Some parts of the food was ok but some wasn't the chicken from the chicken tikka tasted very rubbery wasn't every nice and also with the breakfast the sausages was not cooked they were very pink.
Our server Sam made our meal very enjoyable, he was great.
Food was good and prices are really good. We got 25% off food too
Had a wonderful meal here, the barman sam is such a lovely lad so very polite helpfull and very attentive, well done Sam for making our evening so welcoming
The food was as good as ever as I have eaten there are a number of times. Due to the circumstances at the moment there are only two other people eating in the restaurant on a Friday evening at 730 so it's a little unfair to criticise the atmosphere. The only criticism I would have and I know it's a difficult balance of cost and other circumstances is that the service was somewhat slow, this you could see was due to only two people being able to serve in the restaurant and I think possibly only one person in the kitchen and they were being helped by people from the restaurant. Being objective with this stop me from eating here again no it would not in the service personally from the staff was excellent.
The restaurant is lovely, modern and clean but it lacks some background music.
The food was a good menu but it felt like the food was microwaved and not freshly prepared which was very much a shame.
This isn’t the second time we have been and both times the food was amazing, staff are polite and friendly and it’s never to busy so you have a nice relaxed evening without feeling crowded or having to sit to close to other diners. Will definitely be booking in another visit
We were disappointed to find that Sunday Lunch finished at 2pm (our reservation was at 2.15 pm) so had to make do with burger and chips. The meal was good but if the website had shown that Sunday Lunch ended at 2pm we would have made our reservation for an earlier meal. There was no indication of available times on The Oxen Bar and Grill website which is a huge criticism in our opinion!
The chef was clearly very skilled but working with very poor ingredients.
I have never tasted beef so tough.
The vegetables were creative and the gravy good.
Lots of effort here but with poor quality material to work with,
Won't be returning.
Night did not start well when I was told to change fat chips for skinny fries would cost £1! The reason is a menu change costs a £1 even when they are priced the same.
Starter of hot prawns was sent back twice as the prawns were not cooked and were still grey! I did not wait for a 3rd attempt. Steak was very good and perfectly cooked. Pizza was okay but not crispy all round which suggests it was not turned in the oven! Staff were not great and did not interact with the diners at all. To their credit as well as not charging me for the starter I did not eat, they also did not charge for the steak.
Light, airy surroundings, well-spaced tables and helpful staff make for an enjoyable dining experience. There is a fair variety on the menu, including some imaginative veggie options. Helpings are sensible and the quality excellent - well worth the price.

Great food and location for a lunchtime meeting for anyone on the Milton Park/Didcot site.
Hi AdamS, Thank you for taking your time to review your visit at the Oxen, our location on the Milton Estate, relaxed atmosphere, booths available on request, our daily sandwich selection and Starbucks Coffee, we have a great place to relax and have that imported meeting lunch. We look forward to welcoming you back for your next meeting. Warmest Regards Alex Food and Beverage manager
Booked a table at the Oxen bar and grill for 17.30 - Time was tight as my daughter had to catch a train at 19.00 I got confirmation etc and we turned up at the restaurant at 17.25.
They had no record of our booking and the restaurant didn’t even open until 18.00
You should not get involved if you do not know what you are doing. I have plastered my experience all over social media and thank god for MacDonald’s - it wasn’t how I was expecting to spend the last meal my daughter and I will be having together for some weeks.
It’s a hotel restaurant so most guests are transient, rather than locals.
The restaurant menu is uncomplicated offering burgers, pizza, steaks and a few pub type standards.
If anything, the restaurant is over lit. This doesn’t add to the ambiance.
My burger was tasty, not too solid and dense (binder indicates factory made) It was however cool/coldish. There were no extra options like adding bacon etc.
My wife had the fresh fish option, which she enjoyed. As a hotel guest, it’s convenient and you could happily eat in-house for 5-6 days.
I’m doubtful if it would be the venue for a romantic night out, or celebrating a special occasion. Chain hotel restaurants don’t have the unique or special touches.
Our waiter Cameron did his best to please. He was friendly and engaging.
It’s a nice new, modern hotel. Plenty of on site parking and just off the Milton Gate (Didcot) junction of the A34.
A sort stroll away are Beefeater, Harvester, Costa, Premier Inn. And car main dealers Jaguar/Land River, Vauxhall, and VW.
Great for shopping for a new car.
The food was amazing and the staff were really friendly definitely going there again
The food and venue was fantastic. Service s little slow but I'm sure that will improve as they settle down.
