Lovely staff. Great food and good quality. Tables were well spaced out for social distancing.
The restaurant was empty often with no staff in sight hence one of our party often was required to search the restaurant after service. The carvery was a big let down everything eat over cooked, Yorkshire’s burnt to a cinder even the carrots and sprouts were burnt. Expected much better, over priced and under delivered. Very disappointing
Great food, loads of choice, not limited to Xmas menu & chance to see Santa as well. Fab treat for the family!
Christmas Menu the daughter had Turkey, me and the wife had 'blade' of beef which in fact was shin of beef stewing steak which was full of gristle,
tough and awful. I emailed the venue and had no reply.
Food was excellent and great value for money. The staff were attentive and friendly.
Second visit within a month with my sister. We feel perfectly safe dining here.
Food is lovely with ample food on the plate. So full there was no room for pudding. Not complaining but would love to have had one so that I could comment on them.
Would recommend to everyone even if you feel nervous
A warm welcome, a substantial meal and great value. The turkey ciabatta is to be recomended
Fantastic meal, plenty of choice on the menu and very prompt friendly service. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely food lovely pub and good staff went for our anniversary they sat us at a lovely table out if the way
Great Food and Great Service . Made a great effort for my lads 9th Birthday with candle in his dessert and balloon 🎈.
Fantastic service, lovely food and relaxing atmosphere. We were staying in the local area and found The Beams to be the perfect place to have dinner. The children's portions were a perfect size, and the choice of food was perfect. Can't fault it!
Absolutely great food as always with welcoming staff,
Just opened after lockdown. Table booked for 6pm so quiet. Staff attentive. Abiding by all COVID Regs. Only one draft beer on offer but probably not enough custom to tap two or three barrels. Food excellent. An enjoyable experience.
The pub was too cold on arrival at 1pm. The real fire was not lit and the radiators were only just warm. The staff were welcoming, explained the new rules very clearly and escorted us to our reserved table.
We ordered the food and drinks together. A bottle of red wine arrived far too cold (and it was almost £20) . The other drinks were fine(3 pints Bud Light and 2 pots of tea).
Not enough cutlery or napkins were provided and it was difficult to contact staff for more. Luckily, we had some wipes.
When the food came the three orders of pizza were excellent, as was the child portion of sausage, mash and peas. Unfortunately it was a different story for the child portion of steak, chips and peas. The chips were not hot and the steak was so tough it was inedible (not having been provided with a steak knife I tried and failed to cut it with a pizza wheel !).
We ordered puddings after diner which took a long time to arrive. Sticky toffee pudding was great. Bailey's cheesecake topping was perfect but the base was too thick and too hard-could not put a spoon through it. Apple and rhubarb pie was good but not hot enough.
Overall very disappointing, especially as we were the only group in the pub. The £75.00 price tag (and this is after they knocked off the cost of the steak) seems a lot.
Not wanting to post a negative review without contacting them first, I emailed the Beams privately. That was three days ago. As I received no reply I am posting this revue.
Was lovely to arrive to happy birthday decorations on the table, it wasn’t requested so it was a nice surprise! Food was really nice, as it was the last day before lockdown they couldn’t provide the full menu but that’s perfectly understandable in the circumstances. Well done guys, we are all looking forward to seeing you again as soon as Mr Johnson allows!
Another excellent meal and service, highly recommend a visit, great selection on draught and plenty of gins.
Fantastic as usual, glorious steak cooked to perfection. See you after lockdown!!
A nicely decorated pub with a very pleasant atmosphere. Excellent staff and very good food.
Great Food! Great service considering the circumstances
Lovely staff , food was mixed. Some really good and some average. The team had it well managed and were really nice.
Safe surroundings. Good waitress service. Fantastic food. No being rushed . Fantastic x
First time we had been to a pub since lock down. Really impressed with service and quality. It felt very safe.
I went for a meal with my son on Monday and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu. The food was excellent, service impeccable and the Covid precautions very reassuring. I have booked a table for Friday with my partner as it was so good.
Thank you for a lovely meal
Lovely pub and staff, fantastic food and very accommodating allowing to stay overnight on the car park.
Will return again in the spring.
Service and food good. Place itself excellent. Lovely touch birthday banner and balloon. Only one tiny moan music to loud and not right for lunch time.
Cannot fault it one bit. Havent been the this pub in a long time, however i can say i definitely will be back. Beautiful food to celebrate a birthday, well priced and lovely atmosphere.
Good pub/ restaurant. Particularly enjoyed my Meat Feast Pizza - very nice.
Covid friendly pub. Good selection of food. Ordered home made soup which I sent back to be heated up, after that it was perfect. Very friendly staff. Would certainly visit again.
Very enjoyable meal, had Steak & Kidney pie with mash & cabbage, bit light on kidney but steak was very tender.. Nice pub/ restaurant, shame we live so far away.
Nice place to eat , good quality food, cooked well.
Great venue .Lovely feel to the pub re the decor and ambience. Quiet lunchtime turnout,as indeed was the town overall, no doubt due to current circumstances .nevertheless a v warm welcome ,excellent service and great food. The four of us really enjoyed it .
Fantastic food as always. Staff very friendly and good safety measures in place. Would recommend it
My grandson had just moved into the area and we had decided to go to Sunday lunch at The Old Beams this was an excellent choice, we were shown to our table , given a menu ,we chose a Sunday carvery, we were given a ticket and a member of staff escorted us to choose our meal , so no queuing with other people the carvery was outstanding, with four meats to choose from and all the trimmings at all times we felt very safe and I would highly this venue

Yet again another awesome service with food to match.
Fully engaged staff, the only issue we had we the garlic bread that well baked, when we spoke to the server he said he would speak to the chefs. I was under the impression we may have had this removed off the bill, unfortunately this wasn’t the case.
Other than that the food was tops..
Lovley food, good quality, and staff were great. We did have a very loud group who wanted every one know they were there! But thats just a one off.
We will be using it more often
Gluten free options were very limited and homemade pizza base was very dry. Friends meal was tasty although it didn't look appitizing. Staff were polite but slow service.
Well food was good as usual feel very safe in there staff work so hard just really nice can’t fault it other than drinks bit expensive.
Great found in a lovely pub. Great service. In a fantastic setting. Particularly would recommend the black pudding and bacon stack.
a nice meal, not expensive,my wife had the ploughmans lunch which used to be on most menus 25 years ago and really enjoyed it, i really enjoyed my sweet which was apple and caramel pie with custard lovely
