The Milling Room

Thank you for making us feel safe while skipping on nothing. Our food was delicious, drinks very inventive, and the service impeccable. We celebrated our Anniversary, which was not only noticed but celebrated.

Great food and service. Our waiter tended to all of our needs and questions. Always had someone to clear off our table.

Lovely. Other than for my incredible company, the experience was defined by the deliciousness of the food. Everything was spot on... Including the Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa recommended by the Sommelier. He was passionate and knowledgeable... and he was right. A great experience overall. Will definitely come back, hopefully to be able to dine inside next time.

The Milling Room menu is consistently creative. They've done a terrific job adapting to the outside dining by creating a comfortable patio.

This was my second visit. I had been there once before the pandemic with a friend. This time, we ordered specials: shared a mushroom dish as appetizer which was good but too big even for two people as it was just mushrooms and nothing else. Main course was the cod that was fresh, with a skin that was browned and seasoned deliciously. But the Brussel sprouts as the only accompaniment were half cooked and not very good. When well done, they can be so delicious but in this case, they were chewy and not well seasoned, leaving the sense of an uncooked kale dish. The ambiance of the Mill Room is wonderful, even in Covid times, and the service was impeccable.

I wanted to take my husband out to dinner for his birthday, but was concerned about indoor dining. I thought of The Milling Room because we'd been there twice before (for his birthday 3 years ago and his son's graduation 2 years ago) and I remembered how spacious it was and figured it was a safe choice for COVID-time dining. They completely exceeded expectations. The tables were far apart, the staff stood back when speaking to us (always wearing a mask) and there were visible air purifiers throughout the space.

But even without the special precautions, The Milling Room is a beautiful space with great food and great service. Definitely one of my favorites on the Upper West Side.

We ate outside, there was some traffic noise but not overwhelming. One of us is a vegetarian and there were several options. We were pleased with everything, the kabocha squash soup was outstanding

Ambience and noise level were due to outdoor dining. Not the fault of the restaurant.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Beautiful and spacious interior, consistently good service, and excellent food at a reasonable price. I order the pork almost every time, and it’s always perfect.

This restaurant was stunning inside!! The menu and atmosphere were equally amazing. We ordered steak, scallops and cauliflower - everyone’s dishes were fantastic. I would absolutely go back!

Great outdoor dining set up. New additions to menu are delicious such as the branzino and beet salad. Waiter was excellent.

There are lots of good restaurants in the neighborhood, but objectively - and even for value - The Milling Room is the best. The food is over-the-top exceptional - I've been four times in the past three weeks and every time the food and service have been flawless. It's pretty easy to spend $25-$40 on an entree on the UWS, but it really feels worth it here. More than happy to keep going to keep a local gem in business.

The food and choice of wines by the glass were excellent.

So happy The Milling Room has reopened! It’s the only restaurant where we feel comfortable sitting indoors, with its soaring ceiling and spacious dining room. While they took every precaution and followed pandemic protocols - temperature checks, contact tracing information, masks required, etc. it was still a very relaxing experience. My two friends and I thought the food was as good as always, and the service was friendly and efficient. My yellowfin tuna appetizer was beautifully presented and delicious, and the scallops dish came with celtuce, a vegetable I’ve only eaten in Asia. My friends enjoyed their dishes as well. We made the right decision when we selected The Milling Room for our gathering - it’s a special place! (10/7/2020)

Excellent service from Tomas, our waiter. The food was out of this world and the wine recommendation was on point. The restaurant honored my dietary restrictions and the accommodations did not affect the quality or presentation of my entree. I would love to come back and dine indoors when the opportunity arises. The pics of the indoor space look fantastic. This was a wonderful experience with strict adherence to social distancing and mask-wearing by the staff.

The food is fantastic and the environment/ambiance is incredible - I think it's the most beautiful restaurant in the Upper West Side. Perfect date night in the neighborhood.

Pretty good. The service was excellent. My date showed up without a mask, so the restaurant supplied her with one. The wait staff was very attentive, friendly, and guided us through the food menu and the cocktail list, for us, very particular Foodies.

I may be just a little bit old fashioned, but when I order a steak I crazily expect a steak, not just two slices of meat. For $$38 bucks it's hard to find "value".

Very nice outdoor dining but Columbus Avenue can be noisy.
