The Sunday lunch was delicious
The vegetables was cooked to perfection the turkey was so succulent and tasty we will definitely be back
I would highly recommend the moody cow
Food was brilliant cooked to perfection definitely will be coming back again
Decided to try here at last minute as we were in the area with some time to kill. Chose from the a la carte menu. Had the brisket for main course which was melt in the mouth. Beautifully cooked and the truffle mash was lovely too. Wife had pizza which she thought was ok. Also had garlic mushrooms and chicken wings from the starter menu which were both tasty. Staff were friendly but the place lacks the ambiance you expect from a dining experience. We were in booth towards the front but the tables and chairs further back reminded me of a cafe. Would probably eat there again though as the food was generally very good.
Great meal for our 41st wedding anniversary (short notice) dinner
Really nice pub the food was fantastic and quick to arrive will definitely be coming again our waiter was brilliant thank you for a lovely lunch :)
Fantastic food and friendly staff great cocktails and never rushed
Food tasty and plentiful. Service a bit disjointed...had to ask for condiments. Wine on the expensive side.
Could do with a bit of decorating throughout.
Great menu with plenty of choice. Very good valuer for money.
Staff service was very good. We were seated in the conservatory and it was cold so the staff kindly moved is to a warmer area. The food was good but nothing special. My fault for having pizza and not a steak perhaps.
Lovely girls serving, great service! The steak, to say its a steak house/restaurant it was poor, not pleasant to eat or cooked to our liking. Because of this I wouldn't recommend, however can't fault the staff.
Starters were excellent. Burger was superb. Steaks a little overcooked. Blue cheese sauce was terrible. Great booth for us and good service except left to open our own bottle of wine!Would go again.
We were sat on a table in the corridor no ambience facing the food pass. it was a special birthday meal so we ordered the 8oz fillet steaks with sauces. one of the steaks was 4 times the thickness of the other (surely should be same) and the sauces were like water. My steak was requested medium came out rare and blood running out. sent back so husband eating on his own. came back exactly the same so ended up only eating fries. To be fair manager did knock mine off the bill but no free drinks, offer of a dessert and even tried to charge us a service charge after the awful experience. Never again.
Booked to go on Thursday night, got there and it has been closed. Why wasn’t I contacted about this so I didn’t have to drive all the way down just to go back home
Booked online 30 mins before arrival got there it was closed
How can you book same day when it’s not even open
Very quiet for a Friday evening, lacked atmosphere.
Restaurant prices, but lacked that feel, more of a pub/cafe.
However, the steak was fantastic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be returning soon. Not been for a while for obvious reasons but were very happy with the whole thing.
Beautiful food had a wrap off the lunch time menu, came with chips and salad, really good value for money.
Food was nice and staff very helpful & friendly. Few lights bulbs were out in gents toilet, table tops propped up against walls in corridor made it look a bit tired & neglected. However we went for nice food & good service and certainly got that.
Used to love the moody cow but won’t be back again, the food was absolutely vile and so so so expensive for something that looked like fortified meat. Not sure if there has been a change in chef but never coming again
Food nothing special, covered in oregano, soggy chips, wilted salad, gone off peppers.
Food and service was excellent, the overall feel and ambience was a little underwhelming though…however, it was well worth the money and we will be going again for sure!
Food was excellent and all staff were friendly and helpful.
Great food and service which we really enjoyed and would recommend
When we arrived there was a leak above where we were to be seated and the fabric seats were wet, the manager explained it was from the shower upstairs. As they were full there was no where else for us to sit, so we managed with an extra couple of chairs. They did offer to move us when space became available though. ,.The food was absolutely beautiful, we had Sunday lunch and a mixture of starters and desserts. We couldn’t fault the food at all. The service though was very slow, desserts took ages to arrive. Overall I would recommend though
Seated quickly and given menus It was obvious from the start they were short staffed but those serving and taking orders were working hard to try and minimise the wait Drinks took awhile and they forgot a bottle of water We choose the sharers grazer and nachos for starters and waited almost 45mins but they were hot and nicely presented delicious and worth the wait Main courses wild boar sausage and mash sea bass fillet steak and chicken fajitas again a bit of a wait but I sent compliments to the chef as the sea bass was delicious just one small criticism the fajitas lacked spice but we all enjoyed and said we would be back There is a note on the menu which warns customers that food is cooked fresh so may take awhile but maybe a small gesture of complimentary bread would take the edge off the wait All in all we enjoyed the experience
First visit after recommendation.
First impressions, nice bar area friendly and helpful staff.
Dining area, toilets in need of some TLC
Food . Partner and I had Sirloin Steaks just different sizes , cooked as recommended and very nice , chips very tasty and half a beef tomatoe with a nice flavour and a large mushroom 🍄
My partner had peppercorn sauce with hers and we think they forgot to put the peppercorns in and the Moody cow gravy was nothing special.
Partner had a Treacle tart for afters, this was a letdown, it was solid , very hard to break with spoon without it suddenly shooting off the plate. She was expecting it to be slightly warmed to soften the treacle .
Would we go again ..... possibly not .... 12 miles was a long drive for a " nothing special" steak meal
The food was ok but not worth the money. We all had steaks which were cooked well but lacked taste and the accompanying sauces were lack lustre. I thought I had been given the wrong sauce and had to tip it out to search for peppercorns because I couldn’t taste them!
Fantastic service - suprised my Dad for a birthday meal and was not disappointed. Great service & food was absolutely spot on.
Really tasty food. Steak was delicious.
The vegetarian choice was reasonable for one of the guests and what was chosen was tasty.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Very attentive waiter
Food was fresh and on time
Good experience will definitely come again!
Definitely not a steak restaurant as advertised, had to sen the wife’s back as was very tough, redid hers as she sat and watched me eat mine !!
I would liken it a weatherspoons..
we had no offer as in the way of discount/ drinks free. Also people on the table near us left their entire meal as was inedible.. we will definitely not be going to MC again. Very disappointed as this was for our anniversary
The food was lovely however the service was lacking. We didn’t get a check back on our food to make sure all ok and my partner was sat with an empty glass for 25 minutes and in the end, had to ask for another drink.
Although friendly, the staff could have been a little more attentive to all their customers not just select ones.
Loved it best meal I’ve had in a long time, we had 3 courses all were lovely
Lovely Sunday roast, the beef was so juicy and tender, the veg cooked well mash bit under seasoned. Staff very friendly and attentive. Surprised how quiet it was considering it was Sunday. Will be back again
The waiting staff were friendly. However bread board starter had olives missing which they sorted. We did not get main course until 80 mins after we arrived and eaitresscwhen asked forgot to bring the bill.
Absolutely spot on. Everything was great, cut & flavour of fillet steak A+, all sides great too.
lovely food and a pleasant atmosphere, the service was great too
Service was slow. Draught larger were all poor I had 3 pints changed before I had to choose a bottle of larger. Prawn starter was tasteless, nachos were ok but presentation was not good. Time in between courses was ok but drinks were low and we were not asked for a drinks order. Fillet steak was fine in taste but not a traditional cut, it was flat cut almost like a rump. Fries were good. Peppercorn sauce was runny and lacked taste. We didn’t have dessert. Time waiting for the bill and then again to pay was very long.
Came here for my fathers 60th birthday and the food was delicious. Staff were super friendly and always happy to accommodate. This isnt the first time I've been to the moody cow and it isnt going to be the last either.
The food was excellent and very good value for money the service was brilliant and the atmosphere was outstanding
