We were greeted with a warm welcome and the service was very friendly and professional. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were all excellent. We got at box for the cakes we were not able to eat + an extra piece of cake from the cake table. A very good practice since I expect the uneaten cakes would have been thrown away otherwise. However, the restaurant lacks a little bit of the more elegant details to achieve top score.
At first glance the orangery is an elegant venue, on closer inspection it was tatty and tired. Stains on most of the chair seat pads and no linen on the tables
Expectations were high with the cost of £34 per person for afternoon tea, although the sandwiches scones etc were freshly made it was box standard and with minimal trimmings.
We were not advised by the waiting-on staff that we could request more tea nor were we advised that our tea also included a slice of cake from the central display table.
I’m afraid we would not recommend this to friends or family.
Fab food friendly service and so helpful. Really impressed by all the different teas.
This was a present from lovely friends - the meal was better than our expectations - the staff were lovely, friendly and relaxed.
The food was amazing, beautifully presented and very tasty too.
Can’t fault it - 10/10
Booked with a best friend for lunch, really lovely. Food gorgeous, service good by Immy. Asked for table by the windows to overlook Italian Garden..... all good except there was a huge draft coming from the vents in the floor in front of us. Really cold air, but not bad enough to ask to be moved. Otherwise all really nice
Beautiful setting, gorgeous setting and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely fabulous thank you so much!
Afternoon Tea at the Orangery was very pleasant, glad we booked a deal as otherwise very over priced, lots of empty tables an indication of an expensive treat! Service was good, food was tasty but not exceptional, not the wow factor we were expecting.
Set in the surroundings of the impressive Blenheim Palace it is maybe seems a little out of place - you would be wrong. What is surprising is the quality of the food and thoughtfulness poured into the menu. Celeriac Soup with Hazelnut and truffle oil - what a delight!
And to follow a cod loin on braised cabbage and spring onions. I dropped the carb ( potatoes ) and the plate was no worse for it. The cod sublime- the chef knows how to cook fish!
Worth a visit and the bonus of walking off the indulgence of lunch around such beautiful surroundings.
Ambience was a little noisy - even when not full but you do dine in an Orangery - we can forgive that!
My friends and I had a wonderful experience at the Orangery. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The chef even made a special happy birthday plate for my friend. She was very touched and it made the day for us. Thank you. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed a delicious meal in the elegantly serene environment of the Orangery with beautiful views of the autumnal colours in the Park. Friendly and attentive service contributed to our enjoyment of the experience. One criticism: the filter coffee was too weak and not quite hot enough. Half the quantity and twice the strength would have been better.
We are enjoyed the ambiance, the venue, the service and excellent food. A little bit too expensive for lunch to do on a regular basis, but as a treat, bloomin marvellous.
You also get the fantastic view of the Blenheim Lake as you drive up to the special parking area. What a way to start a great lunch!
The food was lovely. The temperature in the room was a little chilly - maybe because of the horrible weather. Service was ok, but could have been better although waiters were pleasant.
We went to celebrate my Husband's birthday with my children. Despite being rainy day, we all enjoyed the food and experience. Would recommend this restaurant for sure.
We had a really nice 2 course lunch in the orangary, all food was excellent, being well presented and very flavoursome. Staff were attentive and polite, all in all very good
The food got a 3 star because we didn't stay to taste it. We sat down and the room was cold and lifeless. No atmosphere or even music to break the dull silence. We were positioned next to a window for a good view but all we could see were hedges and all we could feel was the cold draft that blew through. The service was horrendous. We should of known when someone in the queue to pay said to take the service charge off before we sat down. We didn't even get our table water despite having been sat down for near 20 minutes. They weren't ready for our arrival despite prebooking and the place being empty. We had to keep our coats on the entire time as it was so cold! We decided to leave before ordering as you wasted enough of our time. The waiter was polite but it felt like he was running the whole place on his own
My daughter broke her foot a couple of weeks ago and is housebound. A trip to the Orangery was the perfect treat to ease her boredom and frustration. Lovely sandwiches, scones and cakes with a small but perfectly chosen tea selection. We were served by some very pleasant waiters who were happy to help us. Super afternoon had by all. I especially liked the additional touch of a cake choice to take home with us once we’d finished our meal. Will visit again soon.
Lovely sunday lunch, excellent food - thank you to the chef and his team
Service was excellent from Tony on the desk, to the staff overseeing to make sure all was good and the guy (who served us from Yorkshire - sorry didn't catch your name) he gave us excellent recommendations and looked after us and the other tables to a very high standard
Would highly recommend as a special meal or just an excuse for a treat
thank you very much - its always lovely to have a meal here
Delicious food but service slow - not enough waiters
The Orangery is the only place I have been able to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea as I can't eat dairy or gluten. I e-mailed the restaurant ahead of time and they responded immediately. They were extremely accommodating and I was able to have an amazing tea, scones and all without worrying about my food allergies. Would highly recommend!
Wonderful food, attentive service and the manager even picked up that this was a Golden Wedding celebration. Highly recommended.
The Orangary was a little cold, the chairs hard and the table was too small for four people so we were constantly shuffling plates, teapots, cups and saucers around to make room. Our waitress was very good and helpful. The food was good but not exceptional.
The whole experience was excellent The staff were very smart and looked after us. The only let down was the weather with heavy showers. If the sun had been shining the event would have been perfect. I know you can’t control the weather so perhaps on another day that side of things will be better. Thank you a afternoon to remember
Enjoyable afternoon tea, in elegant setting. Delicious tea, scones and cream. Lovely occasion weloming our manager from overseas to enjoy a fabulous day out and team get together.
Beautiful venue. The experience was lovely . However I’ve had more refined and imaginative afternoon teas.
Celebrating a birthday with my wife. Lovely setting, great service, and nice food. Made for a pleasant experience.
Always a pleasure to eat here the staff are really nice attentive and friendly. The outlook is magnificent as is the palace and grounds. just love going there.
Our lunch in the Orangerie was a very lovely experience. We enjoyed the surroundings and view into the gardens. The service was good and staff welcoming. It was particularly nice as the restaurant was quiet and there were no uncontrolled children. It felt very relaxed and away from the bustle of the other eateries.
The food was delicious. I enjoyed the vegetarian option.
Relaxed. Not rushed. Great service, food & value. Very enjoyable.
Thank you for the experience and the food was really good, however, not so happy with the service and the treatment.
I visited the Orangery with 2 friends and had the Standard afternoon Tea on the menu. When the sandwiches arrived, all of us noticed that they were off and we politely declined these. When this was brought to the attention of the staff we were given alternative sandwiches. They were polite about this however one of the staff members approached this in a rather passive-aggressive way bu stating “ Here you go, sorry the eggs sandwiches weren’t to your liking”. I don’t think eggs that are out of date are to anyones liking?
Apart from that the cakes were delicious and the scones too!
They even offer, at the end, to take a slice of cake home with you. These are by the entrance and are bot the best but a nice touch nevertheless
Dear Andre, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We can guarantee that all the sandwiches are made fresh each morning but apologies for the waiter comments. Hope you will give us another chance in the future. Looking forward to welcoming you again. Regards The Orangery Team
The staff were excellent very attentive. The food not so brilliant. Afternoon tea, the sandwiches were not of the best, the scones looked awful but were quite delicious and the cakes/pastries were mostly of chocolate and not very appetising.
One of the worst parts of my visit was an E-mail the next morning admonishing me for not attending my reservation.
Dear TerryH, Thank you for your comment about afternoon tea, we will pass these to our chefs. We are serving a William Curley chocolate based afternoon tea hence why all the cakes are mostly made with chocolate. Let me apologise about the email you received as this is should have not happened. Hope you will visit us again in the future. The orangery team.
This was a birthday celebration and we found the standard of both food and service was just right for the occasion. We particularly like d the level and style of the background music. Our particular lead waiter was friendly and informed.
Perfect day out!
KathleenV, Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and that the lead waiter was friendly. We are all looking forward to welcoming you again in the future. Regards The Orangery Team
It was Monday afternoon and myself and my elderly friend were the only ones there and so there was no ambiance at all - we felt a but daft sat there all alone! £34 was very expensive for an afternoon tea and, although tasty, it wasn't outstanding. My elderly friend wanted to pay but I was too embarrassed to let her know how much it was and paid myself. I'm sure that there would be a much greater uptake and thus a more vibrant atmosphere, if the price point for the was more sensible (£20ish) and affordable and then day visitors might think, ' let's treat ourselves' . It would also mean less waste - you must have to throw so much out! Our waiter was helpful and attentive.
The food etc was humdrum, there was no atmosphere and elements like furniture and general surrounding looked dated and everything felt settled for, they know we're just tourists to the Palace. Not worth £36 for afternoon tea, more like £18 in terms of quality & atmosphere (no music, no table cloths, plain china, drabby furniture etc). But Service was excellent, the young staff were very nice and helpful.
Dear RiShu, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We will pass all your comment about your experience to our General manager and we are very happy to hear that the service was excellent. Regards The Orangery Team
My husband and I visited The Orangery, for afternoon tea, recently. We were disappointed and didn’t think the experience was value for money.
The music playing in the background wasn’t suitable. Surely, an experience like this should be accompanied by classical music to set the scene.
We ordered a second coffee and the waiter forgot our order which was annoying. The waiting staff were very polite though.
The cakes were nothing amazing as we had expected and again, not worth the money. We have paid less for much the same.
Staff were very friendly but the tables had no tablecloth thus looked very bare. The food was fine - just not worth the price. Very poor ☹️
The service was very efficient and unobtrusive. We had champagne afternoon high tea. The edges of the rarebit toast were slightly burnt but not enough to impair the flavour. Overall expensive (London prices) but an enjoyable experience.
Went there for lunch. Food is average but lovely palace and gardens and good service.
Beautiful location to better enjoy afternoon tea! The tea was perfect with a good assortment of sandwiches and cakes. Included in the price is the addition of a desert table. Cakes however where a little dry so what could have been a 5 start reduced to 4. Service however was very good and friendly
Orangery Blenheim was very nice, great service, food nice, however, it is very overpriced !!
I would only book again if it was a special occasion, as this was, my mums 80th birthday
