The Moody Mare
The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do.
This is exciting times for the pub which now has a new bar serving real ale straight from the cask. Be sure to check out the website regularly to keep up with the latest events and offers.

Lovely Sunday roast, and will definitely be back, a friendly warm and welcoming pub.
Super friendly staff make feel most welcome and great food. Very cosy pub definitely go again.
Good evening at the Moody Mare, staff are excellent and service was great even on this busy evening with functions going on, waiting time was spot on in between courses and the food was great.
Atmosphere here is brilliant and we'll definitely be booking again soon.
3rd time on s Sunday and run out of roast lamb, my partner had s burger which was cold. Was such a shame as been coming here a few years now
Good menu choice...food hot and great service.would go back and recommend.
Great country pub, very homely and staff also very attentive - will definitely be back
Great service by the young team and food was excellent and good value
Food was fine, service was good, will probably eat here again if I'm in the are.
Food was outstanding! We treated my elderly mum and she absolutely loved her melt-in-the-mouth fillet steak!! Our meals were also faultless. Would love to bring mum back but alas the access, steps etc is really unsuitable for those with mobility restrictions. Otherwise no complaints.
A very enjoyable experience and will continue to be high up on the list for future dining.
Great cosy eating pub with restaurant food and seating.
It was lovely.
Second year we have been here for a work Christmas meal. Food was fantastic, service was great, there was even some entertainment on. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be going again
Having booked a table we were shoved in a dark corner, the table had a reserve notice on it but was not laid up and it wasn't until we got our food we had to ask for utensils. My husbands fish was okay but the roasts we had, lamb was tough, veg almost raw and whole meal was only just luke warm. The desserts were very good. Coffee turned up cold sent back and given new but not the original order of decaffeinated . It was very busy but to be honest we felt more like an inconvenience. We were given 20% off our bill.
Warm and welcoming
food was good, slightly small portion, Yorkshire overcooked. we sat in the comfy chairs by the step to the rear. surprised the amount of people that trip up or down just whilst we had our meal. a small warning strip would be good for elderly people to see to prevent a fall. after all that we will come back for another meal. thank you
Lovely ambiance but the downside was the 40minute wait for the main meal.
Very friendly service and good atmosphere. Not fancy fancy but good honest grub which was tasty and well cooked. Some of our choices were not available but there were good alternatives
Loads of parking
This is a lovely place for lunch. Service was very good, but maybe not as friendly as usual.
It was a very crowded but had no problem having booked a table.
The service was really good I did not feel rushed and plenty of time between course's.
The food was excellent.
Girlie birthday lunch, food and service was excellent as usual
When we came some months ago we enjoyed what we had and didn't feel it was expensive. This time we felt it was poor value and service very slow. Although I ordered steak and ale pie I actually received steak & kidney, not great. 3 very mediocre sausages which had tough skins which the knife wouldn't cut cleanly, making the sausage meat spew out of the skin. My husband left a lot of skin on the side of the plate.
Super venue, relaxing and very welcoming. Food and service both excellent. I will definitely be booking again soon.
I went with a group of friends on a Friday night. There was live music. The music wasn't so loud we couldn't have a conversation. We had a lovely evening. The food and service was great.
Food was very tasty, with good, not huge, portion sizes. Service was polite, attentive and pleasant.
Great value for money, the meals are delicious and god sizes, you never leave feeling hungry. Staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. A lovely place to go
The food was sub standard, whole plaice had been over trimmed leaving g very little fish on the bone. Steaks contained excessive quantity of gristle. One of the steaks was replaced and the replacement was just as bad. The staff did not comment or show concern with amount of gristle left on plates.
Great steak, great service!
All I can say is it’s a must for everyone to try
Lovely old world traditional pub feel but beautifully done, lovely ambience and absolutely excellent service, which could not be faulted at all. It did get rather warm as it was fully booked and the windows don't seem to open which was a bit of a shame. The baked camembert to share was amazing and very good value, and the squid with aoli and fishcakes were all fabulous. The only downside with the mains was that although the steaks were huge and very tasty (they are dry-aged), both the sirloin and t-bone steaks were really quite fatty so there was a lot of wastage. It was great to get a good crumble for dessert and even better that it was served traditionally with custard and the cheesecake was very flavoursome. There were a good selection of reasonably priced wines either by the bottle or glass. As mentioned above the service was outstanding despite it being very busy and nothing was too much trouble.
We had an excellent evening, the service staff were attentive and the food was delicious and served hot with just the right waiting time between courses. Alison David is a credit to the Moody Mare. Her singing and choice of songs were most enjoyable, a great night! We will definitely visit again and try another music night.
This is a good clean wholesome lunch destination. The food was hot and well presented and the service were friendly and attentive
Nice atmosphere very friendly staff who looked after us very well , a tad expensive though compared to other similar venues in the local area
The steaks were amazing... and good value. Will come back again ... and for the Gf crème brûlée too
We had a lovely meal at this pub. The staff were amazing and friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. We had a lovely family meal and all enjoyed our food. We will be back.
Loved the food, staff and the fantastic venue!!
Wedding in the adjacent hall made parking difficult had to wait for other guests to leave.
A great venue for a meal out with friends , we had an added bonus of live music which was great. Overall a great evening had by all
Fantastic place, very friendly great atmosphere good food
Good as always just lacking in gravy this time and service not as spot on a usually is!
Another lovely Sunday meal with great variety on the menu.
