Our server was Becka and she is lovely. Made it a great experience. However, food not up to usual standard. Chips were cold and salt and pepper squid very poor and tiny portion - very expensive for what you got and poor quality. So food was disappointing and expensive for the poor standard.
Nice meal. Pleasant service. A couple of real drunk people spoilt the night a little by not following the rules
Expensive for drinks
Waited ages for a drink
Not complying with rules
Lovely friendly place always a fantastic atmosphere
Nice large gazebo, great atmosphere, good quick table service, has heaters, felt like normality is coming back, would recommend
Lovely food couldn’t fault it but would be much better if people dining were in one tent and drinking in another. We had 2 young children with us and the language from certain tables was inappropriate and very noisy. Service was pretty slow too.
Celebrating retirement and a significant birthday with a good friend. Had a fabulous time thanks 😊
Service was too long after ordering. Waitresses and waiters didn’t know how to find tables. Freezing in the tent. A horrible experience. But not their fault and it’s only because if the COVID and it was probably the best of a bad situation due to the requirements to be in a tent factored in with the freezing cold weather conditions. I won’t be going back again until at least restrictions are lifted and can eat and drink indoors.
Excellent service and super organised. Would highly recommend.
Food excellent and we were kept warm and dry . Staff friendly.Would strongly recommend.
Service was outstanding waitresses and waiters very very helpful!!!
Was cold but well worth the visit will definitely be visiting the Mill house again, thanks for giving us all a blanket!!!☘️☘️
The food was delicious, and there was agood choice of menu.
Beautiful place for food & drinks. The staff are lovely, ver polite & very accommodating and the food is outstanding. The chocolate orange cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had.
Food and service excellent. 1 table nearby was overly loud and explicit in language, which wasn’t appropriate considering we had a child with us. Other than that highly reccomended.
Was, cold, noisey, staff stood around talking however 1 girl who helped with my order going back was lovely and helpful but food was poor
We found the service very good the staff were very welcoming, it was rather cold where we were sitting but understand you have to have plenty of airflow so wrap up warm
Good food and well organised outdoor service. Heaters to keep the place warm, even when it was cold and wet outside.
We had a great couple hours and the staff we so friendly and helpful!
Over all had a great night, thanks
Great setup makingng the most of the situation. Sharp friendly service
Staff where very friendly and helpful.
Quick service and the food was amazing
Go atleast once a week best place for food around Durham.
Really nice and enjoyable
Nice food drinks a bit dear £2.20 pint of coke
Fantastic as always, Despite awful weather Sharon and her team made our visit thoroughly enjoyable. The food was beautiful as is the norm for the The Mill House and the cold outside temperatures were hardly even noticed in the marquee with an abundance of heaters to keep us warm.
I cannot fault our visit and despite all the challenges that Covid regulations and the weather caused, Sharon and her team were fantastic!
Absolutely love it here. Food and drinks are amazing especially the pornstar martinis which are just perfection! The manager Sharon is so lovely and they had a great singer on for entertainment last night. Cant wait to come back soon 😊
Great trip out despite trying circumstances in the rain.
The wait for the food took over an hour, this is not good especially when you have small children who are hungry.
The food when it arrived was good.
We arrived at 3pm for a 3.15pm booking and were made to stand in the torrential rain for 10mins b4 someone eventually bothered too approach us then we stood inside for a good 15mins because someone was sat at our table & they had too go move them which escalated very quickly into a slanging swearing & shouting match which was good for our young daughter to see & here eventually sat down too be told there was a hour wait for food we traveled 40 each way too get there and then the food arrived cold & wet from the rain very disappointed tbh….!!
Never experienced worse service or ruder staff. Went with my husband, my friends and our 4 year old children. We’re sat at a table with no heater, asked to be moved to the one right next to it ,which was empty, so the children could stay a bit warmer. Was told no you must sit at your allocated table. Asked if we could explain to the manager, he came over and said “listen, I tell you were to sit you don’t tell me either sit there or nowhere at all”. It was going to be an hour wait for food anyway so we left. There were others say being rained on who were told they couldn’t move either.
Booked a table a week in advance before arriving at the restaurant, turned up on time to be told that the wait for food was 1 hour and a half and we only had a 2 hour booking slot before we had to leave our table. So basically we had 30 minutes to eat our food if we were lucky enough for it to arrive within that time. I had my one year old daughter with us so this wasn’t ideal at all and we were so disappointed we had to return home and didn’t end up using the table we had booked and were looking forward to! Such a let down and very unorganised but felt very sorry for staff having to tell everyone this news as they arrived.
Very disappointed,no customer service staff and manager very rude, basically told if we didn't like it we could leave. There was up to an hour wait for food and then we were given our "ten minute warning" as they obviously needed the table back! We spent £155 as aparty of 6 and were treated appallingly. Will not be returning in a hurry
Staff were so rude, and the website was faulty. It said 3 hours booking slot, and they kicked us out after 2 hours in the pouring rain. If its a mistake on their website, they should have corrected it and told us prior to attending. Probably won't go back
Absolutely amazing. Drinks and food perfect. Pouring of rain so the tent was a welcome addition. The poor staff did outstanding. The abuse they received through not being able to allocate tables to people that wanted tables in certain places was dreadful. Bank Holiday dragging kids out in pouring rain and demanding dry floors and heaters is terrible. Hospitality is struggling enough. The millhouse has always been the best place locally for good and drink and I’ll be back.
Waiter / Waitress service at the table, so don’t need to use app for ordering. Toilet facilities are good.
Food took a while but excellent quality. Only downside for us was the gas heater ran out of gas, there was no replacement cylinder.
When we arrived 8 or 9 people walked past us and didn't even acknowledge that we were there.. given we were standing in the rain with 2 kids. Yes it's a pandemic and we appreciate it's a different style of dining but a simple hello someone will be with you soon would have been nice.
The lady who greeted us eventually, swore to another member of staff as they were under the impression someone left without paying. Our 2 young kids were with us.
We got seated and someone took our drinks quite quickly and then our food. We were told the pizza for my daughter may come out sooner and the pie a little later. 3 meals came out together and we had to ask where the bairns pizza was as it was over 20 mins late.. only when we asked how long it would be that it was brought out.. cold. I understand its covid and it was Bank Holiday but it could have been organised better. A smaller menu to choose from etc as we could hear the staff commenting that it was an hour wait on food and longer on desserts and they were 'telling people they couldn't order food'. It was just a little bit of a let down but the food however was lovely. Thanks carli
Waited 1 and a half hours for food what didn't arrive. Place was cold and damp next to no heat coming out of heaters place was packed new customers kept arriving but not much food coming from kitchen. We decided to leave as we were told food was at least another half an hour. We did get our drinks for free as way of an apology.
Worst pub in the area. Avoid at all costs. Staff serving are rude and break hygiene rules (feeding dogs letting them lick their hands then getting food from the kitchen no hand washing), £4.45 for a shandy (in a plastic cup), the food was 50 minutes wait and the pizza came half way through the meal. Only reason we went is due to the fact that the Engine Room was closed. The teenagers walking about texting and giggling don’t know the menu and in one instance wouldn’t let my 86 year old Grandmother sit by a heater because of the “rules”. The staff said they didn’t serve hot drinks... table next to us got a pot of tea. We had to inform the staff that they do in fact do hot drinks. After a while it was agreed. Go to the Engine Room. Food is better. Staff aren’t rude and the beer is actually good.
I was disappointed by the size of my child's macaroni and cheese. Firstly it was not macaroni, it was penne pasta. Secondly she had 12 tubes of plain pasta with grated cheese on, no sauce. This was not enough for a baby never mind a 9 year old. It was freezing cold with no heaters on. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes for our food we just wanted to leave. Not a good experience.
We booked for 12.30 and the place was really busy, we were show to our table straight away. We had the burger and chips and fish and chips and the food was lovely as always, all the serving staff are very young very polite and we'll manerd and nothing is a trouble my only gripe is the price of a glass of wine £6.85 is a little steep may be £5.00 is more reasonable.
Nice pizza great staff unfortunately we were sat next to three middle aged homophobics who spoilt our experience . Staff said they were a nightmare glad they left quickly as it spoilt our night .
No lemonade or moretti available, table service was poor and orders were completely wrong, quite simply shocking.
