Terrific all round - great food great service thoroughly recommended
Very good food and excellent service. Well set up to deal with current restrictions and very easy to book on-line.
Loved the Hake & Prawn curry, beautifully presented. The fish & chips was good, excellent crisp batter, although I would have preferred proper chips & not fries.
Good Mud pie & mash.
Rather lacking on the deserts , the crumble was off, so just Cheesecake or Brownie , both Ok.
Excellent heated marquee, great for meeting friends .
As usual a lovely meal good service and we all felt very COVID safe would thoroughly recommend
Another fantastic meal at the Olive Tree this week! Couldn’t recommend the Hake curry more, it was superb as always but it’s definitely a favourite!
Service was very friendly but veggie burger was not very hot when it arrived.
Felt my coleslaw could have been a bit bigger!
i COME TO YOUR ESTABLISHMENT BECAUSE IT IS NEAR AND i LIKE FISH AND CHIPS. BUT YOU HAVE STARTED TO SERVE SOME SORT OF PROCESSED CHIPS WHICH I DO NOT PREFER AND THIS WOULD INFLUENCE MY DECISION TO COME AGAIN
Great food, really helpful staff and felt very COVID safe with measures put in place.
The last time I had Sunday lunch at The Olive Tree it was fantastic. This time not so much. To be fair they’ve adapted well by erecting a heated marquee which is classed as outside dining, much more comfortable than we’d anticipated and the friendly staff did a great job ferrying food and drinks in from the main pub. My gripe was the food. Having been told that the beef would come rare we were disappointed to find that it had probably been sitting under a heat lamp or similar and didn’t look too appetising. The veg (a mealy portion) looked quite anaemic and not terribly well presented. The last time we had a lovely assortment of vegetables served separately. My friend had to ask for extra gravy. On the whole it wasn’t terrible but not sure I’d rush back for the Sunday roast which is a shame as it’s so local for us. Would recommend generally and maybe would be a better experience to dine in the main pub
Lovely meal and service as always.
Mulled cider was welcome.
Met 2 friends in your outside Marquee for lunch. Warm, socially distanced and great service. The beer was good as well
Lovely Gastropub, just a few mins off of the A3, lovely staff, friendly and helpful. Covid times make it difficult to get out to meet loved ones or to even take the family out- the staff here have everything to offer and totally Covid compliant - Bubbles inside and a marquee outside, all catered for, food was delicious, highly recommend and will definitely be going back = thanks Olive Tree, see you soon :)
Have been coming for a long time really nice to be back. Only complaint was I found the music too intrusive as the inside of the marque was lively and busy and didn't really need it so loud
Fantastic food and service.
It was cold in the restaurant due to door opening as a way through to outside eating area.
Lovely as always. We sat in the outside tent area, which was well heated and decorated for Christmas. Will be back again in the New Year.
Great food and also ability to be outside under canvas
Came last year for our pre Christmas get together, different this year though. Food still excellent, room got very cold when door was left open and no real atmosphere as we were in a section on our own. Still good value for money and would go back tomorrow.
Lovely warm welcome, the pub looked very pretty and ready for Christmas. The menu was amazin - we settled on whitebait to start and then Prawn and Hake Curry and the Pork Belly. All were excellent, but my husband commented that the Curry was one of the best he had ever had! The crumble that followed was to die for! We will be back as soon as we can, as loads to choose from! The Manager and his team deserve every success.
Very good food. Drinks service was good but food service was very slow.
Great to be able to dine with friends in the garden marquee. Thanks for the effort to make this possible. Pleased to support this initiative.
Hannah who served us was a lovely girl! Would definitely come back again, excellent food and excellent service
We have visited the olive tree over the years for Sunday roasts which have always been amazing, however on this occasion we were left disappointed. The food was lovley, but the Olive Tree charm wasn’t there- the Yorkshire puddings were clearly not home made and the portions were far less then we’d ever experienced before- there was a huge lack of vegetables and only a small spoon of cauliflower cheese. We did request extra veg which arrived but we felt let down compared to what we had hoped and expected from the Olive Tree on our first visit back.
Nice place and nice food but small portions when compared with similar places locally. Not overly expensive but, as we left still hungry after sunday lunch and puddings, it didn't feel like great value.
Serving staff were very nice and friendly but didn't seem to know much about the menu (we asked about Christmas and they didn't know, we asked about childrens menu also and they didn't know).
When the bill came, the credit card machine asked if I would like to leave a tip (which I would have done) however the service charge was already included on the bill (which I think is awful as it should be down to the customer and in response to excellent service) - I don't think its appropriate to be asked about a tip full stop, but certainly not when one is already included.
Final point, it was awfully cold in the venue - I appreciate COVID has reduced numbers and this leaves larger venues feeling empty but its December in England and a fire or some heating would go a long way.
I would go back, but not my first choice in Guildford.
The food we had was very nice - just proper sunday lunch portions please.
Lovely food
Very impressed, fantastic! We will be back here again very soon!
Quiet rural pub with pleasant attentive staff. Standard fare food - very nice olive nibbles - and decent beer (Hogsback Tea a favourite). One of the family’s favourite easy going ‘go to’ pubs around Guildford along with its ‘sister’, The Dog and Pheasant.
Food was great and the service was impeccable.
Went on first day of new restrictions. ate inside with just our household. was quiet but food was lovely. staff friendly and helpful.
Excellent food. Very secure with Covid safety. Staff very friendly, excellent service a very nice lunch out.
Good distance between tables. Well cooked food which is always dependable.
Easy to follow reservation procedure and for COVID19 restrictions.
Prompt and pleasant service.
Warm and comfortable and good food nicely presented.
Due to Civid-19 we have taken to undertake regular walks and taking in a number eating establishments on our way round. We checked their web site and decided to book a table,
It was the best place that we had visited and intend visiting again (unfortunately due to the latest lock down not for 4 weeks) I would recommended to all.
Another fantastic visit to the olive tree!
Absolutely perfect roast beef dinner had by all and the chocolate brownie dessert was to die for!
Cannot fault The Olive Tree, great food, great atmosphere and brilliant staff!
Best pork roast dinner ever!
An excellent Sunday roast which I can highly recommend. We took our dog and well accommodated seated in the bar area
Amazing food and great service
lovely place to eat.Been a few times and never dissapointed.
Evening meals enjoyed by wife and I, served by friendly staff.
Food was pretty good but overpriced. Small sized portion, couldn't get more sides as with a lot of pub roasts.
Awful service. Sat waiting for a long time on multiple occasions - was going to order dessert but put sat waiting for too long so got the bill. Then had to go to the bar to pay the bill as they took so long to come back.
A shame as the pub is in a nice area and had a nice atmosphere to it. Might give it one more chance as the food was alright but far better pubs around based on that experience.
Had a great lunch outside, heaters kept us warm, good service, would recommend for a Sunday lunch.
