The Mumbai Mansion Ratings and Reviews
Me and my wife came here for our first night in Edinburgh. We are big lovers of Indian style cuisine. I will say this is hands down the best curry we have ever tasted, it was beautifully cooked from the sauce to the tenderness of the meats. The service was excellent as they made sure we never had to ask for drinks and also made sure was was enjoying what we was eating. The place itself is lovely and the seating and decor was great. Nice friendly atmosphere and was happy with the prices too. When we come back to Edinburgh we will most definitely be visiting Mumbai mansion again.
Extremely friendly service, nothing too much trouble. The sea bass starter was the best starter I have ever had in an Indian restaurant.. followed by a delicious prawn malabar. Generous portions meant no room for dessert but we were treated to a complimentary sticky ginger sponge-amazing!
Food is amazing. Staff went above and beyond to help us in anything we needed. We even got to sample desserts complimentary that we're going to be added to the menu, sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake! The manager was so lovely and came over to chat to us on two occasions. I had the monkfish curry which I would thoroughly recommend. Extremely good portion sizes too! Worked out at just under £25 a head with alcoholic drinks and side dishes too which is excellent for the quality of food. Would definitely return and would recommend to anyone visiting or local to Edinburgh.
Food was great. Went on a Friday night, and very crowded. Service was extremely slow, but the wait was worth it. For awhile I thought they forget about me, since I was a single diner but then my waiter realized my food was not coming up, and apologized. Soon afterwards food arrived.
Really enjoyed our visit and would like to return to try more of the menu. Waiting staff were friendly and fun and the food was fresh and very tasty. I had the monkfish and it was really delicious. I was impressed with the wine menu and there was a good choice of deserts too. Will definitely recommend to friends.
The Mumbai Mansion is a few rungs up the ladder from your typical Indian restaurant. Lovely and spotlessly clean surroundings. Friendly and respectful waiters. A very inventive and unique menu and marvelous food in adequate portions. Yes, it's a wee bit more expensive but well worth it. I highly recommend eating here and will be back at the first opportunity.
Coming from Indian origin my taste of choice will be aroma and taste of food that I chose to eat. Personally I have had near-disaster experience with Indian restaurants in the United Kingdom, so I always keep my taste emotions in control without having any expectations. Being a vegetarian the choice is limited unlike the non-veg varieties(?).
The occasion I have chosen to dine at the Mumbai Mansion was special (valentines) and time of the date. The ambiance and reception at this restaurant was good with a friendly gesture from the staff. Also slated few choices of what we can choose to drink. Overall we had a good meal and time at The Mumbai Mansion which is highly recommended for anyone would like to delve into rich, aromatic and tasty Indian food.
Go for it, you will not be disappointed.
We booked the Mumbai Mansions for Valentines Evening 2016. We had never been to the Mumbai Mansions before. We enjoyed an amazing variety of starters, mains and a wonderful desert with a complimentary glass of proseco to start with. Each starter crab, chicken and lamb were presented beautifully and mouth watering. The main dishes were a seafood dish of monk fish, prawns and mussells in a mouth watering sauce and a chicken curry served with fragrant rice and naan. The desert was an edible basket containing 3 deserts. Altogether a gastronomic delight. The staff were polite and attentive and made us feel very welcome.
Went on a Friday evening for my birthday with my wife and two friends.
The guy who served us wa attentive , Friendly and very funny.
Menu was excellent we all had starters Sea bass, Monkfish, Prawns and tandoori mushrooms.
All were great although the Monkfish was the star, followed closely by the Sea Bass and Mushrooms.
We then had 4 separate curries ,Chilli Garlic Lamb, butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and a Chicken Khorai , two rice and two naans.
I even got a cake to the table, deserts we did not attempts as we were to full, but it is well worth a look some things on there you wouldn't normally see in an indian restuarant.
copious amounts of cobra and gin and tonics all for £140.
This may look expensive but the alcohol accounted for a third of bill.
This is not your standard curry house menu and i can only say if i lived in Edinburgh it would be my Friday night out every Friday.
Indian restaurant with a difference. Excellent food - delicious and well presented. Professional and attentive service. It was our 10th anniversary and we even got a little complimentary "Happy Anniversary" desert. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back.
Had the taster menu, every course was brilliant. Highlights for me were the scallops with mussels, the lobster and the desserts. Exceptionally talented head chef Pramod and great hospitality from the restaurant manager Merwyn. Great value for such a high standard of food. Highly recommended and will definitely be back! Thanks for a great evening
It was a great place for a get together, spacious and we could hear each other talk. Great service. The food was very good. I had the monkfish which was excellent. Most dishes were heavy on the sauce and seemed quite similar to each other but it was fresh and tasted good. I would recommend Mumbai mansion.
Despite it being busy after-match (Scotland V Italy) evening, the guys at MM were very welcoming, accommodating and in good form.
It was a set post-match menu, with enough options to satisfy my gang of 8.
My second visit here and on both occasion it's been a great experience and the food has been superb.
Food was flavorful. The best dishes we had were the lambjelfrizi and the chicken Bhutan. Of note the pilau rice was aromatic and delicate. Naan was well prepared and the leafy salad with citrus dressing was a sizable portion. Service ok.....had to work hard to get our check so we could pay.
