Celebrating a birthday with my wife. Lovely setting, great service, and nice food. Made for a pleasant experience.
Always a pleasure to eat here the staff are really nice attentive and friendly. The outlook is magnificent as is the palace and grounds. just love going there.
Our lunch in the Orangerie was a very lovely experience. We enjoyed the surroundings and view into the gardens. The service was good and staff welcoming. It was particularly nice as the restaurant was quiet and there were no uncontrolled children. It felt very relaxed and away from the bustle of the other eateries.
The food was delicious. I enjoyed the vegetarian option.
Relaxed. Not rushed. Great service, food & value. Very enjoyable.
Thank you for the experience and the food was really good, however, not so happy with the service and the treatment.
I visited the Orangery with 2 friends and had the Standard afternoon Tea on the menu. When the sandwiches arrived, all of us noticed that they were off and we politely declined these. When this was brought to the attention of the staff we were given alternative sandwiches. They were polite about this however one of the staff members approached this in a rather passive-aggressive way bu stating “ Here you go, sorry the eggs sandwiches weren’t to your liking”. I don’t think eggs that are out of date are to anyones liking?
Apart from that the cakes were delicious and the scones too!
They even offer, at the end, to take a slice of cake home with you. These are by the entrance and are bot the best but a nice touch nevertheless
Dear Andre, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We can guarantee that all the sandwiches are made fresh each morning but apologies for the waiter comments. Hope you will give us another chance in the future. Looking forward to welcoming you again. Regards The Orangery Team
The staff were excellent very attentive. The food not so brilliant. Afternoon tea, the sandwiches were not of the best, the scones looked awful but were quite delicious and the cakes/pastries were mostly of chocolate and not very appetising.
One of the worst parts of my visit was an E-mail the next morning admonishing me for not attending my reservation.
Dear TerryH, Thank you for your comment about afternoon tea, we will pass these to our chefs. We are serving a William Curley chocolate based afternoon tea hence why all the cakes are mostly made with chocolate. Let me apologise about the email you received as this is should have not happened. Hope you will visit us again in the future. The orangery team.
This was a birthday celebration and we found the standard of both food and service was just right for the occasion. We particularly like d the level and style of the background music. Our particular lead waiter was friendly and informed.
Perfect day out!
KathleenV, Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and that the lead waiter was friendly. We are all looking forward to welcoming you again in the future. Regards The Orangery Team
It was Monday afternoon and myself and my elderly friend were the only ones there and so there was no ambiance at all - we felt a but daft sat there all alone! £34 was very expensive for an afternoon tea and, although tasty, it wasn't outstanding. My elderly friend wanted to pay but I was too embarrassed to let her know how much it was and paid myself. I'm sure that there would be a much greater uptake and thus a more vibrant atmosphere, if the price point for the was more sensible (£20ish) and affordable and then day visitors might think, ' let's treat ourselves' . It would also mean less waste - you must have to throw so much out! Our waiter was helpful and attentive.
The food etc was humdrum, there was no atmosphere and elements like furniture and general surrounding looked dated and everything felt settled for, they know we're just tourists to the Palace. Not worth £36 for afternoon tea, more like £18 in terms of quality & atmosphere (no music, no table cloths, plain china, drabby furniture etc). But Service was excellent, the young staff were very nice and helpful.
Dear RiShu, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We will pass all your comment about your experience to our General manager and we are very happy to hear that the service was excellent. Regards The Orangery Team
My husband and I visited The Orangery, for afternoon tea, recently. We were disappointed and didn’t think the experience was value for money.
The music playing in the background wasn’t suitable. Surely, an experience like this should be accompanied by classical music to set the scene.
We ordered a second coffee and the waiter forgot our order which was annoying. The waiting staff were very polite though.
The cakes were nothing amazing as we had expected and again, not worth the money. We have paid less for much the same.
Staff were very friendly but the tables had no tablecloth thus looked very bare. The food was fine - just not worth the price. Very poor ☹️
The service was very efficient and unobtrusive. We had champagne afternoon high tea. The edges of the rarebit toast were slightly burnt but not enough to impair the flavour. Overall expensive (London prices) but an enjoyable experience.
Went there for lunch. Food is average but lovely palace and gardens and good service.
Beautiful location to better enjoy afternoon tea! The tea was perfect with a good assortment of sandwiches and cakes. Included in the price is the addition of a desert table. Cakes however where a little dry so what could have been a 5 start reduced to 4. Service however was very good and friendly
Orangery Blenheim was very nice, great service, food nice, however, it is very overpriced !!
I would only book again if it was a special occasion, as this was, my mums 80th birthday
Pleasant welcome, good service, interesting menu. Presentation and flavours up to the usual high standard. Thanks
A very enjoyable day. Unfortunately, the house and formal gardens were closed. Due to a burglary, that happened in the early hours. We will go back again.
Our champagne afternoon tea was given as a present. The champagne was not cold. Although the head waiter did say ask for more you should not leave hungry, we were left unattended. Normally in a premium priced establishment such as this, I would have expected a member of staff to regularly ask if we wished more tea, tea loses its heat quickly!
I felt that the serving of afternoon tea was a low priority, between the main meals.
The waiter was clumsy plonking the plate down on the cutlery instead of firstly introducing the dish to the table and then making room for the plate. Then on leaving the area they took two steps back and walked into another table. The view however was nice and the general atmosphere was good although when advertised it appears to be a place where you should dress up a bit for the occasion, when in actual fact you can just rock up wearing scruffy shorts, t-shirt and sandles. On a more important note the food was good, although the extras were certainly pricey £4 for mineral water and £3 for bread.
Overall it was a nice experience, but I think it's slightly overpriced. The sandwiches were lovely and the scones were divine, however having 1 tiny pot of clotted cream was not enough for 4 scones. I don't think it's necessary to have a huge slice from the cake table to take away (even though it tasted lovely the next day), I can't imagine anyone can eat that after the other food. I'd rather they dropped the price by £2 or £3 and didn't bother with it. The service wasn't great, it wasn't overly busy but it was very hard to grab a servers attention and no-one asked if everything was ok and did we want more tea at any point. Also beware of the service charge, £8.50 was added onto our bill so it made 2 afternoon teas rather expensive.
A very enjoyable experience. The reason that I dropped 1 star is I thought that white tablecloths would be so much better than the laminated wooden table top.
Rosie was incredible, she always tried her best to go above and beyond to help. Her and Frankie made the experience special beyond compare. Perhaps an option of jam would be a nice touch for next time. Other than that I found it affordable and will be coming back
Had an excellent time, Mums 80th and she was well impressed. Nothing was to much trouble, waitrons all very attentive. Food quality was excellent.
We loved our visit to The Orangery. Very attentive and courteous staff gave a pleasant and efficient service; the selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones was delicious (though a little garnish would improve the presentation of the sandwiches); and the room is delightful, lending itself to a very relaxing experience.
The first staff member we encountered was brusque and cool but Fergus has excellent interpersonal skills which should inform his progress. Sandwiches: good. Scones: superb. Small cakes: slightly disappointing but naybe our expectations were too high.
A birthday group's noise didn't enhance our experience.
Whilst the setting of the castle and the Orangery itself is lovely, I was rather disappointed with the quality of the afternoon tea.
The portions were generous and we were offered a box to take home the cakes which we didn't finish, which was great.
However, the sandwiches and cakes were mediocre and not of a particularly great quality. The bread was not of a good quality either and the sandwiches not very tidily prepared. The small cakes were also very average and did not taste particularly fresh. The lemon macaroons, whilst actually more tasty than the other cakes, differed greatly in size: as a table of two, we were served two macaroons, one of which was of half the thickness of the other: The scones were very good and the pots of tea that we ordered were both good.
The service was good, staff were polite and friendly.
Afternoon tea is a particular favourite of mine; I have paid a similar amount per person at other establishments, and the quality of the food was disappointing at The Orangery.
Lovely lunch at the orangery. Service would have been marked higher but there was an issue with the bill when I was wrong. Glad we checked. Rectified without an issue but still sightly marred the overall experience.
This was our 3rd visit for lunch. The previous occasions were better with better menu. Selection very limited and lamb dish proved 50% fat. Service friendly but bill was £50 over charged with errors. Value for money only average. Ambience and table fine. May try afternoon tea next time which looked good.
Very high price for an afternoon réa.
We were close to a noisy Group
Food was ok but not excellent
Excellent meal, lovely setting.
Lovely atmosphere, discreet and efficient staff, lovely food and champagne. They had even iced on the cake plate Happy 60th wedding anniversary, which was a lovely touch for my parents. Boxes supplied to take home the delicious cakes we could not eat. Would definitely recommend a visit to friends and family.
This was a joint birthday meal with 3 friends. When the we told the waitress why we were there. On our desert plates Happy Birthday was written on all 3 plates in chocolate It was a lovely touch. The only negative is we had to ask for the food mess under our chairs to be cleared and I noticed a long hair over a foot under another tables chair
Outstanding meal, wonderful service on a beautiful setting. Tough to beat anywhere in London.
We loved the food and the service in this wonderful restaurant
Food was lovely service from staff could have been better we had the £36 tea which we had Welsh rarebit &eggs benedict and the plates were not cleared away when we had finished there was not a lot of room on the table we were not told about helping your self to the extra cake on the table it was only when I asked for a box the waiter said we could help our self to cake there was no disabled toilet which my self and my sister in law had to help my 99 year old mum down the stairs and back up again her mobility is not good and her eye site is poor you have the lift to take people in wheelchair up to the table nobody asked us if we needed help to take her to the toilet or even if there was a disable toilet we enjoyed the tea and the lovely surrounding of Blenheim palace we were celebrating my mums 99th birthday of which I think she enjoyed it
Service was a little slow, with the finishing touches unrefined (eg open a water bottle but don’t pour, no jam and cream brought with scones, no topping up of glasses, not knowing what items are on the high tea table when asked, not explaining the high tea food when presented). Staff are willing to please but perhaps need some more upfront training for the attention to detail expected for a high tea/champagne high tea
Such a beautiful venue in a delightful setting! My friend and I had a lovely relaxing time while taking afternoon tea at The Orangery. Service was excellent, we were well looked after. Such a lovely atmosphere too! Only downside was my lactose intolerance meant I was given a vegan afternoon tea which wasn’t very tasty, and I left half of it as it was so bland (vegetable sandwiches aren’t really my cup of tea). I think they played my afternoon tea a bit too safe, so it wasn’t worth the money. My friend’s nut free afternoon tea was delicious apparently, and the normal versions we saw being given to other diners looked amazing! I would recommend The Orangery to anyone who isn’t lactose intolerant as we certainly felt looked after there.
Very good day finished with an excellent tea and free extra cakes to take home
We had a warm welcome. I contacted them in advance that I was allergic to fish and my party was a vegetarian.
I was a little disappointed to find that I was unable to have any meat fillings for my sandwiches as they were stored next to fish dishes. As I did inform them prior to my arrival I would have loved to have eaten a selector sandwiches not just the vegetarian option.
