The Oxford Blue dates back to the 1800’s. Originally two game keepers cottages, it was then converted into a traditional Inn and has served the local community ever since, in a number of different guises.
Acquired in 2015 by Chef Proprietor, Steven Ellis, the property has undergone a magnificent transformation marrying the finest elements of tradition with modern practicalities and comfort.
Our dishes are based upon tradition and comfort, yet presented with a modern twist. We are working with some of the United Kingdom’s most established suppliers to ensure that we use only the highest quality ingredients.

This was our 3rd visit to the Oxford Blue. The service, the food and the wine options are exceptional. For me the OB scores highest on the service, the floor staff are lovely and extremely attentive. We will definitely be going back.

Big fans and we will go back again (this was our third time anyway) however had noticed a couple of service/menu things this time in that, there was no choosing of knives this time - plus the cheese trolley wasn’t brought to the table we had to go to it. These things were so simple and used to add to the service experience but we wondered why they have changed this. Also there was no flexibility on choosing anything other than what was on the menu meat wise and as there was no dietary requirement info available on the booking (I don’t remember) then we couldn’t avert what was offered. We love this place but I do hope they’re not starting to slide.

The Oxford Blue was recommended to us by some friends so we chose to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday there. The food was brilliant, absolutely no complaints. The service was very slow, pleasant waitstaff but seemed to be a little all over the place.

We dined at the Oxford Blue on Mothers day for a late lunch. It didn't get off to the best start as we were delayed and it took us about 20 attempts to get through to them, to let them know. When we did eventually get through, the lady who took the call made a bit of an ungracious fuss about it, saying that it caused difficulty if everyone arrived together, which we thought a bit strange, as we were dining at an 'off-peak' time for Mothers day ( I would have said - 4 pm). Then, when we got there, only 1 other pair of diners had the same time-slot and we were both left standing at the entrance for several minutes, whilst waiters etc. scuttled past without acknowledging us at all. Not the best first impression. The service definitely had pretensions towards 'fine dining' and was mostly good but, the place is not that big and it seemed like there was one person, in our area, doing the main serving, with several others only being allowed to hold trays and wipe tables etc - not the best division of labour, in my opinion, as we waited an age for our initial drinks, our wine was not kept topped for most of the meal and water from the bottle was dripped onto my plate not once but 3 times - he did notice one of the times and apologised. The food, on the whole, was very good but not really worth the price tag, in my opinion. I am not a fan of huge portions, especially at lunch but there was a massive disparity between the size of some of the dishes - the most unfathomable of which, was a cauliflower risotto - which was absolutely tiny - I would have said it was a starter size portion, whilst the meat dishes were a reasonable size - seems strange to skimp on the much cheaper ingredient dish? Overall I think they need to focus on actually making the guests comfortable rather than the 'bells and whistles' of supposed 'fine dining' service.

The food was very good, although the set lunch choice was very limited. The service was also very good up to coffee. We then had the common experience of a long delay before getting coffee and then before getting the bill.

The Oxford Blue is our favourite local Restaurant. The food is Michelin standard without the price tag. Two of our party ate from the Set lunch menu and one al a carte. We were spoilt for choice. The Chicken liver pate was a particular favourite followed by sea bass. As always the deserts are delicious and look picture perfect. The staff are knowledgable and friendly and we will back again soon.

Dinner at The Oxford blue was simply outstanding; we have a new favourite pub and well-worth the 20 minute drive there and back! The food was worthy of a Michlin star, and in the setting worthy of the cosiest living rooms. To put it lightly, we have little to fault, and can’t praise enough the food, extremely friendly staff, and terrific atmosphere. Thank you The Oxford Blue, you have given the residents of Berkishire and South-West London a wonderful gift!

Fantastic food, beautifully served. The table for the 2 of us was small and against a wall but, unfortunately, next to a table of 4, 2 of which were very loud, outspoken teachers who were, clearly, used to addressing a classroom of children. Not the reataurants fault but slightly spilt the evening.

Another great meal at The Oxford Blue. Disappointed that the hot pork pie starter was not available on the evening menu but soon felt compensated by the excellent pigs trotter dish.
The main course pie was delicious.

Great food and great service.
Only comment would be that there wasnt a "front of house " to meet us as there usually is , but that would be nitpicking.

Great night !

Fine Dining menu with excellent Fine Dining quality service at inflated Fine Dining prices. But the pub and wooden tables and loud 70s rock music didn't feel like a Fine Dining experience. My husband's (shared) £60 steak wasn't as good as the one he had last week in Madrid and my delicious cod was served on a stack with a base of sweet pastry. Fish and sugar? Other dishes all fantastic though and all beautifully presented.

Absolutely fabulous meal, stunning food and impeccable service, can’t fault it! The food was really delicious, lots of extra special touches like canapés, bread and handmade chocolate with the bill. We had our puppy with us too and couldn’t have felt more welcome as he got lots of attention and his own water and bowl of treats. Will definitely be returning to sample that cheese selection!

My wife and went to the Oxford Blue on Saturday. We were very walmly welcomed and looked after throughout. The food was very good. I had the trotter and my wife had the goats cheesecake for starter and the beef for main. Both had the burnt cream for dessert which was lovely with the marmalade. Would definitely recommend
