Fabulous food and great customer service. This was our first time at The mill. We will be back for sure.
Sunday lunch. Starters were good. No lamb main so three of us had beef. Was quite tough and a bit disappointing. Staff very good and offered free desserts but had already paid and after two courses didn't really want more. Shame as we'd been before and food was great. Temporary chef apparently.
Nobody came over to seat us when we walked in which wasn't great as we'd not been in since Corona and werent sure what to do. We were eventually given a choice of where to seat, we ordered our drink and food, drink was extortionate priced. The food took a long time to come, we were ordering our second drinks by this time. They forgot to give us our side which we also forgot we'd ordered until later on, this was then removed from the bill when we said about it. My halloumi burger came burnt on one side so it tasted bad and my boyfriends burger was extremely pink on the inside which wasn't asked for. Poor selection of foods to choose from, not helped by corona, its a shame the website doesn't match the actual menu as we looked forward to some of the things on the online menu but as this wasn't updated we couldn't order what we wanted. Overall very expensive for what you get. Sad as reviews are good.
I really enjoyed the Lamb complements to the new Chef, great value for the whole meal.
First time visit. Covid secure. Happy with protocols in place. Food exceeded expectations so will happily visit again. It was a Tuesday lunchtime so very quiet so hard to rate ambiance. We were looked after very well.
We asked to be moved because at first we were not seated within the 2m covid guide lines,we were prepared to wait for another table to be cleaned. We had booked a table but still had to wait over 35 minutes before our meal was ready, service was slow but the food was good.
Our second visit to this venue for Sunday lunch. Although there had been a change of chef, the lunch was still very good. For me the amount served was more than adequate and I feel very good value for money. My friend’s Beef was a little rare for his liking but it was changed for the Sunday roast pork with no quibble. Would definitely recommend this venue if you want a Sunday off cooking.
Great tasting food.
Service was a tad slow but understandable as they were short staff and it was a busy Saturday night.
Drinks were pricier than expected and it would have be great if they showed the prices on a drinks menu - as it'stable service only.
Food excellent, service excellent, very nice ambiance.
All round brilliant meal. Service excellent, food wonderful.
It was a very quiet evening but staff were great and very apologetic about how quiet it was. Food was excellent and well presented. Would come again.
Booked because they were still offering the 50% discount in September. Really good value for money. Lovely food and generous portions. Staff were attentive.
Food, hygiene was great and service was outstanding. Can't recommend enough they were very accommodating.
Great place to eat and drink with family or friends, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch
Lovely evening. Weren't rushed to sit at our table so we could enjoy a drink first. Service was absolutely excellent, could not fault the lady allocated to our table. Food lovely as always. Good social distancing measures in place too.
Good food and good service. Low back ground music so can here your self think.
Service was shocking, was shown to a table then waited at least 30 minutes for our drinks order to be taken then waited a further 10 minutes for food order to be taken, could have understood if the place was busy but it wasnt
Friendly service at a reasonable price highly recommended.
We have eaten here once before and that was a much better experience in the restaurant downstairs with lovely decor and good service. We booked ahead but were seated upstairs which was really lacking in atmosphere and had tired decor. We were in a dark unused corner and had to ask for the lights to be turned. Service was slow and we had to ask to place our order as we seemed to have been forgotten. The food was nice but it was a real shame to have been put upstairs.
Food was lovely.
Staff were very slow. Waitress didn't know the difference between onion rings and calamari.
Not very covid friendly. No masks warn by staff and they were re using paper menus.
Went for dinner on a Monday evening. Food was lovely & staff were very polite & helpful.
Amazing steak! Great service and a great social distancing outside area!
Great meal and lovely polite staff, would come again and recommend to others!
Unfortunately we had to wait an long time for our meal. Although the staff were apologetic, even the chef came to our table.
It was a long while for food to be cooked and served, but very good meal and with the government 1/2 price was excellent value...I think this initiative has meant quiet times are now really busy and staffing not recruited for this initiative. Worth the wait and these comments are a sign of these strange times.
I was really looking forward to eating out at the mill bar, as it was my first time there! But unfortunately it wasn’t the best experience! We arrived 10 minutes early for our table, but was seated straight away, fantastic! We ordered our drinks and then we had to ask to order our meal, to be told that we would have to wait 20 minutes till we could order as there were 9 tickets already in the kitchen and only one chef! One chef on a Tuesday evening with the eat out scheme is terrible! We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food from the time we ordered and even then we had to ask how much longer it was going to be. We eventually got our food which was luke warm! Are table was situated by the doors where the food came out so I was fully aware of how long our food had been sat there, our food came out in drips and drabs, we had to ask for our sauces we had also ordered. We also witnessed one waitress clearing a table and then another seating people on that cleared table before it had been wiped! With the current global situation you certainly don’t expect to see that. I certainly won’t be rushing back there! they need more staff that’s for sure.
Amazing food! Highly recommended.
Will definitely visit again!
Food was nice but it took over an hour just to get our starters. Manager was very apologetic.
Great food - absolutely loved it. Service and atmosphere were nice as well. I only got problem with noodle dish - it was not clear that the dish is sweet and it did not occur to me to ask (I am quite sugar intolerant). I bet this dish is nice, but I cannot tolerate sweetness of fruits even. Camembert as a starter was divine, and I loved dish cakes I ordered later on! My boyfriend said the steak he got was exceptionally good.
Service was quite slow, although I would imagine that was due to the lack of staffing (from the pandemic). However the food more than made up for it and the waitress who served us couldn't have been more pleasant. Would visit again.
It was a lovely evening, good pint and food. Service was very good. Only this I would say is have table cloths as the table's were like old pub tables and did not match the quality and price of food.
Sorry...stifling hot, couldn’t wait to get out, temperature so high, didn’t seem to have any air con on, even set fire alarm off !!
fantastic food the best chicken kiev i have ever had, will be back for another one
Poor service and very slow
Food was fantastic as ever and it was lovely to see dairy free options on the menu so my husband actually had more of a choice, quieter than usual but that’s to be expected due to covid and the waitress was very pleasant and friendly
Very nice food. Chilled environment and great beer.
Absolutely fabulous! Felt very safe and meal was the best this is our favourite place to eat.
enjoyed ourselves especially sitting in the green house.
We have eaten here regularly and this was the first time following lockdown. As usual the food and service were very good but we would have felt more comfortable had the serving staff worn face coverings. We will watch what happens before going back.
New residents of Stowmarket and fancied a Sunday roast so booked online and took my husband and 2 year old daughter. Service was a little slow considering that there wasn't many people there but I really enjoyed the food, with the exception of the potatoes. They were rock hard. However we did mention this and the waitress brought us out some fresher ones. Good value and what we would call in London, a 'posh roast!' as they made their own gravy which was delicious. All in all I was very satisfied with it but my husband wasn't so keen as his beef was quite chewy.
