t given or asked if wanted refill of coffee, no one asked if enjoyed apart from at the end when paying the, never go back

Promised much on the website but was very unexceptional. Staff spent time chatting together rather than watching the tables. Decor is very dark and gloomy - very unattractive place to eat in. Curtains fully drawn at 7.30 on a late May evening even though there is a good view of the Tyne Bridge from the dining room as we found the next morning. Food OK only. Two thirds empty on a Saturday night says it all. This is style over substance - nul points to the designer and the same to whoever signed it off. Plenty of better places to eat in Newcastle without the mediocrity and pretension found here.
