Nice location, good food and fair value. Service was ok, missed a spoon for a dessert but luckily we had a spare on the table, but a small point from an overall good experience.
We booked for a birthday celebration, I did put it during my reservation, I was not asked, when I got there,
Then the staff kept asking if we wanted to order, it felt we were rushed, my order was wrong and was not advised if I substitute beef to spinach, there will be a charge,
My coffee was really cold, it then we got a extremely hot coffee
If you think that the pandemic is over - you can go there. Food is average though service is friendly.
Delicious food. Helpful, friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere, if a little noisy. Only slight downer was they should have waited until all our meals were ready before bringing them out.
Definitely visit again.
Lovely restaurant & food was absolutely gorgeous…
We were disappointed as our table was booked for 8.00pm although we arrived early and were given the table early no one mentioned to us that the kitchen closes at 8.30pm. We were told this at 8.15pm and then rushed to order and eat quickly. We wanted to order another pizza but didn’t get a chance. Quite disappointed
Good beer, extensive menu, polite staff and a good mix of pasta, pizza and others.
3rd visit and food is impeccable as ever. The thinnest of thin crust pizzas was especially good. Certain beers were not available on the menu but overall would definitely recommend
It was so busy, which is the only reason I have marked them down. Service was a little slower and disorganised than their usual excellence.
Food was, as always, excellent.
We go regularly. It is my favourite restaurant.
This is my second time at The Old Guinea. Taking my boyfriends mother somewhere different for lunch. We were accommodated at a lovely table. Food was over all quite average compared to our first visit. My boyfriend’s beef lasagne lacked flavour and was extremely cheesy. His toffy pudding was cold and just then re-microwaved, not to impressed regarding this. Overall staff is great, and atmosphere is good. My pizza was lovely as well as my boyfriend’s moms mushroom truffle dish. I will be back to enjoy The Old Guinea and still recommend it to family and friends.
Very busy for such a tucked away place. Food was lovely, service was very good and attentive but not hanging around even with them being as busy as they were.
Great restaurant, lovely food and very tentative service particularly when considering how busy they were!
I’d definitely recommend it and hope to visit once again.
It was our first experience at The Old Guinea and it will be our last. The garlic bread was amazing but the rest of our meal was very poor. I’m no cook but I could have cooked better myself. The service was ok, our waiter was pleasant but I felt like I was sitting under a spotlight all night! I did ask if it could be dimmed but was told not. The lighting was far too bright and the restaurant had absolutely no ambience. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for an evening out, maybe a quick lunch for a pizza.
Georgeous Pizza very nice friendly staff. The outside lights looked very welcoming.
This is my third visit and on all occasions the food has been fresh and well presented. They have a lot of staff who are attentive and got everything right. The only criticism that I have is that they have become very busy and we were told on arrival that we only have the table for 1hr 45 which would normally be ok but as i was meeting with friends I do not see regularly.
Superb pizzas and pasta dishes. Friendly efficient service. Great location. AND real ale!
The food was as always superb! The issues that annoyed my friends and I was that after our main course we were constantly asked if we wanted dessert and or coffee. After being asked what felt like 10 times we had dessert, but said we wanted to wait for coffee. When we asked for coffee we were told the coffee machine had been switched off! Had we been told this earlier we would have all ordered coffee at the time.
Decent food, would like to attend in the day next time to sit outside
Good food, lovely setting with countryside views and friendly staff.
Very disappointed with our visit this time. Have visited your restaurant many times before, unfortunately on this occasion to start my friend choose a dish which was unavailable. Then she ordered a bolognese as did my husband. My friend and myself ordered pizzas. My friends bolognese arrived alone. So I told her to start eating it. I mentioned that when you go out to eat with friends all the four meals should arrive together or at least within a few minutes. About 5 minutes later the 2nd bolognese arrived. Then 5 minutes after that the pizzas arrived. The food as always was delicious but was a shame that we couldn't all eat at the same time.
Amazing services with excellent fresh food!!!
We’ll definitely come back again!
We had great pizzas a few drinks and it was lovely We don't mind children so it was fine for us at 5pm, but if you want a quiet meal,I would go later,
It was a most beautiful day so we sat outside. The views were so lovely.
The food was hot and well prepared
Really friendly staff and plenty of menu choices including vegan options. A great ambience in the bar area too.
Lovely atmosphere but service a little slow outside
Lovely atmosphere, good service my companions enjoyed their meal, they both chose a pasta dish. I chose the mozzarella salad, salad was freshly prepared and delicious but I had forgotten how tasteless mozzarella cheese is! There was only two vegetarian options on the salad menu both involved mozzarella. An alternative options for vegetarians could include pulses? Just a suggestion.
Food was perfect and enjoyed by us all very much. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Pleasant and helpful staff. Enjoyed my salad which was a great lunch serving.
Lovely restaurant. I took my wife for lunch and we loved it. She had a pizza and I had the Prawn Linguine and then we both had the warm sticky toffee pudding. Service, meal and atmosphere was excellent. Thank you guys, we'll be back, highly recommended!
Really enjoyed our dinner. Had a very tasty pizza, thin, crispy and spicy, just how I like them!
Service was excellent and coped with a complicated order with ease.
Can't wait to go back!
Really enjoyed my delicious birthday dinner! But the staff ignored my birthday, even though I'd noted it down on the booking and was wearing a birthday badge!!
Food was superb! Lovely atmosphere and good service. Great choice of drinks too (we especially like Trebbiano). Only improvement that could be made was more crumble topping for the crumble. Thanks for a delicious meal
My husband ordered a calzone from the menu which advised that it was served with a salad garnish. He was, therefore, disappointed to find that the "salad garnish" was simply a handful of rocket leaves. When he questioned the waitress, she asked if he'd like a salad and he responded that, yes, he'd like a salad as that's what the menu had led him to expect would come with the calzone.
A small bowl of mixed salad with some dressing was provided. When we asked for our bill, the salad was included as an extra item and my husband requested them to remove the item from our bill which was done w without question.
If you write a menu that mentions a salad garnish then you expect a salad, which implies a mixture of fresh veg like cucumber and tomato, as well as some green leaves. The menu should be edited to say that the calzone comes with a garnish of rocket leaves, which is a more accurate representation of what he received.
Amazing food so tasty, huge portions great prices lovely staff highly recommend! Beautiful views too
Booked via open table. Did request a window table over a week in advance but didn’t get one and were tucked in by the open kitchen. That said it wasn’t noisy there and we were fine. I would have been more disappointed if this request wasn’t considered if it were a summer evening and we missed out on the lovely view. The restaurant was busy and has a pleasant ambiance. For my taste the lasagna was over seasoned with Italian herbs. Sadly the beers provided were also beyond the best before dates.
The service was very good and hubby enjoyed his meal.
Had a lovely evening last night. I love the prawn starter. The waitress was lovely and v attentive. The food is freshly cooked and delicious and hot. What’s not to like. Lovely location.
Great food in a lovely setting
Even at 2.30pm, the restaurant was full - deservedly so. Quiet enough to hear each other without having to shout. The food delicious. The service exemplary.
My wife and I have been eating at lunchtime on a monthly basis. Up until recently we have enjoyed the sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air and the views over the countryside. This was our first dining experience inside and it was pleasant, with good service and lovely food.
Birthday breakfast. Friendly staff - great service. Delicious food
