The Ox Barn is a 56-seater destination restaurant under the direction of Head Chef, Charlie Hibbert. Rooted in a passion for the local land, food and entertaining, the carefully curated menus are farm-based and plant-inspired. His team and the gardeners at Thyme work together to select and grow the fruits, vegetables and herbs used to create his Modern British Countryside fare.

The nineteenth century former oxen house is the newest addition to the family of meticulously restored farm buildings. A state-of-the-art piece of agricultural architecture at its conception, Caryn Hibbert worked meticulously to preserve the soaring archways and original Cotswold stone rubble walls, to now house a modern, dining destination - including a contemporary bar and seven and a half metre Charvet open kitchen - to allow for an authentic, heritage-rich dining experience, enabled by today’s best culinary technologies.

We have been to the Ox Barn several times before. But, at lunchtime on Tuesday, we found the music too noisy, and inappropriate. When vocalists were part of the music, they intruded on our lunch and, as a result, quite often, I couldn’t hear our lady guest.

Lovely food fixed menu esp pear cheese and hazelnut salad , also venison polpetti and breast of duck. Rice pudding was a bit cool and not quite creamy enough. I did eat it all though! Atmosphere was good but only half full. Had a very enjoyable time there.

As usual, fabulous. The food was delicious and seasonal and the service was great. Many thanks to our very friendly waiter (James?) who was great at explaining the menu to our younger guests, and made us feel really at home and comfortable.

For some silly reason I thought dogs were allowed in the restaurant !!! Clearly not and I was a bit phased as it was a Sunday and very hard to find an alternative.. however the manager was a gem.. he offered us the full menu in the bar area and to be honest it was delightful .. we had the whole bar to ourselves with the most delightful lady there who was so accommodating.. our lunch was just as delicious as the last one we had there and the restaurant staff were wonderful .. might end up in there again!

First visit to the Ox Barn, we were impressed by the surroundings and the food was delicious. The music was too loud initially but to be fair most of the clientele was considerably younger than us, however, we asked our server if it could be turned down a bit and they acted on our request immediately. Only complaint - signage wasn’t very good.

You have to be prepared to drive down country lanes, but once you are there it is well worth it. We were there for lunch I had the prix fixe menu whist my wife had a sandwich. Though the club sandwich was a bit expensive my wife thought it was the best club sandwich ever, possibly THE best sandwich ever, and the chips were great. The service was very attentive but not overwhelming, we felt very welcome. The barn itself is comfortable. The sheep made it, you'll have to go there to see what I mean. We will definitely be back for dinner soon

We went for lunch on a Friday. The menu was a prix fixe - hadn't looked at the website enough to notice - which was really rather limited - two options for each of the three courses. The food was fine, but no more than average. But Thyme is a real destination and we will go back - eating outside in the summer must be lovely. For dinner next time though! For a Friday it was very quiet, so the ambiance was on the low side, although it did not detract from how nice the surroundings were.

The food and service was all great but all our side orders came out a lot later than our main dishes and therefore had been finished before our potatoes and greens came out. That was my only fault.

Utterly fabulous, from the moment you walk in you are extremely well looked after. The food is exquisite and the waiting staff are knowledgeable, polite and notably friendly. Thyme is mesmerisingly beautiful and the perfect relaxed retreat.

James, who served us, was great throughout, very friendly and helpful. My wife's choices (truffle with pasta followed by brilliant Brill) were excellent, mine weren't quite as successful (peach with thin slivers of pig cheek etc followed by lamb) but overall it could simply be wrong choices by me from the relatively limited menu of 5 for each course. Having said all that, we will return as it was a special place and maybe next time will be for lunch and a wander around the 150 acre gardens!

A pleasant restaurant in a beautiful setting. I don't feel a burning urge to return... The food was good but certainly a little overpriced, as was the wine. We visited on a Friday lunchtime and it was almost empty, however it still had a lovely ambience. The decor, lighting and music were all well considered. Count on a £100+ per head for lunch.

Food ok, but nothing special. Ordered the chicken for the main course, got half a chicken. Half of an entire chicken. An insane amount of food for one person and I noticed the couple on the next table, who both ordered the chicken, had the same reaction. The staff were really nice, but it felt like an off-day for the kitchen.

This was our fourth or fifth trip here for lunch and I am afraid it will probably be our last. There was just a lack of any care, which is a shame as it is a lovely space. Despite a half full restaurant it was almost impossible to get staff's attention as they gossiped by the stand. My son's dish arrived when he had no cutlery. My daughter's sausages were different colours - one pink the other looked cooked we were told it was the type of meat, which really didn't ring true. We waited an hour for our mains to arrive (thankfully we had ordered starters). It was just all a bit slap dash and our unsmiling waitress didn't help.
