Attentive staff, quick service and excellent food. Wee bit of wait for table which was slightly uncomfortable due to size of restaurant, but fully understand these things happen. Will definitely return next time in Edinburgh.
Tasty food. Portions not too over facing although one cheese portion would have done two of us.
Lovely food, good service and nice surroundings. Will definitely go back
Only thing that’s negative is it’s a little cold in there but so wear warm clothes. Everything else is amazing. They’re a great little place.
Had a lovely lunch with my friend. Service was excellent as was the food. The only tiny problem was the cold but I get that fresh air had to circulate due to COVID. Would still highly recommend this restaurant.
Booked for lunch through website which took us to open table app. Booking was for 4 people lunch at 1pm which the app said would mean we had table for 2 hours. Had mains and a bottle of wine then asked for second bottle of wine to be told we only had 20 minutes left in our booking of 1.5 hours.
They blamed app for issue but if they use app for their bookings they need to take responsibility for this.
Queried booking slot but no extension possible- meant they missed us purchasing wine, desserts and coffees and tip. Really disappointed in the way we were treated.
The one course of food we had was tasty but cannot see us returning after this negative experience.
Take care when using toilet one of our group hurt hand as no space beside handle. She not show us until after we left but should have shown staff to ensure they rectify this issue as her hand was swollen and bruised.
Breakfast - cafe cold, food nothing special for the price I would have expected more.
A pleasant night with tasty food! Highly recommended.
Excellent food except for the duck starter which was dry. Service friendly and efficient. Lovely meal in general. Thank you.
Despite being busy the service was prompt . The food flavoursome and delicate . Recommend as a cosy place with the personal touch
A great place with super staff and great food and wine. A short stroll from the centre and will certainly be back
We had an amazing brunch on Sunday morning ! Great beginning of the day
I have been using the OB for many years now when I visit the city for its fantastic breakfast. But this time it was awful in every way.
Will not be returning.
Food good, service pleasant but far too slow. Never got to order desserts because waiting staff took so long to take orders throughout meal, was eventually asked to leave table at 2 hours before orders placed, but were given dessert menus!
Tasty food. A bit different from the norm. Service very good.
We chose the mid-afternoon spot and found it suited us perfectly as although it was busy there wasn't too much noise. The menu was varied and would suit patrons who would like a full meal or a small meal depending on appetite. We had the Pasta of the day which was most enjoyable and different we would have at home. All was well presented to make it an enjoyable experience. It was the first time we had 'dined' here having only had a snack on a visit a few years ago.
Felt very relaxed despite being booked out. Food was good, staff friendly and value was fine. If I was being picky not sure why one of 5 breakfasts came out 5 minutes before the others, they never checked of we wanted drinks refreshed and it took longer than it felt it should to get the bill. Would go back though.
The food was lovely. However the service was poor. All the dishes and drinks were brought on the table at the same time and we were so rushed to eat that when we asked to order a desert we were told we had to give the table away. It was not even 2h we were there. Not a very nice experience. A real shame as the food was excellent, but being rushed over a meal is not my idea of sharing an evening with a friend and enjoying the food.
Visited for a bite to eat on Friday evening prior to going out. Very busy but great atmosphere and very good food and service. So glad we booked as late arrivals turned away.
Excellent food and service! I will definitely return.
The food was amazing and so so so worth the money. Great little place with a fab atmosphere
A very enjoyable dining experience with very friendly and attentive staff and a menu which was variable accommodating a variety of tastes. The food was excellent.
Very friendly and attentive staff, excellent food with good menu choices for veggies as well as meat-eaters. We were there after a rugby match and it was packed out and loud but the service was still outstanding despite the busy-ness. Very good value for a meal for 7 people and all were content with their food. Would recommend and we will return next time we’re in Edinburgh!
A cosy little place. The food was really good and there was a nice atmosphere.
We had a great time on our first visit to The Olive Branch. Will definitely be back.
Great brunch and excellent staff. Good choice of food
We had eaten here some time ago and thought it was very good. However, today, it seemed no more than ok. We had the shoulder of lamb which was quite fatty and the broccoli could have had just another minute cooking. Quantities had increased from previously but so had prices, so that the meal turned out to be quite costly and didn’t give value for money. However the crumble was very tasty and the proportions of crumble to fruit and ice cream was good .
I booked The Olive Branch as a brunch for my husband and I.
The food was fresh and made quickly, the staff were brilliant when we arrived around 20 minutes earlier than booked!
To say The Olive Branch is only small, it definitely packs a punch in decor, food, drink and service. I would definitely recommend booking in advance if you want to dine as many people were turned away - a testament to how good it is!
Enjoyed a lovely meal here. The service was excellent and the food lovely.
Friendly staff, comfort food, good place for pre-theatre, handy for the Playhouse.
Lovely lunch dreadful weather outside. People coming in and leaving the door open a bit annoying. It was very busy indeed. On the whole well worth four stars all round.
My partner and I were wondering where to go and heard of them. We decided to give a try and food was really good, tasty and good portions, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff were polite and friendly.
An enjoyable meal with a fusion twist in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Excellent meal. Scallop starter was so tasty we ordered another one.
Chicken main was delicious as was the steak.
Dark chocolate sticky toffee pudding was superb and a nice variation on the classic dessert.
Lovely cosy bistro. Went before show at the Playhouse and no issues with service. Cheesecake was to die for 😋
Will be back
Lovely food and service good value to we had a nice relaxed supper
Cosy, delicious and good value. Would definitely recommend.
Great atmosphere and wonderful food. 2nd visit with different friends we all enjoyed this restaurant.
