The Olive Tree
The Olive Tree is a comfortable venue for a nice Sunday lunch - not too busy when we arrived and picturesque with a pleasant courtyard garden for outdoor dining.
Food was acceptable-to-good however there was a bit of a lack of "the trimmings" for our roasts as they'd been busy and run out of portions. Not great planning - especially as I suspect the Yorkshires are frozen since, if they are genuinely homemade, how can you run out? That was a pretty poor aspect.
Secondary to that - it took an absolute age to clear the table, in fact they didn't;t and I simply piled up the empty crockery and cutlery and placed them on an adjacent vacated table. Not a great service from that point of view, but the staff were otherwise generally friendly and polite.
Arriving a wee bit weary from a local country walk, the bar staff were welcoming despite being under obvious pressure from a 'fine day', Sunday lunch crowd.
Had to wait 30 mins because of the crowd, but a cool drink passed that time and ('Bliss !') the music wasn't intrusive. (What disease afflicts restaurants these days to have to pound your ears into your dinner ?).
Sunday lunch very good and plentiful (and made pudding, unfortunately, excessive).
All good. Thanks, 'Olive Tree'.
Wonderful evening loved Jak attentive friendly and cheerful a delight! Good food also 😀
The staff were very good at checking as one of our party had certain food intolerance Unfortunately the service was really slow on this occasion and although lovely food, the delay meant our main course was cold! There was also a long delay in serving desserts and the coffee came 15 mins before. We had to ask several times for our food. Hence the poor review!
Ridiculous amount of time we had to wait for our main courses with no apologies whatsoever. If it hadn't been the fact it was my son's birthday, we would have left.
Always good, always dependable, food first class and definitely my most favourite watering hole! "Matron" looks after us superbly and all the staff seem friendly and efficient.
9 golfers with very varying tastes and everyone came away happy.
Excellent. Particular thanks to Jack who was extremely helpful and sensitive to our needs. Thank you 😊
The food is always really enjoyable here and the drinks are great. If it’s not busy, the bartender will talk to you about your order and what he recommends, very thorough. The only negative thing I can say about this pub is that the service is incredibly slow, every time I eat there, which is a shame. We ordered at 2:15 and our food came at 3. I do appreciate everything is cooked fresh, however I’ve never had a pork belly take 45 mins. It’s such a shame as it’s a lovely pub, great friendly staff and food, just wouldn’t recommend if you have somewhere to be!!
Great food. Bit noisy at Sunday lunch. Overall enjoyable experience.
The overall quality of the food was good but over priced and the service was poor staff too busy checking their phones
We had a fantastic night at the Olive Tree, starting with a lovely rhubarb and ginger gin cocktail. The food was lovely and the service excellent. This was our first visit but certainly won’t be our last.
We both chose dishes from the "specials" menu and had the most delicious meal we have had for a long time.
Fantastic pub with great food and customer service
Although I would still recommend this restaurant I would advise anyone to check where you will be seated.
On arrival we were taken to the end of the bar area and seem to have been forgotten about. I had to go the the bar to ask for our order to be taken. I then noticed that there was plenty of room in the main restaurant and when asked to be move there they prepared a table for us.
I am at a loss as to why we weren't seated there in the first place as it was half empty and no more people came in during out stay. There was actually a table free which hadn't even been laid!
Other than that the food was very good and very reasonably priced.
