The Northey Arms
Fantastic food excellent service even better
Fantastic food, very accommodating, our server was so lovely. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Perfect for a special occasion. We will be back!
We have not visited for a while as our last experience was not particularly positive however on this occassion ..........We were warmly welcomed, all staff were friendly and attentive throughout our evening and the food was absolutely delicious. There is a large car park if driving but also on a bus route with the stop conveniently just outside.
The quality of our evening was definitely value for money.
We will be returning very soon.
Booked due to the hotel's very good price for a visit with elderly relatives in Bath, the hotel restaurant was excellent. The food was excellent, if a little 'constructed', but we all had more than enough to eat. We didn't use he wine list, but the house wine was well received. I can thoroughly recommend the 6X draught ale. The price was very reasonable, and the service was friendly, attentive, but at the same time, unobtrusive.
The next time we are travelling to Bath, we will ensure we eat here when we stay at the hotel.
Good food, good service and reasonably priced. Well worth it.
My wife and I enjoyed a meal at the Northey Arms last Saturday with friends over from Germany. The menu didn't have a huge range of choices but the food was fine.
Nice food even though Brioche buns were slightly burnt. Do feel it is a bit expensive for what you get compared to other pubs. Also had to ask about offers advertised on line, nothing advertised in the Northey Arms. We were just given the main menu, not advised of offers or specials. If we hadn't seen it on line when booking we wouldn't have known that the do special offers on certain nights.
However I would return as I like the atmosphere and staff are friendly.
The food was good and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. The door bell the kitchen use is annoying and waiting staff did not know the specials and when they found them out they still weren’t 100% about it.
I would recommend it but can say the service and timings on food wasn’t great. We were left waiting to order and then also waiting for our food for so long we had to get snacks from the bar. Free drinks were offered to make up. We did want dessert but didn’t order as worried it would take a long time. Food was delicious, some wait staff very apologetic but you could see they were stressed as other tables also left waiting.
A lovely pub serving great food and very friendly staff.
excellent all round food service décor, super evening out would recommend
We had a table for 2 for our anniversary but being a Monday evening, the restaurant was very quiet. We had a complimentary glass of bubbles each which was a lovely gesture and were very impressed by the attentiveness of the waiting staff. The food was excellent, fabulous presentation and extremely tasty. Can highly recommend the chocolate brownie with peanut butter mousse! Would definitely recommend and we will be back. Many thanks.
I’ve eaten at The Northey several times recently and the food has been brilliant. Very impressed.
The food tasted lovely but the appearance was very 'brown' - especially the dessert - and could have done with some color to liven it up
Staff were helpful and friendly and we enjoyed ourselves
Very long wait to order drinks, food lukewarm, wrong steaks delivered to wrong customer resulting in sending food back, had to wait forever for steak to be returned which came back with items missing and added chips which should have been dauphininoise - prawns stone cold. 2 members of party suffered upset stomach the next day, both had prawn starter - only customers left in restaurant and had to still wait a long time to order desserts. Food very overpriced for meals we received. I've been 3 times before and service and food was good - wouldn't go again.
Staff very pleasant and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Food was plentiful and delicious and ambiance perfect
Friendly waitress and delicious food which was good value. Slight wait but understandable as very busy.
Made online booking but it was not relayed to The Northey however they managed to fit us in.
Food was good, but only drawback was that we were sitting next to the kitchen! Constant tooing and froing and ringing of the bell!
We all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Both the sirloin of beef and the pork belly was cooked to perfection and the wine was great. The food arrived in good time and was served with a smile so what more can you ask for? 10/10 as always.
A lovely evening meal in a lovely pub. You often need to book to guarantee a table.
Excellent food and service and dog friendly too. The desert was amazing not to be missed.
We enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The steaks were lovely and perfectly cooked. I would have given them five stars overall apart from the fact that they got part of our order wrong three times, although, to be fair they did put their mistakes right quickly when we told them about it. Would visit here again if I was in the Bath area.
We had a relaxing and enjoyable evening with good food and good surroundings.
Lovely meal for my Mum’s birthday - she enjoyed it very much, thank you.
We had a great family lunch the staff were excellent , service was great.
The only downfall was the price of the salt and pepper squid, it very expensive for only 5 pieces of slim squid !!
The food here is absolutely amazing! The staff are a young team and are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble, we have a baby, a young Son and a dog. Cannot recommend enough!
Busy but quiet restaurant with great service. For the prices charged, I would expect the food to be slightly better, but overall very good. I am gluten and lactose intolerant, and they catered for my requirements very well.
Service and atmosphere was perfect absolutely fantastic tasting food couldn’t fault it one bit will definitely be returning
Very enjoyable and delicious lunch with friends visiting from Australia. Intrigued with the Northey Arms pub sign - what is the significance of the soldiers depicted on the sign? Would love to find out. Cheers Rosie
Great food, presentation and service. Will be back again next week
Very enjoyable experience enjoyed by all 10 of us.
Third time I have been now, food consistently delicious. Service better this time, but still could improve a bit- would be nice to feel staff enjoy the work and a few smiles.
We had two great meals in a row. The food was outstanding, the staff were polite & the service was great. Highly recommend it.
The Sunday roast was very good the only complaint is that it was huge ,so next time a child’s portion for me
The food was absolutely delicious, can not fault it. Packed with flavour, and looked amazing. Pub very busy and noisy when arrived, but realised it was towards end of happy hour on a Friday early pm, so headed outside for a bit, calmed down after 6.30/7pm. Our order and drinks were taken, but then service became a bit more hap-hazard, had to ask for dessert menu and for coffees, no opportunity to ask for extra drinks, no- one came over. They did come over once during the mains, to check how everything was, but that was the only occassion. I don’t know if it was because we had a voucher that we were given less treatment, but we did want to order additional items. We did notice other tables had to ask for menu etc too. Perhaps a one off? It wouldn’t stop us going again, as food really very good standard indeed
Personale gentile, location ottima per visitare Bath, ambiente pulito e confortevole, grande parcheggio.
Cosa chiedere di più?
The answer to 'would I recommend the Northey Arms to a friend?' was really maybe not yes. It would depend on what they were looking for, if it was just a drink in nice surroundings then yes but if they wanted a recommendation for food, it would be no. The food itself was cooked and presented really well but the portion sizes really, really let it down starting with the scallop starter which consisted of only 3 tiny scallops on a massive plate! Pork belly unfortunately was the only item that was over cooked, sides had to be ordered to bulk up some of the choices. The only substantial meal we were served was the Burger, the cod and chips ordered by another table looked good but unfortunately that was not one of our choices! Calves liver was also good but definitely needed more vegetables... Nouveau cuisine or art attack was what we got on our plates. Glad we had vouchers as we would not have stayed when we saw the portion sizes it was not value for money at all. It's a shame as the place is lovely and brilliant staff, very friendly and attentive.
My friends and I always enjoy dining at the Northey Arms - do think it is time for some new choices to be added to the Menu. But overall it is a very pleasant experience.
Enjoyed a really lovely Sunday Lunch, whilst I ordered the Beef which was exceptional, my guests ordered from the "a la carte" menu, which I know on a Sunday lunch would've been a little trying, however all meals were exceptional and everyone enjoyed their meals. The service seemed a little slow, perhaps undermanned on this occasion, normally we have amazing service which is equally as exceptional as the food.
A great venue on the outskirts of Box. Upon arrival the team at the bar were very friendly and courteous. We had 2 kids with us and we made use of the outdoor space pre-dinner to occupy them and dined inside. The restaurant décor was lovely and homely, good vibe around the bar with the locals in enjoying a pint.
The food was mostly good with the exception of the Ribeye. The kids portions were huge and the share platter was very enjoyable. The steak unfortunately was not so great, not sure if it was just a one off cut that we had got. However overall a nice visit and would return.
The service team are great!
Lovely Sunday lunch sitting in the bar area. Very comfortable surroundings and the staff are lovely. Busy in the main restaurant but service was very good and the food as delicious as ever.
