The Mumbai Mansion presents contemporary Indian cuisine influenced by the age-old cooking techniques, an appreciation of the subtle spices and French flavours. Our cooking methods include the core Indian grilling styles of Tandoor (intense charcoal fire based clay oven), Tawa (sizzling and sautéing on a hot plate) and Sigri (cooking stove).Diners will be able to taste the variety of cocktails for an after work chill out. The highly trained team will be happy to make a suggestion of wine which has been chosen by the sommelier dedicated to cater all of your wine desires and food matching. The Mumbai Mansion prevalence is to revolutionise the way Indian cooking is perceived and continue to go above and beyond.
This was our first evening meal at this restaurant but it is a hidden jem. Besides the veg and chicken pakora being great the butter chicken we both had is excellent. I can not recommend enough to try this dish you will not be disappointed
I met a colleague for a meal having found this restaurant on Google Maps. The service was fantastic and the menu was creative to say the least. An Indian spin on Gressingham Duck? Fantastic; and a breath of fresh air. Thoroughly recommend it to all!
Fantastic food, great surroundings and excellent staff. Highly recommended.
Superb meal with great welcoming service . The food was particularly gorgeous d with adequate sized portions
Food was was fantastic and the staff were friendly and informative. The dipping sauce that was served with pakora starters was amazing. Loved it. Fran Barclay
lovely food, great variety all reasonably priced. Lovely staff. Would recommend
Service was... interesting. We would order, the waiter would suggest something else. It happened with three of us. I understand making recommendations, but the customer shouldn't have to defend their choice... we wanted everything to arrive together because we were booked VIP at another venue. Again, we had to defend the right to do so. Some people didn't get their orders. Another waited til the rest of us were a third of the way through before she received hers. Then to be sent an email from opentable saying we hadn't made our booking was... unexpected.
I would recommend the lamb chops. Also the tarka daal -this has a good deal of luck which I loved. But not for the faint hearted. Lovely flavour
Seven of us went for dinner last Monday evening. Service was excellent (there when you wanted them), great advice on the food (we had the mixed platters) and the food was extremely tasty...a wide variety with something for everyone.
I'll definitely be back!!
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was overpriced, the food was awful, and the waiters obviously wanted us out for a second sitting.
Nicely cooked food, just a bit lacking in flavour and
Great post rugby (Scotland V France) meal with mates. Easy venue to find (near Haymarket). Simple menu, good curry and good beer.
We were a group of 8 having a dinner for my mum's 61st birthday. The staff were very helpful and the food was really tasty and full of flavour. The staff also brought out a cake for my mum without us even asking which was a really nice touch! Definitely recommend for good quality Indian food.
Clean & smart restaurant. 5 min walk from Haymarket station. Service was polite & quick, although we were never rushed. Food was delicious (Garlic Chilli Lamb), spicy but not overpowering. Accompanying chapati's were nice. Restaurant was quite empty when we ate, so ambience was a bit quiet. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent service great food we all enjoyed - Nan bread was great
Food was very good and a nice touch to give us a couple of desserts to share between us as a Xmas treat.
The Rugby special menu was communicated in advance and the food was tasty and enjoyed by the group.
It was very chaotic due to the rugby international crowd hitting the west end after the match with queues forming at the door.
While our orders were taken reasonably quickly, our starters were forgotten but delivered fairly quickly after we highlighted the issue.
It was obvious that there was pressure to turn over tables to other diners and our tables were being moved and reset before our group even had our jackets on to leave.
This spoiled the overall experience a bit but the food, as always, hit the mark.
Spectacular and great service on a Friday night. Would recommend.
Average curry. Decent service.
Me and my wife came here for our first night in Edinburgh. We are big lovers of Indian style cuisine. I will say this is hands down the best curry we have ever tasted, it was beautifully cooked from the sauce to the tenderness of the meats. The service was excellent as they made sure we never had to ask for drinks and also made sure was was enjoying what we was eating. The place itself is lovely and the seating and decor was great. Nice friendly atmosphere and was happy with the prices too. When we come back to Edinburgh we will most definitely be visiting Mumbai mansion again.
First time our Curry Club group have been to MM. Food was excellent and we'll be back again soon. Well worth a visit.
The food is excellent, but we were harassed from the phone call earlier in the day to virtually being pushed out soon after 11pm, just over an hour after our booking time, and made to feel unwelcome. No offer of dessert or coffee! If you can't serve people comfortably, without rushing them, than you should never take a booking for 10pm. Such a shame as it's original and very well cooked Indian food.
It was a great place for a get together, spacious and we could hear each other talk. Great service. The food was very good. I had the monkfish which was excellent. Most dishes were heavy on the sauce and seemed quite similar to each other but it was fresh and tasted good. I would recommend Mumbai mansion.
Perfect evening with the family. Busy place but quick and efficient service. Very good indian food fom mild to spicy
Visited for the 3rd time and it was as good, if not better, than our last visit last year. If we lived locally it would be our favourite Indian restaurant.
Vale la pena alejarse del centro para probar la deliciosa comida del lugar. El servicio es bueno y el lugar acogedor.
The staff didn't seem that happy to work here. They were a little on the rude side. Otherwise it was "ok".
We enjoyed the monk fish curry and the different starters.
Delicious food, beautifully presented. A bit disappointed that they had run out of my first starter choice and there was a bit of a wait for the main (due to tandoor cooking times).
Family get together
Extremely friendly service, nothing too much trouble. The sea bass starter was the best starter I have ever had in an Indian restaurant.. followed by a delicious prawn malabar. Generous portions meant no room for dessert but we were treated to a complimentary sticky ginger sponge-amazing!
Excellent food, friendly knowledgable staff to deal with any queries regarding the meals being served, highly recommended.
Best Indian In Edinburgh by far, we have dinned in 100s of Indians and for us this one is the best by far. Manager great guy also.
Food is amazing. Staff went above and beyond to help us in anything we needed. We even got to sample desserts complimentary that we're going to be added to the menu, sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake! The manager was so lovely and came over to chat to us on two occasions. I had the monkfish curry which I would thoroughly recommend. Extremely good portion sizes too! Worked out at just under £25 a head with alcoholic drinks and side dishes too which is excellent for the quality of food. Would definitely return and would recommend to anyone visiting or local to Edinburgh.
Despite it being busy after-match (Scotland V Italy) evening, the guys at MM were very welcoming, accommodating and in good form.
It was a set post-match menu, with enough options to satisfy my gang of 8.
My second visit here and on both occasion it's been a great experience and the food has been superb.
Lovely meal, lively atmosphere, good wine. Had a lovely evening here and free taster dessert
Food was great. Went on a Friday night, and very crowded. Service was extremely slow, but the wait was worth it. For awhile I thought they forget about me, since I was a single diner but then my waiter realized my food was not coming up, and apologized. Soon afterwards food arrived.
Food was good but service was absolutely dire. We was left with our finished dinner plates in front of us for over 20mins. I had to go to the bar to get service. The manager was very apologetic and gave us some drinks on the house.
Great food and excellent service I would definitely recommend a visit for any occasion
Very good Indian food. Proper nan bread, in my experience just as it is in India. Delicious Goan lamb curry. Busy, but spacious venue means quite easy to reserve a table on a Saturday night. First visit. Live locally, will definitely return.
Our first visit and we will be back. The food was amazing and there was a real buzz about the place.
