we have been a few times and service has been excellent as is the food always , but Saturday service very poor , had to ask twice for wine which took 45 minutes to be told you had sold out of the one requested , apologized and when asked for another told again not had, plates from starter still on table when main course arrived which is very unlike the service we had experienced before. the food was excellent and this was probably a one off

As repeat guests, we love the atmosphere, food and service. We took some friends for their first time and they loved the experience.

Booked for a birthday treat. We chose the set menu - 5 courses with matched wine. Food amazingly presented with super flavours and produce from across the Uk - with some really interesting wine matches. The service was very professional (but very friendly and unobtrusive). The informal setting really worked - will return and already recommended to friends

I have been to the Oxford Blue before and I had a really positive experience hence why I decided to go back there again. Unfortunately this time my experience has been very disappointing. I found the menu too limited in terms of choice and too niche. The quality of the food was fine, but not amazing as it was the time before. What was most disappointing was the service which was very slow. We sat down at 1.45pm and we left around 5pm and we only had mains and desserts. It took them ages to get our orders and to bring our mains. We had to chase them a few time and we haven’t received any apology nor a discount to apologise. Based on this experience it’s highly unlikely I will go back and I definitely won’t recommend the restaurant to anybody.

Taking one gluten intolerant daughter and one daughter who would like to be vegetarian to a restaurant specialising in game was a high risk manoeuvre but it worked. The staff explained precise details of food contents and what was safe. They both ate the beef and cleared plates. My wife was very happy with the pheasant / foie grad followed by turbot, I had the cheesecake and fry up, but we all tucked into each other’s anyway. The puds were superb and the extras (pheasant balls including gf ones were much appreciated. Very happy customers!

Rather overpriced for what felt like a pub lunch. Service not always good e.g. cheese served with no plates, wine request ignored. A shame as previous experiences been excellent.

Really good food quality, nice choice of ingredients. Maybe a bit light on the content for a hungry person but with atmosphere and overall food quality congratulations to them.

We have dined here about three times before but felt it was somewhat pretentious and decided not to return. However a long time later we thought we would give it one more try. For a Saturday it was unusually quite with many tables unoccupied. We ordered but waited quite a time for our wine prompting a Waitress to find out where it was. Theymake a big deal of announcing the arrival of the bread and I would like them to abandon the performance of the bread arrival. It’s pretentious. My second course was definitely undercooked therefore I returned it. Shellfish is a delicate dish and cannot be served undercooked. I am a cook I know!! The waiter took it back but returned stating that the chef says that’s the way I cook it and if He did another one it will be cooked exactly the same therefore perhaps I’d like to choose something else!!!! Chef very unhappy. He needs to embrace the fact that sometimes the chef gets it wrong. Big ego I thought. He needs to learn how to handle those situations better. We decided not have further drinks, dessert or coffee. The restaurant lacked atmosphere and certain staff were arrogant therefore we will not return again. shame.

I would have done on the basis of previous visits but not on recent visit. Nibbles brought to table before drinks order taken - waited ages for drink - glass of champagne flat - no-one seemed to be in control - bodies there but little organisation.

Food always a delight, although our game tasting lunch main dish was a little dry. This visit was let down unfortunately by a rather hostile Head waitress who was rather rude from the moment we arrived. They are not baby friendly in there, even with a baby sleeping not making a sound. It was a shame as our first experience there was so lovely and we had looked forward to taking our friends who all left commenting on how rude the staff were.

Lovely looking place, beautifully lit from the outside. Nicely laid out inside with separate bar area. The food was extremely good, wide wine list and attentive and friendly service. Made to feel at home by the bar staff and the waitress.

This was an expensive gift for my mother’s birthday. We all agreed the standards had dropped from the last time we came which is a shame as it is very pricey. We waited over half an hour to even get a drink. The service was incredibly slow waiting such a long time before anyone approached us between each course.
It used to be such an experience to go to oxford blue but sadly this time we just felt like we were in any old restaurant.

Sadly the service was fairly poor on this visit. Restaurant full and only a couple of servers. Had to ask for menu and then ask for wine menu. Then ask for drinks! Shame as it was my birthday but food was excellent as usual.

Poor service by arrogant waiter. Waited a long time for starter. Only 3 other tables. Strange food coupling. Boars trotter was flabby, not great flavour and texture. Two people who had venison loin enjoyed it. Turbot nothing special. My game fry was OK.
Too much emphasis on game. No other meat dish on menu. When asked about lamb being a choice there was a flip remark that lamb not available from royal farm. Neither was the wild boar.
Also why was there an aerosol of deodorant in the ladies. Very strange.

Overall we had a lovely evening at The Oxford Blue with 4 friends, 2 of whom had never been before. The food was excellent, and the ambiance good despite not being full. The service was not good though, we had to wait ages to order, 2 of us were given the wrong cutlery for our main courses, and the drink service was very bad, with 1 of the groups drink coming a good 5 minutes after the rest, and it was difficult to get our water glasses refilled. We also found some of the staff to be rather unfriendly and surly. We would go back for the food, and hope the staff have had some training in good service.

Fantastic celebration of British, and especially local food. Really attentive service and adapted to our requests with no fuss. It was an anniversary occasion and the little chocolate treat at the end made it special. Fantastic evening. If you like game, imaginatively cooked, this is an ideal restaurant.

Lovely pub, was a bit dubious after reading the menu as it is mostly game & I’m not normally a fan! However everything was delicious - even the gluten free bread was really tasty - the first I’ve ever tried that wasn’t like chewing on cardboard!😂. I had smoked trout followed by the smoke pit - the deer burnt ends were my favourite!! Will definitely return if we’re back down here & have already recommended to lots of people!

This was a real gem and one we plan to visit again. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the staff very friendly and charming. We weren’t rushed. The only complaint I have is that they forgot we had some wine left and served it a bit late, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars for everything. Food was wonderful but very meat driven. Perfect for carnivores!

We had dinner here on a weekend away visiting the PGA golf at Wentworth. All the staff really knew their job. Excellent attentive service, the attention to detail and knowledge of wine pairings really made the meal special. Good sense of humour as well. If your not a stuffy posh person but enjoys good food you will have a wonderful time. Very funny listening to Elton John's house party music from across the field opposite. This is worth a special trip as far as I'm concerned and we are planning on returning to Old Windsor in the spring purely to have a another meal here. That's says it all.

Thanks TOB.

It was a good experience as with previous visits to OB. However, the service was not very on point ; we had been there 15 mins before a drinks order was taken i in fact it was taken with the food order; we had to ask for bread; my wine order which should have arrived with the main course didn’t and required prompting and the bill/payment process was very slow...
