Very impressed with the Sunday lunch. Probably the best I can remember. Lovely atmosphere and great service right from the beginning. Highly recommend if you want something a bit special on a Sunday.

What a lovely little gem of which we don't have many in the area. Really interesting food cooked superbly in nice balanced courses. Great friendly service. Accessibly priced interesting wines. In a lovely environment. Good value too. Visit and visit again :-)

We were under the impression that Faringdon was a village plagued by subpar eateries, but my experience last evening has completely overturned that view. The cuisine was exceptional, and the staff were exceedingly warm and welcoming, greeting everyone with a genuine smile. This establishment is certainly on par with those that have been graced with a Michelin star. While it may not have received such an accolade just yet, it undoubtedly sets a standard for other local restaurants to aspire to, showcasing the culinary prowess of its chefs. It is, without a doubt, a place worth visiting.

1940's murder mystery evening was a lot of fun. Some had a little too much fun! Food was ... OK. Cold plates were super cold, almost frozen. Even for a 7 course taster menu, the portions were VERY small. Entertainment was brilliant, they 'managed' a few in the audience really well and were top value for money, a really great evening. This is our second time at the Old Crown ... I'm not sure if we'll be back, there are better places around.

From what we saw The decoration and staff all great. However, the Sunday roast meal was disappointing. Starter okay but the roast disappointing. The beef was okay but the rest of it was over cooked. Swimming in gravy.

One should probably ask on booking if an event is being planned at that time. It definitely impinges on all aspects: ambience,food and value . We were seated on what appeared to be a major footfall route. On another day the star rating would possibly be higher.

We booked a table in the wine bar and the bar snacks were absolutely delicious and the cocktails excellent. Loved the decor and ambience. Could happily have stayed there all evening, but for wanting to try some of the other bars in the area!

Absolutely fantastic meal celebrating our 31st Wedding Anniversary. I chose the 3 course meal and my husband went for the 4 courses (this included the Cheese course). We were blown away by the standard of the food. The service we received was excellent with the staff being both attentive and knowledgeable. We would definitely visit again

This was our 4th or 5th visit to the Old Crown and the menu was limited. The overall experience was disappointing and the food although looked great was average, I would expect better. I have to say though the desert was amazing.

Food was excellent. Very tasty starters and Sunday Lunch was spot on. With the exception of the Puddings not quite to the same level. Still very good but missed an edge. Good service , very good beers and wines.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay here. The Inn has been refurbished to a high standard with high quality furnishings. The staff are very professional, friendly and work hard to make your stay as special and relaxing as possible. The food is outstanding and of Michelin star quality with the chef creating fabulous dishes from locally sourced ingredients . Worth a visit for the food alone . Thank you to all for making our stay very special

Booked table on Tuesday for an evening meal for 4 on Wednesday. Received email confirmation. Next day received email saying reservation was cancelled as no chef. When I phoned was told they had known the restaurant would be closed for days. Now too late to get alternative booking at place of our choice, very poor organisation

Our page on Opentable was marked as closed for this day on the Sunday prior to your requested booking and we are truly sorry for the mistake/glitch that occurred. We contacted you as soon as we realised when staff arrived Wednesday morning. You probably would have been a little more understanding and not left such a poor score if you knew we were protecting the welfare of all of our kitchen staff following on from a busy Follyfest weekend by giving them an extra day off to spend at home.

We went to the hotel for the oyster and saxophone evening. What a treat! Attentive and fun staff, we had the bar snack menu too, great value for 5 plates to share between two. Lots of options, delicious. It was so good we came back for the bbq the next evening! Thank you team Crown. We will be back soon!

Food was lovely and it’s nice to now have somewhere offering this standard of food locally. A bit more choice would’ve been good, we had checked the online menu so knew there was only a choice of two starters, mains and desserts on the set lunch menu.. we were not offered the bar menu. Another couple who arrived just after us left due to the lack of choice and they were given the bar menu as well as the set menu. Service was efficient but a tad lacking in friendliness and warmth.
