As good as expected. A very reliable place for dining with friends. Many thanks.
First visit for us and we weren't disappointed in any way. Food was awesome and the pub decor, ambience was great. Only critics my eas the tie it took to bring our order even though we had booked a table. Worth another visit for sure. Would love to see it in summer after a lovely walk.
Cracking good food, the Beef Sunday Roast is a favourite of ours. Desserts good too. Beautiful Resteraunt in one of the loveliest areas of England. This was our second visit in a month, wish we had found this gem years ago. Worth the 30 mile round trip for lunch.
Lovely food, very nice roast and lamb Wellington. Nice atmosphere but a bit cold sat near the door. The door closed slowly after people entered and people dont actually shut it.
Visited several times (to stay and for food), it’s a beautifully renovated old building with fantastic food and very friendly staff.
Enjoyed a lovely meal in a beautiful setting. Service was efficient and staff were very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed - will definitely revisit
Excellent meal was had in the Old Hall. The food and drink was of excellent Quality , with a great choice on the menu. Service was of a high standard with staff very attentive . This venue is highly recommended . This venue has a very good ambience . You can not only choose to eat here but there is also accommodation available .
Sunday lunch is another highly recommended meal option. It is recommended that meat options are pre booked to avoid disappointment. The steak pudding is another meal that is very very good and a must for any visitor
What a wonderful place to have a Sunday lunch, with the menu also offering some excellent further options. A very extensive list of gins, too! Very attentive service, although the Inn was quite busy.
It was my birthday with family...private cosy room, lovely staff, perfect food...don't usually leave reviews but this deserves it !
First time visit, certainly won't be the last. We were very impressed by the food and it's presentation. The service was first class, couldn't complain about anything.
We really enjoyed our meal. We asked for gluten free vegan, and ordinary vegan, and had two beautifully tasty meals laid in front of us without any difficulties, including starter and puddings. Staff were very attentive and we were not kept waiting for our food. It was a lovely atmosphere and a lovely building too.
The venue had been recommended but the first time we were disappointed but came back for a second chance. All very acceptable but not quite as special as I had hoped. But no complaints.
First class Sunday lunch in lovely traditional pub\restaurant complete with wood burning stove. Thoroughly recommended.
Celebrated my sister’s birthday here. Booking was so easy online. From start to finish the entire evening was brilliant. The staff make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent, although I would have liked a more extensive starter menu with more salad options and a wider choice of vegetables with the main courses, although I have to say the pickled beetroot salad starter was special. We all had different dishes, lamb, duck and fish and everyone was really happy with their choice, my sister stated that it was the best duck she had ever tasted. Will definitely return and would highly recommend. Thank you for such a lovely evening in a quirky, enchanting, cosy establishment. Can’t wait to return😀
Overall we had a plesant evening at The Old Hall. The place is cosy and warm with lit fires and wood and stone decor.
The food was good, the fish was particularly nice.
Service was always friendly and helpful but at times we did feel a bit rushed which doesn't make for a relaxed evening out.
All aspects were very much to my liking. If you want good quality food in an old place full of character, then come here.
I wanted to eat in a restaurant where noise was not excessive (i.e. You can hear each other when in conversation) because the evening and meal was for a family reunion and birthday celebration. And I wanted us to eat a nice meal in a restaurant with a nice ambience. The Old Hall Inn met all these requirements.
Excellent menu choices but even on a weekday evening the restaurant was busy and the kitchen and service under pressure
Food generally excellent. Slight tendency to adopt ludicrous hipster affectations, serving food in silly wire baskets ( chips/ whitebait).
Although we've lived in the area (Marple) for many years, we are sorry to say this was our first visit to the Old Hall- and certainly won't be our last. We took a chance, on recommendations, and brought our friends here to celebrate a birthday. It was fantastic- we were warmly welcomed, drinks were quickly provided, and the food was superb. Our friends- who have tried Sunday lunches everywhere said it was the best they've had for ages. Thank you.
My partner’s meal was super (chicken) & then pecan pie, but my fish pie option was mediocre. Not too keen on the accompanying salad or bread either.
My partner was late and the staff were super at being flexible & attentive. Lovely.
The Bill (drinks part) was wrong 3 times but was sorted.
The venue is stunning & we would idefinitely go back and try different dishes on the menu.
We are local to the pub but hadnt been for some time but the food is always very good. We all had different meals and were all high quality. Waitresses very attentive too.
The food was amazing, extremely tasty. Lots of choice on the menu. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We will Definitely return to try more on the menu 👍👍❤️
We were lucky to have a table for 6 in a small room to ourselves. It suited us perfectly. Staff and service were terrific. Food was lovely and the conversation flowed. Thanks.
Fantastic friendly staff, great service and outstanding food my favourite place .Best food around by a country mile and the landlord is really nice and helpful too .
Excellent food with pleasant helpful staff in a lovely building and location. Gammon was excellent and the cheese, leek and apple pie was lovely.
Having informed the venue, we arrived 10 minutes late to find that service finished at 7.30 (should have been told beforehand). Ushered into a back room, we felt we had to rush to choose from the menu. We then waited for OVER AN HOUR to be served with our choices. The food was excellent but the wait (even allowing for it to be cooked from scratch) unacceptable. We were offered free desserts or coffees in compensation but this did not impress my visitors from overseas and rather ruined a very good weekend.
Started and finished a walk in this pub. We chose the Sunday roast and it was well worth the wait during peak times - everything was cooked to perfection: the beef the right amount of rare, the yorkshire big and crispy, the potatoes crunchy and salty, the vegetables fresh and not overdone, and a decent gravy on top. Excellent value, would definitely go back and recommend to friends visiting the west side of the Peak District.
The best place around for miles that's worth going to. The service is absolutely excellent, friendly, warm, welcoming and efficient. Food is just simply delicious with a great choice. Great choice of wine and beer. Why can't all pub food be as good as this place!
Had the pleasure of dining with my family ( 2 adults and children from 9-15) for 3 nights in a row whilst staying in one of their cottages, service excellent without being intrusive, enough food choices to suit all of our tastes and specials on offer daily, eveyone loved their meals and after a days walking very satisfied with the portions. good quality, tasty food served in a lovely environment. Go for the steak and ale pie or the Sunday roast you wont be disappointed ;)
Excellent quality pub food, great atmosphere and prompt friendly efficient service.
Fabuolous meal very creative chef better than many top rank restaurants will definitely be back a real favourite.
Beautiful secluded and peaceful location. A cosy but popular pub with an excellent choice of food and ales. Staff were friendly and helpful. Value for money. Definitely worth a visit.
This pub is a real pub with very good food, excellent beer and very good service. Whilst we were there there was a wedding party walkers, couples, families. In other words everyone is made to feel welcome. It has several different areas and they all have slightly different ambience. Very good indeed
Very nice pub in a nice location. Staff were impressive, very friendly but not overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, drinks delivered to the table promptly, and having asked for the bill it arrived without any delay. They even offered a doggy bag. Food was excellent, especially the beetroot risotto and fish cakes. Side salads were way above the usual afterthought of lettuce, cucumber and tomato - mine included chickpeas and artichokes. Can't think of much to criticise - maybe my lamb burger was a bit overseasoned (i.e. too much spice rather than too much salt), but that's just my preference. The brisket burger was much more gently spiced and allowed the taste of the meat to come through. Good to see a full menu available on Sunday lunchtime as well as the roasts, as so many places seem to ditch their weekday menu on Sunday lunchtime.
We'll be going again, even though it's an hour away by car.
We stayed in the Peak District for a week in July visited the Old Hall Inn on a Friday night. Was busy and had a good atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful. The food was really good, we both had steak which was cooked beautifully. Had a nosy at other people's dinners all looked really yummy. The area near the bar is all dog friendly and our spaniel loved all the attention...
Lovely and fantastic food and ambiance as always. Thank you
What a find! Had a good trip advisor rating so thought we'd try it.
Car sat nav did take us very much on the scenic route but it was absolutely worth it.
It's a surprisingly large pub, with ample seating for dining and a very relaxed but classic feel.
The service was great, very friendly and attentive.
The food was absolutely gorgeous and presented beautifully, while very fairly priced. The quality of the food was clear and it is all sourced locally.
We always worry that any place might not be suitable for our young son but the staff were very friendly and accommodated his needs with no fuss. He absolutely loved the foodas well which was a surprise as he has been fussy with it recently!
We would make the journey over from Leeds just for a meal in future, it's that good!
Great pub ambience. Great beers and ciders. Tasty and well presented food
Lovely food. Well presented ! Very enjoyable. !
Very good vegetarian options and a good choice of well kept real ales.
