About

The Norway Inn has a great reputation for good food and is especially renowned for its award-winning carvery. We use fresh, local seasonal ingredients with our Head Chef, Tom Milby, sourcing as much meat, fish and vegetables from the local area as he can.
As you would expect in this area we serve a wide range of fresh fish, and Tom is keen to keep the ‘Specials board’ changing regularly ensuring plenty of variety for all our new and regular customers.
Please note Dogs are allowed in the Bar area, so if you are bringing your Pet please advise us on the Notes so we can allocate you a table in the Bar area.

We had passed the Inn a few times and it looked like a lovely place. As it was our last night in Cornwall, we decided to have a meal out. I booked us on this app, which was so easy and when we arrived there was a wonderful corner table with freshly plumped up cushions! The menu options were brilliant, I opted for the Ham Hock Terrine to start and the Norway Burger for a main. My wife had originally chosen the soup, but as the menu option changed it was unsuitable. The Restaurant Manger, who I must say was attentive and extremely well organised as well as a genuinely nice man, quickly organised a replacement in the form of a Scotch Egg starter. For a main, my wife had Fishcakes. I was lucky enough to try both these and they were amazing, as my own choices. The Beer, being a St Austel Brewery pub, was Tribute in fine fettle! We had deserts, me a cheese board of Cornish cheeses, and my wife had the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which she assured me was magnificent. It was as the perfect place to end our holiday and I can not recommend it enough.

Both my husband and I had wanted to eat here and as we were down that way we booked a table.
The staff were welcoming, the table was poorly lit it was difficult to read the menu.
We chose our food, and did not have to wait long for our starters , I chose the Goan mussels which were superb, my husbands terrine was ok but no bread served with it.

The mains were not as good as the starters, I chose the maple roasted squash pasta, the ingrediants seemed well cooked although I did wonder if the squash had been roasted at all or just boiled and added to the pasta, the overall dish was bland even after salt, pepper and parmesan added.
I did say I maybe just chose the wrong main.
My husbands burger was dry and tasteless too which was disapointing for him as the burgers are widely advertised as house speciality.(although he ate it all)
The homemade chips were excellent.
The disapointment of the pasta dish was passed on to staff as I didnt eat much of it and they were very apologetic and wanted to put the situation right, they offered to cook me something else and a refund on the dish was agreed on.
Customer service and wanting their patrons to enjoy the experience of the pub very obviously shines through.

We chose the Norway because we've had meals there before and the food never disappoints.
The serving staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. my family were down from 'up country' and have stayed in the hotel before so knew that it was good.

So pleased that we booked to eat here. All the staff we met were very friendly and efficient. We both had the special which was pan fried Hi fish on vegetables. It was delicious. Will definitely return as we are staying in the area for a few more days.

The service at the The Norway Inn was very poor. We placed our order at 7:55 and we didn’t receive our food until 9:15 and this was after complaining to waitress about the wait. When the food eventually came it was good, so that was good. We weren’t once told that the wait was going to over an hour.

When we arrived they didn't have our booking and told us they hadn't received one through open table so there was some confusion which was a little frustrating, they asked if we minded where we sat and we said we didn't mind so they let us choose then the remainder of the eve was lovely, very attentive staff made to feel very welcome and overcame the booking issue with little fuss. All in all a very nice place to eat with a very good menu and atmosphere.

Second time visit - unfortunately when we arrived our OpenTable reservation hadn't been actioned and we were left without a reservation! On showing the receptionist our Email from OpenTable they managed to find a cancellation that we could fill. Phew.

This time we ate in the Restaurant - and I found the ambience much better on our first visit (a Sunday) in the bar.

Overall Food is great, service good - waitress we had that night didn't seem very happy though, maybe a bad day :(

Had the Steak which was excellent and the Norway Burger which was fantastic and great value.

Would return if in the local area but wouldn't make a special visit.

The puds were outstanding and the service was great. Unfortunately there was a hair in my food and the house manager offered to replace the whole meal which I declined and was terribly nice about. I feel whilst I did not expect any form of discount perhaps as I had not caused a fuss a glass of wine or a free pud would of been a better gesture. Its not just the one item of food that is spoilt when you find a hair but your expectation of the setting is affected.

Overall a fantastic night and great staff thank you

Lovely pub, excellent service and very welcoming. We took our dog which was no problem and he was even given a biscuit bone by the restaurant manager. Food was very tasty but some of the portion sizes were very disappointing...eg. 3 small scallops for 9 pounds, a 19 pound steak dish with very few chips.

This was the first time that we had eaten there, so booked for an early evening meal for 2 + dog. No problems with eating in the Bar area. Wasn't too crowded but a bit tight in the car park. Went back there 3 nights later, very crowded but still managed to get a table in the bar; however meal was a long time coming - but worth waiting for!
Would definitely go there again; tried Pandora Inn (a sister pub to Norway) and food etc was equally good.

The mussels as a starter were small but very tasty. The steak was not good.....not cooked medium rare as ordered and frankly tough. I should have complained at the time but when dining with friends, who do not meet frequently, there is a reluctance to disturb the evening by doing so.

I have forwarded your request for feedback to them so they may also let you know their opinions. A comment from one of them was ""I wonder what evenings they serve the "award winning food""!!!

The Norway Inn is (judging by the number of cars often seen to be parked outside) an extremely popular venue so perhaps we were just unlucky on a Tuesday evening. Your feedback on my comments would also be appreciated.

We have been eating at the Norway for many a year and this was the first time that we were disappointed. Firstly we were supposed to have chunky chips, what we were given was certainly not chunky chips, in fact if I was a complaining sort of person I would have returned my meal. With our dessert we requested vanilla ice cream on the side, we were given chocolate!!
