The Old Bank Steak & Ribs
First and last time eating here. But firstly I would like to say that the staff are the only thing going for this place they were lovely, my steak came out as tough as a flip flop (ordered medium) was then given a second steak and cut it open and it was rare maybe even blue and I probably could of dealt with it if I had some peppercorn sauce to wash it down but i received a cold tasteless pot of what looked like dishwater.
So much better than a chain steak house - we had calamari followed by top notch fillet steaks that were beautifully cooked and came with garlic prawns, fries, onion rings and green beans. So nothing surprising on the menu, excellent service and you get what you pay for. The rottisserie chicken is a great idea as you can dine with friends and family who don't want steak or don't eat beef.
Never disappointed with the food here...always a top meal.
Lovely food. Excellent service. Would go again and definitely recommend
First time at this steak house and was pleasantly surprised by attentive and friendly staff the good food and well priced menu and wine list.
I will visit again when next in Brighton.
My daughters & I went for lunch & the food was great, the service was good & the staff were lovely, nice atmosphere, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend to friends **
Had a great dinner at this Restaurant. The Hungarian Goulash was delicious; The steak was great but the pepper sauce could have been a bit more interesting. But that's a question of taste I guess. The service was lovely and helpful, giving us information about the meal and suggestions for the dessert.
Great food at a reasonable price and fantastic service as always. Will definitely eat there again.
I've been a pretty regular visitor to the Old Bank for a couple of years, and it never disappoints. The steaks are well-cooked and the staff are always very friendly and attentive.
Great steak and ribs!
Normal starters but excellent meat!
Really enjoyable first visit to The Old Bank - was presented with very friendly and welcome service which accompanied lovely food, not overly complicated and just what was needed on our visit. Will be back.
This is the second time myself and my husband have visited this Resturant and can highly recommend it to anyone!!
The food and service is amazing!!
The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are very attentive, we even had a few magic tricks shown to us at our table by a local magician!!
Absolutely fantastic meal, steaks grilled to perfection, attentive staff, very welcoming. Will go back soon.
One of my favourite places in Brighton. Love the steaks and the chicken wings are the best.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Old Bank. The food was good and reliable, the service excellent and we sat outside for nice ambience but the inside looked good and spacious too.
Ok, food a bit bland and indifferent, but friendly service, and ok value!
Fairly average.. expected better food.
Good food and cocktails
Had to be steak of course and a decent rump with bags of flavour! However..... unimaginative side salad and overcooked peas albeit with lardons. Soup to start (celeriac) could've been tastier but adequate and served with the ubiquitous sourdough. Macaroni cheese starter? As served, small ramekin but plenty for the course.
Desserts - abundant chocolate/ice cream with a lower fat option of fresh raspberry meringue/coulis - if you don't eat the ice cream!
Overall? Reasonable, adequate, a bit above average. Not quite the standard I'd been expecting I'm afraid, and certainly something could be done to improve the ambience/decor.
A great restaurant with friendly staff. The steaks and ribs were excellent.
Steaks were lovely.
Great food, excellent service, good prices. Would recommend.
very nice very helpful waiter
very nice food had t bone steak
wife had ribs service was a little quick
could have left us between courses bit
longer but will go back again very good
Simply the best ribs and sirloin steak i ever had, every time we visit relatives in Brighton we make a beeline for the old bank. Always a friendly welcome from the staff. Not taken the 72oz challenge yet though!
Very friendly staff and the food was great. We also enjoyed the flamenco guitarist & his music!
My wife and I came here for dinner on an impromptu trip to Brighton.
Loved it here. Service was amazing when we first arrived, staff were so attentive. Got a bit less attention when it got busier but that's to be expected.
The food was brilliant as well, I had hot wings to start and my wife had garlic prawns, and we shared the triple meat selection for a main.
We maybe would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for the table next to us, who were extremely loud and brash, but overall it was fine.
We will definitely come back here if we stay in this part of Brighton again.
Pretty average. Quite a lot of the menu choices were unavailable on the evening we visited - it was NYE and we dined early so it was surprising that they hadn't made sure everything was available. We were initially given a table crammed in alongside 2 quite noisy groups. Staff were helpful and did move us when we asked. Service was good throughout and was the best part of the evening.
Both of us ended up with steaks. My flat-iron was tender and tasty and cooked as I asked. My partner's sirloin was quite stringy. Accompanying sauces, chips and salad were perfectly OK without being anything out of the ordinary. Deserts were pretty awful - processed and massively sweet.
Not a bad place - just nothing very special.
first time there was with family will return there as found food excellent and service also as a disabled person was a pleasure to find somewhere with excellent access and facities and staff was so helpful
Delicious meal and excellent service from our lovely waiter. My clients loved their meal - 1 x ribs with chips, 1 x Mozarella burger with salad and I had the steak with baked potato. My steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were so good we all pinched one. Would recommend.
Had a splendid evening with excellent food, a lovely atmosphere and helpful staff. I look forward to eating here again in the future
The restaurant has a nice ambience as soon as you walk in.
The staff were welcoming and friendly with a great sense of humour and fun.
The tables are well spaced and the bench seating is very comfortable.
There is a wide range of dishes for meat lovers and although fewer options for vegetarians there is still enough on the menu for everyone to choose from.
The service provided by our 2 waiters was exceptional and offered great advice especially when it came to pudding 😜
We will definitely be eating there again!!
This was a last minute booking for 14 people via open table, they called me up and asked if the party could get there a little earlier, which we did.
The waiter, whom i presumed was the owner was brilliant, as was the food. The layout and decor wasnt Blue Chip but the food more than made up for it..
