The Old Coach and Horses is the Village Pub in the heart of the picturesque village of Harbledown. Just 5 minutes by car from the centre of Canterbury, or a leisurely 15-minute walk. We serve a large selection of local cask ales, lagers and fine wines. A former Coach House on the ancient London to Canterbury road, The Old Coach and Horses has a large upstairs restaurant leading onto a sunny terrace and a sunny terraced garden with fabulous views of the unspoilt woods surrounding Harbledown. Our food is freshly prepared and of the highest quality, using local suppliers and seasonal produce. We pride ourselves on being a ‘village pub’ at the heart of the local community. A sunny garden in the summer and a roaring log fire in the winter, The Old Coach and Horses is always cosy, friendly and informal, but always striving for the best in service and atmosphere and good food.

    The staff were very nice and helpful. Food was okay. Sadly almost every chair had a tear in the seat so was an immediate ‘oh dear do I want to be here’ as you walk in. The outside seating area which looks lovely in the pictures is equally tired looking. Personally for my £30 a head that we spent I wouldn’t return, but wish them well as it’s been difficult times.

    Really friendly, helpful staff. Very dog friendly. Booked it for Sunday lunch on basis of good TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately didn't live up to it. Crispy calamari was rubbery and soft. Big portions for roast dinner but cauliflower cheese was mushy and lukewarm as was carrot puree. Roast potatoes were hard - presumably reheated from earlier in day or previous day?

    This pub serves good food. Nothing too fancy but tasty and substantial. It is a nice old building in a pretty village, let down by the lack of car park and the need to park in a road with no pavement. The staff are friendly and welcoming but service was a little slow. The tables felt a little sticky.

    The roast was very good, although only two types of vegetables which was a little disappointing. We had to wait while the menus were printed, so sat for longer then expected before our order was taken. Staff were pleasant. Would eat here again.

    Friendly service. Tap water tasted very strange. Glasses a bit dirty. Good food. Pub was empty! Not great pub for old people with the steps.

    We had a pleasant meal but there was a party going on and clearly lots of new staff members that didn’t know what they were doing. We hoped to stay longer but found the environment quite chaotic.

    Once again a fabulous and tasty meal here. Definitely recommend. The food is top quality and so reasonably priced. The staff were so friendly and sweet to my 5yr daughter. Just don’t think they can do any better . Thank you for having us :)

    We went for Sunday lunch it was amazing. Staff friendly . It was a lovely day so we sat in the garden. I had belly pork very tasty my husband had steak he said best steak he has had.

    Beautiful setting in the terraced gardens, good food and friendly service. The host was very helpful also in communication beforehand, with questions on our reservation and parking. Highly recommended

    Lovely place. Their 2 for one steak night was amazing. We both had fillet steak. Excellent quality, very good portion size and the accompaniments tasted delicious too. All for only £30 the two! Absolute bargain. Friendly, efficient service too. Highly recommend. Well done all and thank you 😊

    Nice restaurant, lovely setting. Parking a bit tricky. Lots of stairs as on several levels. Food overall was good but roast potatoes need attention!

    Even though our booking on Open Table hadn't gone through to their system, we were still given a warm welcome and found a table. The food and drink were excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. I wish it was my local!

    Lovely quaint gastropub emanating history and atmosphere. Great welcome and more than dog friendly! 'Harry' our happy springer was made a huge fuss of and loved his experience! Food was excellent and even the drinks were served in traditional glasses which we loved. Definitely more return visits planned.

    Fantastic meal in a beautiful pub. Fire was roaring, staff were friendly and attentive. My son said it was the finest brownie outside of the USA, high praise indeed! I fully intend to visit much more often.

    Food was great, especially the roast - I had the Romney Marsh lamb which was succulent and tender. Only minor quibbles: no Parmesan for the pasta and only mint sauce, not mint jelly.

    Lovely late lunch/ early dinner with my two boys. Great steaks for the men (love the roasted tomatoes) and my Pad Thai was really good. Puddings disappeared fast . (And rather moreish cocktails ! ) Thank you. I’ll remember again for return route from Canterbury.

    Great ambience and a superb seafood platter. Service from Isla was exemplary, many thanks. I mistakenly overpaid and Pete flagged me down as I was driving away to return the excess to me.; very nice gesture. Altogether an extremely enjoyable evening.

    We were given a very warm welcome and seated at our table exactly on time. The staff had kindly put decorations up next to our table as we were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. I had messaged in advance to see if there were any little embellishments that they could provide. The drinks were delivered quickly, and there was a very good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from. Our Sunday roast was delicious, generously portioned, and presented very well. We would definitely recommend The Old Coach & Horses.
