Although the welcome was good there was no atmosphere as we walked in at 7.45pm on Saturday night. Our cocktail order failed to arrive at all so didn’t bother and went straight to wine as starter was imminent (although our first choice of wine was not available. ) The food was good but small portions. Our water was not regularly topped up but as the bottles were kept on a side table we could not do this ourselves.
We had high expectations of this place but we left feeling disappointed. The food was good but did not warrant the high prices.
We constantly had to ask for wine & water to be refilled. The overall service experience was poor. Staff didn’t pay close enough attention to our table & even blatantly ignored our trying to get their attention.
No warm, friendly interaction from any of the staff.
We won’t be back and will not be recommending to friends.
Such a shame - it could have been so different with just a little bit of effort by the staff.
Amazing food as always, been here a few times now, it's been great service and food every time.
I hadn't heard of this place before but now we know about it, it won't be our last time.
Is it pricey? Yes. But, is it worth it? YES!
In a lovely setting and served by exceptional polite and professional staff the evening started outside with drinks and venison balls 😋
We then moved inside to our starters: Freahly baked sourdough bread, Braised Suckling Pigs Trotter and Chicken Liver Parfait = Amazing 😛
We followed that up with the 40 Day Dry Aged Cote de Boeuf. It needs no review! It was incredible 😝
To end, we had the Chocolate.
The whole event was an incredible experience in Taste and Service.
I fully recommend this place 😋😋😋
Great spot in Windsor with nice views over the countryside to take drinks pre or post supper. Would be good for lunch to i guess. Great quality food with really nice attentive staff. The menu is fantastic. The Beetroot cheesecake for starter was amazing as was the feedback from the other members of the party for the parfait they had also. The Venison main was fab. Well done OB.
Oxford blue since opening had been one of our favourite places to come on every occasion, birthdays, anniversaries, even presents for people. A real fine dining restaurant where Customer Service truly mattered and the food was great! The old 'Front of house', really cared about you and provided you with the real meaning of 'Fine Dining' . The Oxford Blue since he has left has gone down hill and I will never return again. It's so sad to see but it has completely lost the reasons why we loved in so much. In fact I feel you probably would get better service from a fast food chain. We visited with friends of ours, I can't explain how embarrassed we were left feeling after our night ended. The food presentation was good but that is all I can say about it. As we arrived a few of the fine dining touches had been removed ( admittedly stopped by the Chef) these touches are what made the Oxford Blue better than any of the restaurants around the local area but also made them unique. Our friends £65 beef was pure fat. To the point the whole beef was white, although ours was fatty it was edible. But you expect to be able to eat your meat at least. Once they mentioned this to the 'NEW Head of House' his whole attitude changed, he told us that the Chef had said that this is how it is meant to be and that's that. No apology, we understand there are different cuts of meat, and things go wrong, but was expecting at least for this to be re-done for them so they can eat. After the drama, we then felt so uncomfortable we asked for our bill so we could leave. Their meal was taken off, and we was still charged for ours which once our friends complained was also cleared off the table. We were abused by another guest for complaining, even her family apologised on her behalf. I can only assume she knows the chef. We spoke to the OWNER and Chef and his response was do I care, what do you want me to about it. I don't care if you been here before. In my eyes says it all really......
As foodies we were looking forward to our first meal at the highly rated Oxford Blue. A previous visit for drinks only when it first opened had been disappointing (extremely slow service) but as people have been raving about the food for some time now, we were keen to give it a go. The restaurant itself was beautiful. Overall, the food was delicious. We also felt that providing freshly baked bread and butter and canapes free of charge was a very positive touch. We ordered tap water and cocktails - the latter took a considerable amount of time to arrive - I would say around twenty minutes. Around fifteen minutes in, we were advised that the drinks would be arriving shortly (although there was no apology for the delay). The starters arrived shortly thereafter so we ended up finishing our cocktails with these rather than the wine that we had ordered. Unfortunately there was a hair in the middle of my husband's chicken liver parfait. When brought to the attention of the waiter, this was dealt with swiftly and with an immediate apology. A new starter was brought out for him but of course this did mean a delay to our meal overall and my husband was therefore eating alone for this part (couldn't be helped). When the bill arrived we had not been charged for the starter.
I had ordered a glass of red wine to accompany my main course but we had to chase it up as there was a danger I would finish my meal before the wine arrived. My friends' wine glasses were also empty and had not been refilled from the bottle - no problem at all doing this ourselves but the previous twice this had been done by the waiter. We finished our meals feeling that this was a restaurant that was "almost there" but that with local competition so strong, we probably wouldn't return for some time. We did find the service quite patronising at times - both to us and to guests (dining independently of us) at an adjacent table. Not a big fan of being talked down to at the best of times!
We had really looked forward to going to The Oxford Blue. I had told them in advance it was fora friend’s birthday dinner but that was not recognised - not even an iced happy birthday message on his dessert plate. The food was nice but just nice and did not reflect the £375 bill for four - and only three of us were drinking. The service was good but on the hottest day of the year - the restaurant made no attempt to open windows and it was so hot, the sun was piercing, making it very uncomfortable. I would have thought they’d have had better air on. If I was spending that kind of money again, I’d go to The Waterside. Also the drop off area is very unlevel. Beware of this if you have disabled people in your group.
We've been to this place already and this was our 2nd time. It didn't disappoint us. Beautiful food, attentive service - very good experience and would certainly come again!
Perfect spot for a leisurely mid-week lunch. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and really excellent standard of cooking. Not a pub where you'll find the locals knocking back a few jars, with the food offering being the main focus. A few well kept local ales, local sparkling wine and fresh cocktail list have something for everyone. The set lunch is excellent value with the venison bonbons, top notch bread, and crackable chocolate bar all coming in addition to the 2/3 courses. Will probably return for a Sunday lunch or two. Cheers!
Fantastic Food and service !
Had a very Relaxed lunch, in a spacious comfortable environment, highly recommend the Oxford blue
Nice and cozy place away from all the tourist noise of the restaurants around the Windsor castle.
It was a bit disappointing.
I think I had a really high expectations in service and the quality of a food.
It was my first time I booked for an evening.
The few times I’ve been at lunch time was excellent in every way.
Especially, the timing of foods arriving at the table and the presentation was beautifully done.
I was so proud to have taken my friends from Japan and they were most impressed with the restaurant.
I took my sister and my daughter on that evening and I did not say anything to them but all I remember was how long we had to wait for each dish to be served.
I actually do not remember what I had that evening.
Another thing which I suggest is the appetiser should be changed and not the same thing repeating for lunch and dinner. May be a different one depending on the day ....or at least change from lunch and dinner.
I will try booking for a lunch time again to see if your service and dishes are in “excellent “ performance as I remembered.

On holiday, and had a fantastic dinner. Food was wonderful & creative, yet not pretentious. Would highly recommend going to Oxford Blue to locals and visitors.
I had asked for a table overlooking the terrace of which there are 2. I made the booking 2 weeks before. On arrival my friend and I were placed away from the terrace. There was an empty table for two to our right in a booth like formation, so we moved only to have a waiter dash up and say it was reserved. When I asked how come they allowed this request to be blocked when mine wasn’t the maitre de came up and was quite condescending explaining this was a regular guest and as such he did it. He said ( as I know) that requests cannot be guaranteed and they had chosen to sit two 3 people at each terrace table as opposed to my booking which was for 2 people.
The service has really gone down recently here. I felt quite humiliated by the maitre de who kept labouring the point like I was a child.
I won’t be coming back. Also incredibly noisy which is why I requested the terrace table. I couldn’t hear my companion who was sitting across from me. Food was ok.
I visited the Oxford Blue with my family for my daughter's 18th birthday. The meal was absolutely superb - each dish and each course was a showstopper. The service was attentive and the team were very knowledgeably about the dishes. I made the assistant manager (Ryan) aware earlier that day that it was a special occasion and my daughter was presented with a birthday cake , including her name piped in chocolate ( her name is difficult to spell so full marks for attention to detail !). One thing to be aware of for families is that there is not a kids menu - although they did a superb fish and chips for my ten year old son. Perhaps it would not be a destination suitable to younger children. Overall, we had a wonderful meal - everything from the cocktails to the puddings were beautifully presented, offered plenty of choice and most importantly, tasted fantastic. I would highly recommend.
A brilliant experience. We were met by an immaculately dressed member of staff upon arrival and from that point on the service, food and ambiance could not have been better. Totally faultless throughput.
Great food in an excellent atmosphere! Really enjoyed the food.
Great restaurant, excellent food and service. No complaints.
Yesterday was my 3rd visit to The Oxford Blue and we were all very disappointed with the food . The Hake Was boring and dry and one of the jam donuts had no jam. For £175 for 3 people was hoping for more and the wow factor of flavour . Staff were great warm and welcoming.
Fabulous dining experience. The Lobster Rarebit was just incredible as were all the other dishes we chose. The house white at £28.00 a bottle was delicious. We will definitely be returning.
I absolutely cannot fault this venue, they take great care and put thought into every aspect of the dining experience. It is without a doubt my favourite place to eat. The food is always incredible and the restaurant itself is beautiful, my friend and I were seated facing the window with its countryside views. The staff are very knowledgeable and cannot do enough to help you.
Amazing Sunday lunch at the oxford for my other half’s birthday! I had the beef wellington and he had the lamb rump! Both were outstanding! The place is beautifully decorated and the service was outstanding! Would highly recommend!
Sunday Lunch Experience - The restaurant setting, decor and service was very good, cannot argue. The food was also of a high quality. I would be the first to appreciate "You get what you pay for" however on this occasion I would have to say the contrary. The only thing that let this experience down was the bill. I am quite happy to open the wallet to a good food establishment. I understand produce, service all costs etc.. but for example the Oxford Blue sits at 47/8 in the Top 50 Estrella Gastropub entries, whereas the The Beehive not too much further away sits circa no.7 and I categorically say that value for money The Beehive makes The Oxford Blue look a little silly. My personal opinion is they need to work on improving the direct correlation.
My wife and I went for dinner to celebrate her birthday.
They were very professional and friendly at all times.
They accommodated my wife’s dietary needs and made her easy to make her choices.
Overall, we had a great night out. Thanks.
Another fantastic meal here, one of our favourite places. The food is served beautifully and the menu is varied. A real fine dining establishment. Nice little touches like the amuse bouche and the chocolate in a box with a hammer to finish off your meal. Service was fantastic too. Would highly recommend.
The good:- The oxford blue has a gorgeous setting and is a beautifully put together venue and i imagine with a evening crowd might have more life about the place. Lovely balcony from which to watch the countryside quite idyllic in many ways. Ample parking is always a bonus. The food is ok but the price I would have expected a lot better. It had some nice touches little samplers in between courses etc but the details really let it down.
One of my party was late... the place was practically empty but rather than being welcoming, i was made to feel guilty, On explaining, and apologising for my tables tardiness i was told "well there's not much we can do about it is there..."
I ordered a large water bottle for the table and the glasses were only topped up once by the wait staff who proceeded to drops large drips into my dates plate and didn't even notice - not cool. The main course was tiny... mine was particularly stingy as i cant eat one element that comes as standard... I know being gluten, dairy and tomato free is a pain, but i expected more from the kitchen. To be honest that would have been forgiven as i am used to being underwhelmed; if the comes as standard dish had lived up to its promise but sadly according to my date it didnt...
Lots of promise, could have been lovely, spoilt by average food and a slightly snooty attitude
Loved the evening cannot fault it. Friends came for first time and thought it was excellent albeit a little expensive. Look forward to our next visit.
The Venison Croquettes were a great way to start our lunch. My wife ordered the IPA Cured Trout as a starter ant it was OUTSTANDING. Wonderful flavours, perfectly prepared and perfectly presented. I had the Seafood Rarebit and it was very tasty. Our main courses were excellemnt. My wife had the Venison, which was perfectly cooked. I had the Rabbit which was again expertly prepared. Desserts were the Apricot Crumble - simply delicious and I had the Blackcurrent Soufflé which was also delicious. Service was excellent and the "Happy Anniversary" surprise was a lovelt finishing-touch. We will definitely return and most definitely recommend.
Great presentation of food , but was just missing something to make it a 5 star .
It's my second time at Oxford Blue. As good as the first time with wonderful, well presented food and excellent service. Felt like a VIP first time and again during this visit.
Attention to detail is second to none.
Corner table was somewhat uncomfortable though with not enough space for everyone's feet under the table but other than that a wonderful evening and will definitely visit again.
Excellent service, great food all be it a little pricey
We were made to feel really welcome by polite and happy staff. The food was presented beautifully and tasted excellent. We were able to dine at a relaxed pace with attentive hosts. The most unpretentious restaurant of its standard. Would definitely go back and recommend.
I might be normal in the UK but I was quite surprised that I needed to leave my credit details when I made the reservation. They will deduct 50 GBP when you don't show up. Off course that wasn't our intention. We had a lovely dinner at a very nice table near the window. In summer time the terras must be fabulous. The first course was perfect (aspargus) but the main course (deer) didn't taste like I expected. So our experience was that the food was not that special, drinks were very expensive and in my opinion the value for money balance therefore is not OK. We expected more of this place and for this money.
Awesome in every way. Beautifully presented food and friendly service. What more can you ask for.
The service was outstanding. Our server (Andrew) was lovely and so professional with a very personable approach. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to revisit!
Absolutely fantastic. Cannot fault anything and the food was some of the best I have ever eaten anywhere.
Great service, cocktail list, wine list, menu and attention to detail from all. Great for a special occasion.
Great food, outstanding service, highly recommend 👍🏼
We visited the Oxford Blue for our 20 year meeting anniversary. From start to finish the experience was superb. Firstly my Old Fashioned cocktail (which i am usually very fussy about) was spot on! The food was amazing. I had the pork pie to start, then beef wellington and to finish a banana souffle and lots of lovely little touches in between compliments of the chef (but ill leave you to find those out!) All in all i would dine here again for sure, A+++++++++ and made our special day even more special. Oh just want to add the we were looked after by Andrew, he was so welcoming and a treat to have spoil us, he made the experience even better. Thank you Oxford Blue from Tina and Shaun
