Great find for an early Sunday evening dinner.
Staff v friendly and food options good.
Lovely food. Great atmosphere. Easy to find. Quaint little pub! Will definitely be returning thanks x
Lovely environment, relaxing music, lovely staff but just waited awhile between courses.
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. Online booking was for two, but they were kind enough to add our daughter and her boyfriend at the last minute. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food good quality and decent portions.
Went with a group of friends (3 couples); food was excellent and service prompt and polite. Pricing fair for what and where it is.
Have been before just with my partner too; its not rowdy so could enjoy a meal for just two if the occasion arose.
This is good quality, nicely presented, everyday meals, with a good choice to the menu for both starters and mains.
Thoroughly recommend and will go again.
Saw waitress filling ketchup bottle from cheap catering container
Saw dirty jay cloths and cleaner one left on table and one at entance area
White wine was warm
Side dishes were dirty with dried on food
Waited ages for msin to arrive
Overall dissapointed considering Milestones reputation
Did not aspire us to return - sorry 😢
Food is gorgeous and staff are really nice and friendly but it’s a shame that the layout is tights my husband were asked to move on 5 occasions by staff so that they could get to the cost hooks behind him and he’s not a big guy just that there was another seat at another table obstructing their way towards the coat hook. It started to get a little annoying
The restaurant is very well done out and in a nice area. The service was really good from start to finish and the food was superb. Only a small menu but the quality is brilliant. We booked and ordered from the normal menu but they look to have some really good offers on their website and they have an early bird menu that has good choice and is really well priced. Would definitely recommend.
Brilliant food and service, no complaints at all. Had the early bird menu which was excellent value for money. It was fairly noisy however it was a happy atmosphere. Would definitely return and recommend it to anyone. Thank you!
Excellent experience and delicious food, laid back atmosphere and attentive staff. I would recommend the Milestone to friends.
Lovely evening, thank you.
The price was good and nice setting. Would come again.
Very disappointing. Wouldn’t rush back. We were so looking forward to a lovely meal after being recommended by friends but the food was well below the standard expected for a restaurant of this renown.
All was well until the main meals arrived. One pork dish and one vegetarian Wellington. It was immediately apparent that both dishes were only luke warm. They were duly returned with an explanation. When they arrived back the plates were so hot they couldn’t be touched but yet again the food was uncomfortably cool. I requested fresh hot meals.
we were informed that my wife’s choice had now sold out and could she choose another dish. We were then made to wait some considerable time, as if we were at the back of the queue. After enquiring, the food eventually arrived but even though it was hot it was still well below the quality expected. Along with a dirty wine glass the whole experience was very disappointing. This is an honest appraisal and as such I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and we won’t return any time soon.
I would recommend but not to sit upstairs on a busy Sunday afternoon. It was very busy and the air was thick with cooking smells the type that sticks to your clothes when you leave the premises. Not what you want.
The food -roast beef for 3 was good. The roast potatoes were slightly dry.the beef was excellent, the Yorkshire pud was good. The carrots and cabbage were not hot enough and could have done with more gravy.
The desserts were great rhubarb crumble, was the best I’ve ever eaten.
Had to wait a while for replacement drink and water but other than that the service was good.
Very pleasant welcoming and accommodating staff.
Was slightly disappointed when having to pay extra for roast beef for a lunch we never had!
Didn’t notice until we left.
The bottle of sac blanc was good and reasonably priced at 20 pound.
Fabulous service- we were upstairs where there was large party who were ordering just before us - amazingly our food was not delayed. It was al beautifully presented and taste was out of this world. The however is ... the portions were on the small side.
I would go back there .
Great food and friendly servers in a relaxed atmosphere. Can’t wait to visit again
Really good, friendly staff, only issue was with beef which I would have liked rarer (it was well done)
Wife’s birthday. Food quality and value for money. A silent gem in Yorkshire. Will be going back soon
Booked an early dinner for after a matinee theatre visit. We were a bit early but were greeted and shown to our table. The staff were very helpful and attentive without being in the way. I hadn’t realised there was an ‘early bird’ offer which meant the value for money was extremely good. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. I have been here before and would not hesitate to visit again or recommend to friends. Thank you for a great experience and well done The Milestone!
The food we had was excellent. The early bird offer is really good value .
We went on the lunch offer and it was excellent value for money.
The food was delicious and I was pleased to see the portion size had increased since my last visit which was well over a year.
The hake was divine and the pimms on draft was perfect.
The staff were polite efficient and well versed and did an excellent job.
We will certainly return.
Over rated small portions and quite ordinary food. We were disappointed we had heard good things but didn't live up to our expectations. It wasn't bad but just not enough to want to go back.
I have been supporting the Milestone for 10 years. I've seen it change from a delightful restaurant with fabulous cuisine that I have recommended to many people, to a very poor restaurant. I will not be going back. The quality of the food was terrible. They couldn't even get a salad right. There were to many issues with the food to list.
I always give the milestone 5 stars for everything but unfortunately not this time.
I wanted a table in the main bar area but was told
this was all booked. We sat alone a table of four in the adjoining area which didn’t have the same ambience.
Surprisingly the bar area never filled up so I was left wondering why we weren’t allowed in.
The food was good and amazing value with a voucher so I will be back.
Very very loud party in the main room which initially ruined the atmosphere- the beef bourginon was amazing however the chicken and leek pie was very watery
Excellent food, great flavour, well presented.
A good wine list too.
Took a while between our starter and main, but the waitress acknowledged this and chased up our order before we even raised it.
Had a great evening.
The food was excellent. The menu was innovative and interesting. Unfortunately the service was pretty poor. The waitress tried her best but as she was the only one there it wasnt easy for her
Food is always reliable - although difficult to really shine with Sunday lunch. Have been before, and will go back again, although probably on a different day.
the fresh homemade bread was really tasty and the vegan dessert that two of us had was really original and scrummy
Had the beef bourguinon. If i had known it would be dry and deconstructed i woudnt have ordered it. The beef was dry and crispy and chewy, there was no sauce, and it was full of bacon. I had to ask for more gravy so i could swallow the beef. It was quite tasty but not at all what i would expect of a bourguinon.
The apple rhubarb pear crumble was mediocre with very little crumble.
Was expecting a special experience as it was for my birthday but just got a pub meal.
Love the place. We've had a number of great experiences with the Sunday lunch menu. Home-made soup is always piping hot and very tasty. Staff are also very pleasant and helpful. We will certainly be returning.
We went as a family of 8 people for my son's birthday, The food was just Ok, The beef dinners didn't go down well with some-they said the beef was cut too thick and there was not enough gravy.
I had the Beef Bourguignon, which came as a tower on top of the mashed potatoes, there were gravy round it, but it was very dry.
We still had a nice time, the Atmosphere was nice.
The staff were particularly warm and welcoming and very attentive, the interiors were lovely, however the food was poor. We ordered 2 roast beefs, we had one tiny slice of beef each which was so dry I could hardly chew my way through it, the veggies and potatoes were really nice, which was a shame the main part of the meal let the whole experience down. Overall portion size was tiny, I was still hungry and I can never ever finish a normal size meal.
What a find!! An absolutely lovely place to meet, drink and eat. Food was first rate and excellent value for money. Early bird menu- before our concert. Two people, two courses, two glasses of wine and two cocktails £43.00. Staff were friendly and service was great. They booked our taxi for our onward journey too. Highly recommend you try out this little gem of a restuarant.
Really nice and cosy restaurant. The staff was very nice. The ingredients were fresh and of good quality
We booked because we like to chat in a nice environment with good food at a reasonable price. We have been previously and enjoyed it.
The food service was slow, we waited around an hour from arriving to food being served. Food was good, reasonably priced mains but sides are expensive.
When the bill came we worked out what we owed (there were 7 of us) and put the cash on the tray with the bill. The waitress cams and told us they didn’t take cash did we have a card. We said no as not all of us had. We were then left 10 minutes so decided to get up and take the bill and the cash to the till. We were told again by the manager they didn’t take cash, he seemed rather put out that we didn’t have a card between us, which we did but not all of us and some didn’t want to put theirs on a card. We were told there was a banner on opentable (which I still can’t see) and we should have known. We asked if it was their policy to explain they don’t take cash when they seat people, the answer was no, we asked if it was clearly stated on their menu, the answer again was no. Whilst I understand the benefits of being a cashless business surely this shouldn’t be to the detriment of the customer or the experience. One person in our group paid on card and took the cash, this inconvenienced them in now having to manage the cash. I think this is a business decision that has been made on the benefits to the organisation without regard to how customers will be impacted. I’m sure the Milestone think that if their customers don’t like it they will vote with their feet and they are right. The 7 of us have decided we won’t be visiting any of the Milestone businesses in future because of their policy, that’s 7 people and their friends an family right in their target market.
The restaurant wasn’t busy, the service was lovely, just the right level of attentiveness. The food was very tasty but a little on the cool (temperature) side for me. Very good value and an interesting menu
I love the Milestone. Great value and always feel they’re putting the customer first rather than any cons or marketing tricks. Lovely food, nice setting, great service.
First time we had been here on Sunday and the food was beautiful. Our waiter was very pleasant and polite and made sure we had everything we wanted. Drinks are a bit pricey but it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
We came on a Wowcher deal and the food did not disappoint.
I didn't get our waitress's name, but she was really friendly and helpful
