I had read a couple of reviews and very nearly cancelled.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves . The only issue may have been the level of music as we were there for dinner and a chat , but nonetheless a great experience and I would go back !
Hi Jax, Thank you for leaving us a review, its so nice to receive some feedback as it helps us to continually improve our service. We hope to see you again soon.
The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, drinks and food was also great
A bit slow to serve us at first, as we were on our hour lunch break, so had to make them aware of this. Very accommodating after that, and got a glass of water even though we didn't ask for one, which was nice. The food was lovely but bit disappointed we had to order veg as a side order. We paid the bill quickly and I would definitely return and recommend this place for dining.
They said they didn’t have my reservation but we were still seated fine and the food was good. Atmosphere also good, quiet.
Was excellent for a while after it opened. But has gone downhill since. Asked about specials clipped to menu "Sorry, we don't have that item anymore." Then don't clip it to the menu or cross out items no longer on the specials menu! Burger was average. Paid the £1 extra to "upgrade" my fries to Louisiana fries (i.e. with cajun spice). Was just ordinary fries, over which they waved a cajun spice jar for a millisecond. Top three fries had a very light dusting of cajun spice - rest were ordinary fries. Don't bother paying the £1 to upgrade. Took our plates & said would come back to take coffee orders. Gave up waiting & asked for the bill.
Good food and service, great for business meal. Good value too
I was looking forward to trying The Otherist for a while, but I was disappointed. The main issue with the restaurant itself is that there is no real separation between the drinker and the diners. We were expecting a nice date night, where we could talk and enjoy a nice meal together. However we were placed in the bar area to eat our meal, on a small table which was wobbly, and literally in the middle of a lot of very loud, standing drinkers. We felt very much out of place on what should have been a table for drinkers/bar food... not people trying to enjoy a full on meal.
We ordered one glass of champagne which was flat when it arrived so we had to send it back. That is a warning sign for me. If you have champagne on the menu, at least check that it is a fresh bottle... not a great start.
To make matters worse, when it came to ordering (via. shouting at the waitress so she could hear us), we were told that they didn't have half the menu! We tried to order the squid and satay chicken... out of that. Then the waitress left and came back and we tried to order the duck flat bread instead... were informed they were out of that. Came to order the mains... no rib eye steak and they only had 2 of the desserts on the menu! The waitress said it was because they were changing their menu which was irritating because they had no substitutes (and I wouldn't have picked this restaurant if I had known), and secondly we were not told when we were given the menus. We weren't even told when the waitress tried to take the order- she just kept waiting for us to mention the ones they didn't have before admitting 'oh, we don't have that'.
The service in general was poor. If you're looking for a nice meal- do not come here on a Friday night. It was chaos, with extremely loud drunk people drinking around our table, average food, limited menu and overall poor experience.
I am pregnant and my feet were killing me- otherwise we would have left.
Although a table was booked through Open Table and confirmation was received there was no record of it at the restaurant. They managed to find a table but behaved as though the problem was ours!!!
This is more of a pub with food rather than a restaurant. Very small tables for eating on. As it was a Friday it was very noisy with a group party. We didn’t mind that though. The waitress as great.
