The Northumberland Arms
Another enjoyable family visit to the Northumberland Arms. My elderly parents love it as much as the rest of us do. Staff and food are lovely. Our favourite Sunday lunch 😊
Ages since we were last at the Northumberland Arms. Massive changes for the better. We had a slight problem with the wine we ordered. Dealt with perfectly. We will return
Unfortunately not great service. Food wasn’t great bits were forgotten and had to be cooked after receiving food. No steak knifes brought with food which is just basic..
No apology just didn’t feel like we weren’t valued as customers. They didn’t seem to care the experience wasn’t great.
The service wasn't so good on the Sunday night as the previous two nights.
Lovely food, atmosphere and staff. Great variety on the menu.
Very nice food, very friendly staff and nice country pub. Worth a visit
Sunday roast, really lovely food, staff very helpful, nice relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Great tasty Sunday lunch, everything was cooked to perfection. Waited too long for someone to take drinks order, so I had to ask the girl if she could take it. Would definitely return.
We had a great time. The setting, food and service were was first class and there is no doubt we will return, sooner rather than later
We had heard this place was a bit hit and miss and to go for the "Express" early evening menu for our first visit rather than the higher priced a la carte menu.
We experienced extreme reluctance to offer us the early evening menu although that offer ended at 7pm and we arrived at 6.30. Staff at first saying the early menu was 'finished'. Starters were OK. My husbands main course burger was overdone and tasteless however and my rump steak had to be sent back to the kitchen twice, as I had requested a medium steak and it arrived rare. When it came back from the kitchen, it was still rare, having just been kept warm while they cooked me fresh chips! It went back again and I was told the chef was cooking me a fresh steak. However, my husband had long finished his meal, I'd had enough of the farcical tooing and froing which had taken around 20 minutes and just wanted to leave. The staff told me the cost of the steak would be removed from the bill and it was.
I was still hungry however so we ordered dessert. What could go wrong? Well we realised when the bill arrived that we'd only been given the full price a la carte menu to choose desserts from instead of the early evening menu we'd chosen our starters and mains from and - at around 6.50/6.95 a pudding - , these were over twice the cost of the early bird menu choices. My husbands sticky toffee pudding was dense and on the heavy side, my lemon posset tasty but not worth the exorbitant price. We should have queried the bill, but I'd had enough. Would never return.
Really good Sunday roast....best we've had in a long time! Service was a bit slow though.
Service could have been more attentive. We all enjoyed the food & ambience & will come back
Customer service impeccable
Food second to non
Only downside for us - dogs at a dinner table ......although well behaved is s no no in our world
We would have to be moved if sat next to us and we have a dog
We booked a table for 10 people for my husbands 50th Birthday and had a private dining area which was lovely. Food was excellent, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Service was very good, friendly staff. Overall I would thoroughly recommend The Northumberland Arms
I was expecting high end pub grub, instead what we ate would not have been out of place had we had it at a top restaurant at a double the price.
Good food at fair prices in a popular restaurant. The dining area was a bit too warm but that us easily corrected.
Everything was lovely though at times the service was very slow. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and our table was not quite ready . Everyone in the bar made it difficult for the waiting staff to get through with food however once we were seated away from the bar everything ran more smoothly. Food choice was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we had ordered . The food was excellent overall and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening .
After a lovely friendly welcome we enjoyed a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Thanks so much to all the team!
Service was very slow and it was not that busy food arrived after 45 minutes of ordering most of it was cold but tasted nice only one staff member in the restaurant a lot of tables complaining about there meal being poor quality (beef being tough) so we avoided the beef
My husband I visited for Sunday lunch and also to celebrate my birthday. Everything was perfect. I requested new potatoes, rather than duck fat roasted ones as I really don't like duck fat, I'm also conscious of keeping a healthy weight. My request was given and the roast beef dinner was delicious. As a treat we both chose treacle sponge pudding for dessert, very naughty but nice!
We were made very welcome and comfortable by the staff and we're pleased not to be rushed from our table as you sometimes are in other restaurants.
Very pleased, we have been previously but not for about 4 years!
We look forward to returning soon.
Fantastic food, relaxing and friendly atmosphere. We were able to bring our dogs with us as well which was great as we were staying at a cottage in the village. Highly recommended
The early bird menu is excellent value, and the choice is changed regularly. The staff are pleasant and efficient.
From the second we arrived until the second we left the customer service was superb. Courteous cheery staff pampered to our every whim.
All 3 courses were sublime and wonderfully presented on their respective plates/dishes. Food good enough to eat and savour.
The Cook n Barker owners could learn a lot by eating here!
Food when it came was very good. However 3 of us had the hake dish which should have included Shetland mussels, according to the menu. No mussels, which was a disappointment to the 3 of us who originate from Shetland.
Fortunately we weren't in a hurry as the service was very slow. The waitress did apologise for this. Guessing the kitchen was short staffed that night.
Good food, great location and friendly service.
We return to the Northumberland Arms every time we visit Northumberland. We have always had a delicious meal with friendly staff, good service and lovely surroundings and also dog friendly. Thank you.
Have visited several times over the past few years and the standards have never dropped. Always a friendly and efficient service and the food quality and cooking is excellent. We'll worth our longctrip to get here.
Really lovely place. Delicious food, and friendly service. Seafood platter was lovely and they even gave a treat and some water to our dog. Would definitely go back.
Service let down the very good food. Ordered bread and olives from the menu then told there were no olives. Waitress surprised to be asked for a plate to eat the bread off. Needs to be a restaurant manager to oversee the dining room but short-staffed, no doubt to save money as too many restaurants do.
The food as always was excellent and the early bird menu was outstanding value.
Sunday lunch here was fantastic. Food and service are great and very good value for money. First of many I'm sure.
Excellent service. Lovely breakfast. Worth the drive
We visited whilst on holiday in August, we have been to this restaurant before and had enjoyed our meal. To be honest it felt really snooty and extremely overpriced... The steak I ordered (rare) was cooked rare however was extremely chewy that 3/4 of it was inedible. It came with a small pot of chips, a small mushroom and tomato and a pot of apparently blue cheese sauce.... I mentioned to the waitress that the steak was inedible.... her reply was what would you like me to do.... Not particularly great customer service.... I thought they would've replaced the steak in the end I just had the chips and sauce... they did remove the steak from the bill but not the blue cheese sauce... To be honest I've bought better steaks at Aldi costing me less than 3 pounds.... a very disappointing end to our holiday in Northumberland...
Good quality food and low prices (steak night!)
A great find on a wet Sunday afternoon, food was absolutely delicious and the service was great, would highly recommend this place
We all enjoyed our meal very much and the service was very good. Only disappointment was one of the three scoops of homemade sorbet. The strawberry was ice cream, not sorbet , and it did not taste homemade.
The Falafel were absolutely delicious.
Had a great meal on Weds, was a new menu but everything was delicious, thoroughly recommend.
Visiting family and wanted a good Sunday Lunch......we weren't disappointed!!
Great food well served a very enjoyable and relaxed meal.
Excellent place, fantastic food staff can’t do enough for you
Very highly reccomended
