Really welcoming and delicious food.
Good food but limited choice if you do not eat beef
We booked for a table of 8. The greeting from walking in the door was welcoming and friendly. Our server was really great, she was patient with some of our daft questions and kept smiling throughout. The food was really good and plentiful. We had a really lovely family lunch.
Excellent service, log burner perfect evening
I have been a loyal customer for many years and appreciate the current emphasis on attentive service. The menu is not as wide as it has been at times in the past, but the food is always satisfying and makes it worthwhile to go out for a meal.
Lovely friendly pub, good food, not really gastropub but good pub grub
We love the Old spring the food is always lovely and service is great we go quite often and always have a lovely time
I love eating at the Old Spring; the food is always good and well prepared, the wine list offers a good variety of wines from old and new world. The desserts are always worth going for, even when you know you will feel guilty for the indulgence.
Lovely dining experience with delicious food and efficient service. Really wanted to support the Old Spring as the current rise in Covid concerns meant that hospitality is u see huge threat yet again.
Good meal as always. In the marquee once the heater was working it was nice & warm only comment on the negative, it would have been nice if there were some Xmas decorations given the season & that many will choose to use the marquee
Lovely festive atmosphere and great decorations. Food and service excellent as always!
Booked for a family pre~Christmas get-together, a table for 7. Lovely food and great to have free parking on site. A bit expensive, but worth it for the quality of food and the ambience, which was great. Nice big table, and felt safely distanced from other diners, the layout of the interior giving good privacy. Only dropped a star for service as this was rather slow despite being quiet, and a little abrupt at times. Notwithstanding this we would definitely come again.
I was assured that the roast beef would be carved from a joint. It was not. It was two rather tough slices of “beef” and definitely not carved from a joint. Very disappointing.
Had a great lunch and the service was fab, only downside was we were sat near a toilet!
Would go again.
Had the fish sharing platter as a starter. Very tasty.
The regular menu for mains looked a bit limited. We opted for the specials - chargrilled pork chop on a bed of dried fruit couscous - it was amazing .
Good friendly service and a nice selection of beers and ales .
The best dining experience in a long while . Thank you
very good --- real pub food, only pity that they didn't have any German Weissbier as they used to in olden days...
Excellent serving staff makes this place a standout!
Cosy atmosphere with roaring fires. Delicious food.
There were 9 of us dining and the food and service was outstanding.
This is nice place for a meal. However, the food is good but not not outstanding. The specials are clearly pre-prepared and only finished off when ordered. It's also pretty expensive. We paid £85 for a shared starter, and a main and a couple of drinks each. But it is a very pleasant place to have a meal if you don't mind the price and don't expect too much.
Good ambience, excellent service and good choice of dishes on menu. The only thing to criticise was the sound levels. Our group of older women found it hard to hear each other even though on Friday lunchtime it was not full. It needs some drapes or wall coverings to dampen the echos.
Not sure if the steaks were the right way round. Everything else very good.
Excellent friendly service from our waitress (the one from Greece). Good food. Decent quality burger. Nice lentil salad with a tonne of haloumi.
The heater was turned off to push us out but the waitress 'forgot' to bring the bill after we requested for it.
A lovely cosy pub, with a nice atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent food, including a great range of specials.
lovely steak burger one of the best I have had in a long time and the roast was great too ordered beef came out with chicken but mistake quickly solved staff lovely
Fab meal for a group of six. Delicious steaks and sticky toffee yummy! Service and ambience great.
Nice pub lovely staff food fine.very overpriced no anchovies in caesar salad.for 2 caesar salads with chicken and side of chips 1 wine 2 beers over £74 which is restaurant prices not pub prices
It’s a lovely pub, Sunday roast (beef) wasn’t the best one, for the price plate was small, 6 of us thought the same, service was good, polite.
Nice pub to enjoy food and drink. Staff are friendly and accommodating
Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food portions were quite bit and tasty.
First time at this restaurant for us but we will definitely use again when staying in this area.
Food was tasty enough but this is one of the worst places in Cambridge in terms of value for money. Slow and confused service.
Food and service was amazing. Will definitely be coming back!
No roast dinners left, this was only told to us after looking at the menu and waiting 15 mins for our order to be taken
A nice easy venue with good food and lovely staff
Good service and enjoyable food. Diners were well spaced.
Food was all beautifully prepared and presented. We ordered sharing beef chilli nachos and asked for some to be left dairy-free and were delighted to be served separate portions with and without cheese. Just had steak burgers / fish&chips as mains. Lovely. Great service. Would be 5* except felt the menu choices were a bit limited, though we'd checked online first and knew what to expect. No room for dessert but looked delicious.
Had a fantastic lunch at the Old Spring. I had the special of Serrano ham and roasted vegetables, which was delicious. The staff were lovely and the ambiance nice and quiet. Will definitely visit again in the future.
Great food and even better service.
They could have more options for veggies or vegans but apart from this I can't fault them
